I completely agree about the acoustic kit vs the electronic kit! The Church I play at almost bought an E kit, so happy they didn't!!

@@earldrum I gigged for several years with a roland TD-9. It worked very well in many situations that acoustic would be a serious pain. While not the feel of an acoustic kit, the line into pa, monitoring, digital library and eq are awesome and simple. A friend of mine played roland for Mickey Gilley (The late Gary Cornelius). Mickey preferred the Roland because of the flexibility and practicality. No more drum cage for Gary's Pearl or DW kit. No more acoustic headaches. I would prefer an acoustic kit, but again, practicality. And the sound and feel of e-kits has vastly improved in the past 5 years. A local friend of mine uses e-kits in small "live" sounding bars. The roland was actually much cleaner sounding than his Pearl kit because of the electronic controls.

@@scottlowell493 thanks for the feedback Scott! I agree that ekits have come a long way! The new DW wireless kit is fun to play and many of the Roland kits with real drum and electronics look good too! My experience in church is I don’t get the dynamic range from the cymbals and most situations are all ekit or acoustic! I think a true hybrid kit could work but I love the feel of a real snare and cymbals! But it’s just my preference. Also, I’m stuck on edrums looking like six sided Simmons pads! That’s really the only ekit I ever wanted to buy! By the way I have a Alesis ekit on a shelf and an SPDSX … I have owned Tama TechStar, and Alesis D4 brain in my history … thanks for watching and the comment!

I think it your channel you do you. That said, i will never complain about you jamming on some jazz. I always love jazz and have started back studying jazz in recent years. You right too. A gigging drummer mostly just need a four piece. Even when playing a large kit i usually just play the basic 4 drums and a crash and a ride. I enjoy watching you play, it fun. But i look forward to your jazz and that beautiful custom flattie man that cymbal is awesome.

Last comment: I had slingerland concert toms in 1978/79. Mixed maple/poplar. Nice fat sound for what they were. A friend had 1976 (memriloc) rogers drums. Those also sounded pretty fat. The mixed wood shells with old school pinstripes or hydraulics really thumped. I do, however prefer a double headed kick. I used 2002 during my Bonham phase, but prefer a more complex sound like Paiste Signature, dark energy or even rude.

Thanks for the feedback Vince! The numbers are reference to the chord structure of most modern worship songs. Being a drummer I’m not an expert on theory, I is the root or dominate chord in the Key the music is played. In the Key of C = I is C E G, IV is the F chord, ii chord is D min, vi is A min. I hope this helps!

I'd rather have a solid kit that's giggable than be "that guy" that has an exotic high end kit that never comes out of the basement. I have a fondness for fibreglass kits because they are far more impervious to damage. I cringe when I see some dude and his $14,000 custom painted kit get unrepairable gouges to his shells. Accidents happen. I know dudes that make their money on a wrapped pearl export. The mic and eq makes the difference. FWIW: Both Eric Carr of Kiss and Gil Moore of Triumph had killer concert tom sound.
