@@stano49 the skylights in Germany are almost certainly useful in Germany because electricity in Europe is more expensive and they should provide passive heating, lowering the heating costs. It's like people have blinders on when it comes to seeing what Tesla is soon going to be doing to their production. Tesla will soon have two new production facilities that will be using all the new technologies they have been perfecting in different places under one roof. From castings that make cars better and faster than ever before to massive numbers of batteries produced in house that are many times better than what they have had just a year ago. Every where you look Tesla is pushing the boundaries of production and twchnology. Meanwhile no other companies beyond VW, Toyota, and BYD are even close to mass production or sales here in the US. The Tesla factory near Austin is deceptively huge. Its actual height is equal to a seven story office building. There are some areas within it that are production ready or nearly so. Other large areas are basically vacant, with just H/vac and basic electrical being put in place. I am convinced that TA will be capable of manufacturing the Model 3 and the Model Y and the Cybertruck and the Semi and the new Model 2. The total square footage of the building is 8.99 million square feet (counting all floors). The biggest problem for this facility now - there is not enough parking areas to handle the cars of the workers and the cars to be produced.
6:08 True, you should not run a diesel inside, but normally, factories are made like, they can role of and out at the end of the factory. For obvious reasons ^^
By my calculations, Shanghai and Berlin are the same size , but Austin is 4 times time area and 2 times the height. 8 times production capacity in one factory. 🤯👍
What about repair parts as well as repair facilities. How much does it cost to insure a Tesla. I have heard that insurance is costly as well as lengthy repair times. I could see costs and repair times going down if they allow competition. We don't even have a Tesla dealership in my area. Not on my radar yet.
One of the issues with expanding so quickly, but there is more concentration on service now. Insurance, well Tesla's moving in to that as well and significantly cheaper if you are a good driver. Give them time.
Interesting question. It's hard to change the wheel of the car when the car is running at 60miles/hr. So far Tesla couldnt afford to stop the car for the wheel change. That's my guess
Not far enough sadly, they should've worked harder to ensure a large enough local labor pool. And even added housing for the workers adjacent to the plant itself.
The gasoline car producers have been praying Tesla would fail while they could have spent their time switching to electric car design and production. The HUGE problem for the traditional car manufacturers is that the who business model relies upon them breaking down and wearing out. As the man in charge of electric car production for GM said when they recalled them all and shredded them back when they were forced to make them because of the government's demand that the average vehicle would be limited to an impossibly low level in emitting pollutants in the State of California, which also forced the automobile industry to develop catalytic converters, "We couldn't make any money out of them because they didn't break down and the only maintenance they need was to rotate the tires every 10,000 miles....we would have been out of business." Those electric cars from Toyota, GM and other car companies were only leased....not sold, so that they could, and did recall them and scrap them. The car companies ate not in business to build a product that lasts and you can bet planned obsolescence will be built into the new ones now. Heaven help anyone who has bought a 'hybrid' because they are deliberately hugely expensive and complicated to repair. Musk is building them properly because he knows very well that he wants to maintain a top reputation for quality whilst the others are planning (they don't realize it) to shoot themselves in the foot with vehicles designed to break. That's my guess. The next ten years will tell.
Tesla has an ace card. Tesla margin is high 20s, they want to be in 30 before market saturation. When competition gets tougher and we know there will be. They will reduce prices to eliminate any strong competitors.

Given that GM has cancelled their attendance of CES 2022 due to omicron, it remains to be seen if they still debut the Silverado in January. Maybe they will use this as another excuse for more delays like chip shortage or logistic issues.
The world STILL hasn't grasped the sheer magnitude that is Tesla. All the pieces of the puzzle are there if not assembled...we just need to sit back and wait. Imagine how many more factories they'll have in 5 years time and how many new products!
After seeing the actual build out capacity of the three locations around the globe I don't expect more factories. One maybe but these locations will be built out each segment equaling a new factory.

I can’t wait until Giga Texas is up and running. I’ve given up hope about Giga Berlin opening up anytime soon. 2022 will be an exciting year for the BEVS industry, more BEVS choices for the consumer. Hopefully prices will come down on these vehicles for the average consumer.
If Tesla buys Mercedes, Giga Berlin would open the next day.
Berlin will open soon. Strategically it's a genius move. Europe is one of the big three car markets in the world and Germany is the hub of European car manufacture. Or was. Tesla are going to teach Germany a lesson.
@@MarkXHolland I hope Berlin will open soon, the Germans are fighting Tesla to keep Giga Berlin in paperwork limbos.Tesla and us consumers need both Tesla Giga factories open to increase Tesla vehicle supplies and hopefully reduce pricing on them.
Lars, love your channel. You are The FUD-buster.

Waiting for delivery of my model Y
GM just announced a new EV model - they call it the "WheelBarra".
Great stuff Lars, thank you for a year of really great videos. Let's hope 2022 is as good as we all hope!
I wonder why the roofs of these giga factories aren't covered with solar panels.
No one seems to know why
Soon
No HVAC on it, nice and clean - could put on another floor.
I don’t have any inside information but it’s probably a matter of priorities. Get the factories up and running first. Then add solar later. It’s also interesting that Austin has almost no skylights. People need natural light, so what’s up with that? Maybe the answer is the future solar panels.
@@stano49 the skylights in Germany are almost certainly useful in Germany because electricity in Europe is more expensive and they should provide passive heating, lowering the heating costs. In Texas the the electricity is cheap and skylights would add millions to the air conditioning costs to keep the temperature inside tolerable.
I am sorry German viewers, but the fact that even though Berlin started constructions months earlier and is smaller than Texas and will open after Texas, is a disgrace. 🤦🏻♂️
Behold the power of union job protection
Shuriken....oh dear, so you are "sorry"? And "german viuwers"? Interesting.

@@stennordenmalm1735 Canada and I have no problems admitting that my government when it comes to stuff like this is also a disgrace.
IMO Fremont will move model S and X to Texas.
That will let them remodel the lines
That will free up room for mega castings and then double or triple how many cars they can make
It's like people have blinders on when it comes to seeing what Tesla is soon going to be doing to their production. It's going to be a total hyper implosion for Ford and GM. They are years behind in production and technology being ready to ramp up and they are hemorrhaging money. Meanwhile their own dealerships and unions are part of the many major problems they face. All the legacy vehicle manufacturers face problems at every phase of their production and their busness model is from the Henry Ford era.
Not according to our fearless leader Brandon.
Joe Biden: "GM electrified auto industry & Detroit is EV world leader" Elon must've got a kick out of this...
ua-cam.com/video/djKJQ2GcNJY/v-deo.html
Hey Frank! Samsung and Panasonic are also in the manufacturing race- both brought along and encouraged by the Tesla evosphere. Batteries are, of course, the key; grid stabilisation and transport allowing fossil fuels to stay in the ground to be used for the plastics we will need for the next century or two. Motor cars will run for the next few years, but Petroleum prices will continue to rise, and cut more and more individuals out of the "highway cruising" lifestyle we used to enjoy. To keep a future of joy and fun available is very important. EV's are something I've always wanted, and the Tesla operation of Musk and Friends presents the only real chance, I just wish I'd "wasted" $300 on 3 Cybertruck preorders!! Have a happy 2022!
How is GM the "leader" in EV's when they can't even beat Ford? 😂😂😂
They're a leader alright, just seem to have the direction wrong.
You have to put on the Jo Biden / DemoCrap Foggle Glasses to make the numbers jive.
Yes GM is leading the race to ZERO.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES!🎊🎉
Out-Standing Job Sir, Thank You from Texas...!
GM and Ford are both done. Ford will buy batteries from Tesla. GM will stick to their dreams of being #1 in EV sales and be done in 5 years. We are going to see a lot more Tesla on the roads in the very near future! Also, the $25000 Tesla is coming...and I'll be first to put in an order, or two!
Ford is not done lol. Tell me you don't work in the industry without telling me.. They are global and more solvent than GM.
Tesla are battery constrained so don't expect tesla to sell batteries for at least decade.
@@FordPickUPRed Ever read a balance sheet? ford is so in debt there is no way they can transition to EV and retain what they have... they are going to merge / consolidate/ file for bankruptcy in the next decade, all of their "legacy" equipment knowledge and workers are useless now, and they still need to repay their govt loan, advertising will be the nail in the coffin its obvious with ford dealers trying to charge 30k extra on top of the price of the lightning

Lars, your channel keeps me positive on Tesla. Thank you!
1:16 Texas is set, or at least announced to build CT and Semi, which both are a bit bigger then an Y 3 X S ^^ So, i was not surprised, factory is gonna be bigger ^^
Factories are really going plaid. 2022 will be a crazy good year for Tesla earnings.
Very clearly presented and totally convincing, I don't see a future for Ford or GM. Thank you.
Great description of Texas plant. I didn’t realize it is going to be so much larger than the Berlin plant. They certainly have the orders for it in the next 3 years. One thing you didn’t directly mention is the models that will be produced there and if there is room for a model 2 production. (I know model 2 is just a placeholder name).
Small hatchback more likely to be produced in Shanghai or Berlin where the demand is. America mainly wants Model S, X,Y and truck
TSLA to the Moon by year 2022-2032 ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️🆙🆙

Thank you so much for this great video, packed with great information. It helps understand what Tesla is doing in Texas and worldwide.
Lars, another great explainer video!!
Very informative once again…. Query… in the opening shot… why are the cars going backwards?
Really TESLA is doing it best in manufacturing so many modern and standard products that will shocked so many.
Very blessed.
Heya, Mr Lars! Thanks for the channel this year past, and I hope you have a great 2022. This was a great episode.
Giga Texas is so big they could turn the roof into a runway for Elon's jet.
or multi heli-pad
Except it's going to be covered in solar panels.
And that’s supposed to be a joke? Giga Texas is so big… Better joke

Rivers in TX raise risk of flooding, hurricanes and tornados. I hope they have planned sufficiently.
ICE sales declining rapidly + Tesla sales rising rapidly = Game over for ICE vehicles and many legacy automakers. RIP.
I would never buy another Legacy again, ever. Even if they made it from sunshine and unicorns. Ill just ride what I have until we can get a Tesla. Made in america and home base is here too. Its just a matter of waiting to see when the new 4680 will be used.
The parties been over for ice for year's now. If you go look at just the numbers, and factor in ev&hybrid sales.
The legacy oems are down 40-45% from the end of 2016 in peak total ice sales. The lights will be going out permanently very soon now.

Giga Texas, Giga Berlin, Changhai and Freemont - when ramped: +10 Million Tesla/year for SURE!! Just nuts, but go Tesla and TSLA! Once Tesla Cyber Truck goes live, it will annihilate Ford, since their F150 is what keeps them going. All "Tesla shorts" go SHORT FORD NOW?!?!?!?

Your TESLA content is best on youtube. You spit out facts!! deserve more subs
Thanks again for good stuff.
I wish Tesla would build in the Berkshires where there are huge abandoned factories from GE.
What workers ? Robots doesn’t need cars.
Great video! Thank you.
4:35 The Colorado River is not in Texas, but Texas does have several beautiful rivers and the Colorado River is a few miles from Tesla Nevada.
8:19 With that much money on hands, they could start 2 more factories, with no problems. If, they see an endless demand.
TESLA is already Ramping FREMONT & Shanghai.
Great video, thanks.
How far is Nevada built out? And why not.
I think Elon realised that the location wasn't ideal and rethought the idea and built in Texas instead.
Nice Video 👌
I like this guy! 👍🏻
very very interesting, thanks!
Very good analogy as always. Thank you.
Tesla has an ace card. Tesla margin is high 20s, they want to be in 30 before market saturation. When competition gets tougher and we know there will be. They will reduce prices to eliminate any strong competitors.
The supply chains to supply these factories and the delivery logistics with everything in between.....
FINALLY SOMEONE CALLS ice cars by their name :

The main limiting factor, unfortunately unaddressed in EV-oriented podcasts, is grid generation/storage capacity. Not easy to quickly resolve given permitting constraints, both organic and orchestrated.
Depends where you live. I live in France and we produce too much electricity so sell it to neighbouring countries.

@@philliptemple4534 Yep, I used to work for EDF North America. France has been the most rational country when it comes to the grid and their available domestic resources.

Hi Lars! I'm thinking Mach-e sales will remain the same next year, and then drop just like the Bolt did.
Great episode Lars! Pretty obvious that the $25K car will be made in new factories on existing sites.
Why is there not solar panels on top of that huge building?

Noticed one of the main news channel was making much hay about the Tesla recall. I think the head of the auto safety board has a big conflict of interest. No mention of why the cars are being recalled. Must be hard to negatively spin a frivolous recall.
