  • Having previously collaborated with Director André Øvredal on Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, MPC teamed up once more, this time delivering some seriously creepy creature work.
Based on a single chilling chapter from Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula, The Last Voyage of the Demeter is a terrifying horror film that tells the story of an unholy presence that dooms the crew of the merchant ship Demeter as it sails from Carpathia to London.
Check out our latest VFX breakdown, showcasing the incredible VFX work completed by our teams in Toronto, Bangalore, and Mumbai.

HUGE round of applause to Javier Botet for portraying a Dracula whose character is ACTUALLY a monster and not some beautiful pale skinned hunk of a man!
I would love for Universal to remake Bram Stoker’s Dracula set in this world!!!

So, when Dracula makes his first human kill, they were using a wolf-man costume ... probably they originally intended to reference Coppola's movie? (in the scene on the ship, Dracula takes his wolf-man form to kill the crew)

It's frustrating seeing how much they covered up that makeup with CGI. Especially given how many hours spent in the makeup chair.

reference, eyeline, reaction, etc. It's better on all fronts to have something there to film and for the actors to react to. Also, the DOP and camera operator can light and frame it with it in mind instead of just guessing, and for the VFX artists to use as reference

I worked as a Lightning Artist in this movie and the answer above is the one that explains it perfectly. The more and better practical reference we get from set in the plates, the better we can do our job.
