The defense attorney is not winning any points by shaming the victim in this case. This poor kid survived a knife attack perpetrated (evidently) by his client. Embarrassing him about not having a job or money is unnecessary towards the defense of his client, and it makes him look mean and desperate.

I've had to pause it several times during the cross examination as I was getting irritated so I would go and stress clean for a bit then come back and watch a few minutes more, then pause.... I'm very interested in this case, I'm addicted to crime stories, court cases, crime documentaries, true crime shows, crime UA-cam channels ect....but watching this young man go through all this nasty questioning like you said is definitely bringing out the mama bear in me as well.

For arguments sake...are all of the lies part of of his reaction too? Or is he trying to look like a hero? I can tell you this much for sure, (if you've ever been on jury duty, you'll get this), his testimony is basically trash. Not that it's going to play a huge role in guilt or innocence, but this guy may as well have been an accomplice. This jury probably hates him as a witness, for me personally, I already dismissed it when he said he was standing in the same spot when he was attacked, I don't believe that for a second. There is no way this guy watched a dude run out of the laundry room, attack his gf on the other side of the bar, and just stood there to take his turn. This was even before he got called out for lying. After all of that, I just believe anything that comes out of his mouth. Just my opinion, go easy on me please. 😃 He was running for HIS life, more likely he was being chased around, so just say that bro, cut for me, nothing could be worse than what you are said in any of your statements. At any rate, it is what it is, to bad it fell on mostly deaf ears.

My daughter is a general manager of a bank, a man came in with a gun in his hand and a man followed him in, he turned the gun on that man and my daughter immediately went and stood in front of him and asked him to give her the gun he refused of course , but the bank was full and even children in there, so she kept talking to him, finally the man behind her said to her settle down superwoman I've got this and she looked at him and he was showing her his badge on inside of his jacket. He definitely isn't an "honorable" man, but he did what he did. Legally, if your life is in immediate danger, in most places, you are no longer required to put the safety of another as a priority. Sure, had she lived, she probably would have dumped him. That said, Cayer is actually disconnected from reality. Glad Joel survived and could serve as a witness to this mess. Sunny did nothing to deserve this.

He knew if he didn’t run to get to a safe place he would also have been dead to. It was a foot long knife. She was already mortally wounded. When your dealing with a crazy person his little pocket knife would have been useless. ....No wonder his mother cries! @annb9422 4 роки тому +2

@Jonathan Edward Good points. One of the things that bothered me about the attorney is that he did not instruct his client properly on how to speak and answer questions while on the stand. He let Cayer ramble on and on and did not intervene when Cayer was obviously digging his own grave with his cuss words, gestures and pompous attitude.
People in the chat said that is because he may have been trying to let Cayer look crazy so that he will be seen as mentally ill. In his case though, Cayer showed himself to be cognitive of his actions and answers and had a good memory whereas he was trying to prove he didnt at the scene of the crime but that backfired on him.
So I feel that in the end the Defense attorney let him down. Don't get me wrong I'm not on Cayers side but the stupidity of his attorney is mind boggling.

Seriously, get your facts straight and snap out of your made-for-TV movie version of homicides. He punched and kicked a knife-wielding maniac and was stabbed in his arm that severed a main artery and tendons making that arm completely useless. He was also losing blood rapidly. ( See the photo of the kitchen. You can see three large sprays of his blood on the floor) He was stabbed with such force the knife went completely through his arm and cut his chest.
Despite that, he does his best to get a weapon to protect her and when he hit the killer with the shovel the killer went down. Then he did the best thing he could do...he called 911. The sooner they are called the sooner she would get medical treatment. You don't know which wounds she had already suffered, any one of which could have been fatal. "That guy could have saved her" ...He's human, not a magician. Come back to reality.

One night on a country road my wife, daughter, step son, and I were driving to my brothers. An oncoming car had a deer jump out in front of them which they hit into my lane. We never saw the deer until it was in front of the bumper on its side and my car jumped over it. I kept control of the car and pulled to the side. The other driver stopped a quarter mile down the road and waited for 2 minutes and then took off. They never checked on us and can only guess they were probably drunk or had some reason to not stick around for the law. I do not spook easily but how fast and catastrophic the accident was had me in a state of shock. It took me over a minute to remember my unlock code on my phone. It took me another 1 minute to put in the code because my hands were shaking so bad I could not accurately touch the screen to enter the 4 pin codes. Then I struggled going through my contacts to find my brothers number. The point being I could have walked that country road at night by myself and not been scared but due to that unexpected catastrophe nerves took over so I can understand this kid panicking and doing what he needed to do to get away.

Aly King people are so judgmental. Also, men have emotions and feelings. He was terrified. Why does everyone expect a man to risk his life over his partner? And, it’s not like he pushed her into the knife. She was down and he RAN. To call police. Why is this so hard for people to understand? Talk about victim blaming, jeez.

The attorney is just just going all over the place grasping at straws trying to discredit the witness. The witness is a victim, not the perpetrator! Why he did or didn’t do things during his attack has no importance to the fact that the perpetrator attacked him and killed his girl and girlfriend ´s mother. We all need a defense attorney during a trial if we are accused of a crime, but I hope we get a defense attorney better prepared that this poor clown.

Heartbreaking. What a hot mess. I couldn’t imagine living with myself after that. Who was paying for this house if the mom didn’t work and the kids worked in food service? Kid gets mad at dad and angrily rides his bike to his ex’s house to kill them? 🤢I have family within walking distance of this, lived there for awhile. I was semi shocked. I’d expect it in Green Bay

I feel bad for everyone in this situation...
Joel has a lot of timeline holes in his statement. The bathroom distance and the laundry room, where he said Jacob went for Sabrina first..... and she wasn’t able to get a 911 call dialed to an operator by the time he came out from across that big house, had to barge through the kitchen passed Joel and to the bathroom area where she was already dialing 911 because of her mother in the bathroom. This guy gets stabbed after he goes after Sabrina, and some how Joel in a panicked state bashed him with shovel and left her to protect himself? Seems like a lot more time went by than what has been testified. I’m not saying Jacob isn’t guilty. I believe he murdered them, but.... I don’t believe it went down the way he said it... just a lot of holes in his timelines and he answers quite robotic and methodical. Short yes and no answers it was just a bit suspect on Joel’s end. But he got stabbed and so he was a victim not a suspect 🔪

Jacob did NOT kill his *EX-GIRLFRIEND* , he murdered his *girlfriend* . If she wasn't killed by that psycho, we'll never know if they would've been married, had kids, poor Joel. Seems simple, sweet, damaged. I hope he finds love again. He will always carry guilt, even tho he did amazing, saving his own life, hitting the killer, and surviving to identify their killer and testify against him. I'd like to hear how he feels about psycho getting life in mental hospital and no prison...it doesn't sit right with ME, let alone Joel I'm sure. What a gruesome unnecessary crime. This was all because he had a fight with his dad? Evidence showed there was no grudge against Sabrina, neither men knew about eachother, so no motive. I know murder has existed since the beginning of time, but I'll never understand it.
