      It really is a small fortune, isn't it? I think these paints make a good extra on M. Graham for the colorls M. Graham lack in their collection. Yes, my bird makes very cute noises...when he doesn't sit cursing... :-) (that's what you get when teenagers 'take care' of your bird from time to time :-) Although honestly, it's quite hilarious...)

They are stunning and my only wish is that they would come in tubes also. Any idea if this is going to happen anytime soon? 2020 is almost done. Let's hope 2021 is a lot more fun. Merry Christmas!

    Thank you for the video. I always watch swatch videos because I like the benefit of seeing how a certain brand performs on different papers and I do not need to do it. 😂
    I've seen so many techniques how people do their swatches and I wanted to ask why do you choose a small round brush to cover those big areas, when with a flat brush you could have much nicer flat washes and a nice looking gradient from dark to light easily? When you use a small brush to cover a big area your swatch is not representing the performance of the paint properly because the water puddles dry like cauliflowers and that is usually not an appealing look for watercolor. So I'm just curious, I thought I ask it because you may have a good reason. 🙂

    • @MandyvanGoeije
      @MandyvanGoeije  3 роки тому +3

      Hi Moma B, that is a good question. I thought about that a little while back when someone else asked me. I use a small brush on purpose. My work is rather small and very detailed, so I work a lot with smaller brushes and want to see how the paints behave with them. Also, I like to see what my paints do when I don't treat them optimally. Schmincke Horadam, for example, will even out even with a small brush. And other paints will flower. So in my experience, working like this represents the qualities of the paint very well. I'm not after a perfect swatch. I'm interested in how the paint behaves in relation to my other paints and what I can do with its properties. Because, apparently contrary to you, I love watercolor just because of its capacity to form cauliflowers on paper. Also, by painting the way I do I already get a good idea of light to dark gradients and the textures the paints make. I guess the way we paint depends on what the swatcher prefers for their swatches and their painting style.

    • @moma-b
      @moma-b 3 роки тому +1

      @@MandyvanGoeije Thank you for your reply. 🙂
      I consider myself a beginner with watercolor, I have a lot to learn. Mostly artists I have watched swatching saying if you have those puddles that means you use too much water for the type of paper you have. They also say if you have good paint on good paper, it will indeed even out, but some paints just simply don't work well with some papers, even if they both are of good quality. So I have learned that cauliflowers are not good and if you want to cover big areas, that's what big brushes for. 😂
      But I guess since art is free and limitless we all do what we want, right?🙂
      Thank you again for sharing your thoughts, I indeed learned from it. 😊💖

      O, dat geeft helemaal niets hoor! Ik kan je dit merk warm aanbevelen en is een mooie stap vooruit op de Van Gogh. Het ligt prijstechnisch beter dan de andere. Wat je misschien het beste kunt doen, is van elk merk een aantal losse napjes of tubes kopen en die dan in een doos doen en dan zelf uitproberen wat jij fijn vindt. Elke verf heeft zijn eigenschappen. Als je overstapt op artist quality wordt het heel persoonlijk wat 'het beste' is.

    You should use two water jars; one for cleaning your brush and one for taking new clean water 🙂
    If you use dirty water to paint like you’re doing in the video, then you’re contaminating all the swatches with the previous pigments and it makes them appear more dull than they really are 😅 In other words, the paints are even more beautiful than this! 😃 Thank you for the nice video nonetheless😊
    Also your kakariki is really making adorable sounds, super cute 🥰❤️❤️❤️

    my finches are happy if they can fly in the room but it must be save for them. The cage is 1,7m long so they can fly the hole time. i gave them coconut for building a nest- so they are busy not bored also they have now natural material because plastic stuff is not healthy...
    Windows needs stores because they want to fly to the light. Narrow gaps behind furniture can be deadly traps too. They like my guitar and piano playing and if i sing wrong notes they scream:-D
    After all birds want to be able to fly even if they live in captivity. Maybe its a stimulation for you because birds are very funny if you let them more into your life even if its only for a hour a day:-)
    Nevertheless i like your videos! Thank you!
