    Thanks so much for the THOROUGH review! Even though I don't have to fly with my bari or other instruments, I really appreciate your THOROUGH and honest reviews of products! I had not seen this particular case, and LOVE that it includes a removable accessories bag (which I would consider my mini GIG bag)! That means no additional bag to tote around in order to have your basic essentials for a performance...and the fact that the case is not completely formed to the instrument's shape , as you mentioned, doesn't give it away as an instrument, which can prevent the easy recognition by thieves, AND it allows for some storage. WONDERFUL review, and thanks again for being honest about the other case's damage and your decision to not do a complete review on it due to that problem. Have a wonderful week... we are blessed to be able to attend our 14 YEAR OLD'S performance at the DETROIT JAZZ FESTIVAL this weekend; praying for lack of rain/thunderstorms Saturday morning, and looking forward to possibly meeting Chick Corea! The HS Jazz band is performing his "Early Afternoon Blues" as one of their selections.

      Thank you! I hope you don't have rain on Sat also - enjoy the show. That would be amazing if you did meet Chick Corea!

    I have had a BAM Hitech for my baritone for 15 years and it's fantastic. I haven't flown with it because I prefer to borrow or rent a bari when I'm flying and just bring my mouthpiece. I also bought a BAM Cabine for my tenor and it's also fantastic. There's no room for ton of sh....eet music, but it's the smallest protective tenor case on the market and I have had no problems bringing it on flights. The interior of both cases provides excellent protection for my saxophones. These are great cases.

      Kevin, where do you rent your horns from? (I know it depends upon the location you are going to, but if you can share some of those places, that would be great)

    I’m looking (in 2021) at the latest version of this case. I’m not sure how different it is than this one, but BAM lists the weight as around 8lbs, which seems to be lighter than the Trekking and Cabine. Do you have any insight into this? How has your opinion of this high tech case held up since this video? I live in NYC and carry a Sax on my back all the time. I’ve used the Trekking case, Protec ProPack, and Fusion Bags, but this one seems to offer the best protection and storage and weight overall.

    • @DonnaSchwartz
      @DonnaSchwartz  3 роки тому +1

      I don't think the HighTech is lighter than the Cabine, but it feels better on the back due to the well-cushioned shoulder pads and their placement. And the Hightech has a ton more room for storage - the Cabine has none.

      @@DonnaSchwartz Thanks. I actually corresponded with BAM. They had the weight listed incorrectly. As it turns out, I can't use either because I have a Keilwerth and the Bell is larger. 😥

    Hi Donna ! Great review! i need your help for take a decision non so easy for me, i ve two questions: I've to change my Bam softpack for my MarkVI and i don't really know if buy the Bam Hightech or the new protec micro zip bm305ct with even his cover case. Do you know if in the external pockets of protec cover , you can carry not only papers but even a music stand or sax stand, or a box with shure radio mic ? Second thing is if the micro zip case has a little space underneath the sax, even less space of bam cabine , but something or nothing space. Thanks so much!

      Sorry - I just saw this. Micro - no space under the horn. The cover has plenty of room for music books - I've fit iPads, foot pedals, Vandoren FNH 100 harness, swabs, etc.
      You can fit a mic in there, and even a PEAK sax stand

    Thanks! Have you compared to the Hiscox ‘Artist’ sax cases? I want to be prepared for an unexpected check-in and the clown show that is airport baggage handling.

    Nice review. I do think your straps are backwards though. The padded layer that you have facing out should be facing in instead. I do have a few BAM cases with these straps as well.

      The idea is to carry the horn on board. If you have to check it, you’re always taking a risk of damage to it.

    Are the latches a concern? I have a Hiscox and the latches are superb, but the interior isn't as form fitting, as is well documented. The other BAM cases with the same latches produce more than their fair share of negative comments / disasters. Even your test product was damaged! This is for a minty 5 digit alto... Thanks...

    • @DonnaSchwartz
      @DonnaSchwartz  2 роки тому +1

      These latches are really good - it comes with a small key so you can lock them. I use this case for my Mark VI and my Trevor James Custom Signature Raw (which is a bit of a tight fit)

    • @JeffreySaxophoneTallNewton
      @JeffreySaxophoneTallNewton 2 роки тому +1

      @@DonnaSchwartz Thanks for the answer! I cannot imagine having to lock a case because the latch isn't proper, though. It's like Hiscox, which has lousy interior padding: the user has to do extra things to make up for bad manufacturing. If you know, are the latches on the Hi-Tech better ones than the Carbine? For $700, they ought to be....

    I would think this is way too long to go in an over-head. It may fit, but it may annoy people if you take up that much space. Just saying.

    • @DonnaSchwartz
      @DonnaSchwartz  6 років тому +1

      I hear you, but it is just as long as the Cabine, and they both fit.
      It looks big because it's on me, and I'm short, so don't let that deter you ;)
