The texture of his voice is actually pretty unique he has like a deep tone when singing he can hit some high notes too that we can hear in the background. Having a low voice can also make a great singer

A lot of dance practices are usually recorded before the comeback is announced or at least when photos are released (some are recorded way after it honestly depends) because they take a month to learn and then a few more to practice precision, so when idols (usually male ones or with short hair) are wearing hats during dance practices they’re more than likely sporting a new hair color that they’re not allowed to reveal yet.
But don’t they come out after the mv release anyway? I thought it was cos he loves wearing beanies lol
@@alegraasita1575 it probably is because of comfortability of the dancer but you have to have a really secure hat or else it’ll be a distraction and some idols are instructed to wear hats when they leave their residence if they’re with a new hair color to keep the surprise
This actually truth but Kai also have a thing for hats. He usually like to cover his hair when he dance
He has also mentioned it before that wearing hats/beanies to cover his eyes makes him more confident in himself/feel more handsome/sensual while practicing and looking at the mirror. When practicing new routines/choreos often times, he might look weird in the mirror until he finds the "BALANCE 😭🤣," so justgives him more confidence to not see how his face looks very well.
Yeah exaclty, Kai is aware of every inch of his body and uses it to transmit every dance. Kai uses all of his body, from his face to his toes, a true performer!
Hope she reacts to ICU awakening dance as well. And also Reason dance practice, she will be gladly surprise at how good he is at the hip hop style too

I think the comparison to Chris Brown is because when it comes to dancing, him and Usher are the first 2 people black people think of, because that's who we relate to. But as a Kai fan, I do think that their styles are completely different. Also, I wouldn't hold too much to the comment about Kai being a confident singer. She's a dancer, so her critique is most valued in that area. Don't be so triggered. I'm sure she didn't mean anything negative. She just didn't have the right context.

Nah I actually enjoy Cecee. I feel everything she said has some logic and its constructive, wish more reacters where like her. I just detest CB and I feel that instead of him along with Usher, people should start referencing the likes of NeYo, Omarion, Jason Derulo, ect.
I think the comparison is a fair one in terms of solo male r&b/pop singers who are also very strong dancers. I don't think she was making it to say Chris Brown would sing this song better, just that he's someone in the same vein. Never liked Brown's voice personally, but I can see her point. Kai's a capable singer, like basically everyone in EXO, but he's not a vocalist the way Baekhyun, DO, Chen, and Suho are and it's ok to point that out. The song still works because it was made to fit his lower tone and smaller range so it suits him, but I would be interested to hear a cover of it from someone like Dean.
@@realtalk13 If you're interested Junny is the artist who wrote the lyrics for this song and he did a cover for it. You can look it up on YT. IMO, he is on the same level as Dean.
he is a strong vocalist. he doesn't need to have the same voice as someone else to be a good and/or strong vocalist

Kai killed this choreo , on top of that his back up dancers were absolutely slaying the whole time . I agree that I love watching Kai dance he’s very aware of his body .

bruh why are you so triggered? the reason she wanted to see his hair is bc hair movement can and usually does add a lot more detail to a dance. i mean Blinks literally die when lisa’s hair dances along with her, it’s the same with many other idols, like soojin, i’ve even seen some people from my own fandom simping over how my idols hair moves when they dance.
stop adding meaningless and useless quotation marks to show your disagreement and sarcasm and actually try to understand what she was saying before making a comment like this. if you were actually trying to help them by guiding them to another video they may be more interested in, then you should’ve said it without the sarcastic and snarky attitude.

Kai IS a strong vocalist. I don't think you can judge just by one single song, which is recorded and you don't even hear him live. He has a very unique tone, and he put his soul into his solo album, so there's no one who could do HIS song better

He ALWAYS hides his hair for practice so he could focus on his body lines, if you check all exo dance practices he always wears a cap or a beanie to hold down his hair!! Just a little insight!

Like it or not, the genre Kai's Mmmh is in i.e rnb is heavily influced by western music artists including Chris Brown. Dont have to like him, but he is extremely talented.
@@ukman1234g well Kai does alternative r&b and practically the father or that sound is The Weekend who even Usher had to congrats on the diversification of the genre. Its funny bc Kai growth listening the likes of MJ and Usher but its Abel the one he always citate as one of his all time favourite singers. The weekend has been the only consistent male singer on Kai is playlists over the years. So yeah, he is one of the few males idols that dgf about CB, while every other do. Nothing on kai is inspired on CB, not his dance, Kai is not an urban based dancer, not his sound, even if Kai does r&b the most.

FINALLY SOMEONE TALKING ABOUT KAI'S HAIR AND CLOTHES!!!!! Fun fact kai rarely styles his hair up during performances for the exact reason that he is very into hairography/knows how important hair movement is in adding detail/texture. Like you said, he is aware of EVERY inch of his body.
Love how she said Kai is intentional about everything he does and his awareness of his body. Whenever I see him dance it doesn't seem like choreography but more like the music is moving his body because every part of his body from his eyelashes to his toes flows with the music.
*side note* Mmmh is not written to have vocal runs or emphasized adlibs it is supposed to be minimal or breathy like the choreography. i love how she mentioned abt the outfit cos that's something i get disappointed with some dance practice or even performances itself. some of their outfits dnt really get to showcase their movements esp when they're doing body waves or it hides the body lines/shapes they're making. and that's something i loved abt this dance practice cos you can clearly see every movement kai makes.

How can you say Kai is not a confident singer? You have never heard him sing. What you are hearing is the CD recording of the song being played in the studio. This is a dance practice so he is not singing the song. Plus the audio is being played in the studio live, not as an overlay on top of the video, so you can't even hear what the song fully sounds like. If you saw Kai perform live you would see that he is a very good singer and the "lack of adlibs" that you think are needed aren't overdone because that is the way the song is designed. This video is all about the dancing and has nothing to do with singing, so you really can't judge what kind of singer he is unless you have actually heard the song.
If on first impressions of an artists title/debut song you can say a reactor hasn’t “heard them sing” then why are you blaming them for not noticing his vocals? Slight contradiction there no?
Also, Kai is known for his dancing, stage presence and charisma. He’s coming into his own with his vocals now but let’s not over compensate as if he’s an obviously “strong” vocalist like the many vocals we know in SM. I’m sure he will develop his skills there because he still delivers good vocals without being a “strong” vocalist and it’s ok to admit that.

And by virtue of the fact that he IS an SM artist, it's pretty much a given that he is a great singer. Yes, he is known for his dancing and performance skills, but people really overlook the fact that he is a very accomplished singer as well. Remember how Taemin spent years with people making fun of his singing and telling him that he couldn't sing and that he needed to stick to dancing? Well look at Taemin now, one of the top vocalists AND dancers/performers in the industry. I think people need to give Kai more credit.

His vocals are showcased more on the b sides of exo albums and its fantastic. Everyone who reacts to exo b sides always point out kai singing and say that he has a greaf voice and smooth vocals.
