The Cybertruck is ugly and nobody will ever buy one. -2019 The Cybertruck is saving me $1200 a month in fuel! -2024 The Cybertruck is the best selling truck in America. -2027
It is seriously ugly, though. I say this as a Tesla owner and (decreasingly) stockholder. You have to see one on the road to realize how stunningly ugly they are, compared to any car or light truck in my lifetime. Wow, did they lean in on that. Videos don't do it justice. Even in the showroom you only get a little sense of it. I get that there's a hipster anti fashion vibe, but people may tire of it when the next thing comes along. Also, it's hard to become mass market if you loudly support the politician and party that boisterously hates EVs, and alienate the other half of the political spectrum. Musk made it clear, he's not interested in horse carriages anymore, only AI. So, without a dense network of 350kW-500kW chargers, even (especially) in rural areas, and ability to charge that fast, it's hard to see it taking over the pickup truck market. Even the city runabout market seems hard, if HOAs start forbidding it, or some parents fear children chopping fingers off. Even the meme that Tesla is an AI not EV company will put many people off from a purchase that might leave them with an unsupported dud, as the firm is visibly asset stripped to put big money in other interests. If Musk had stayed on the track of ever cheaper cars, Tesla would still be headed for 20 million vehicles a year, not exulting about modest increases in sales of a niche influencer vehicle, now that it's finally in production. Or if Tesla had designed a serious pickup, as others are (but that targets only a few countries). Or even a van. More likely timeline, Tesla reaches the end of the CT waiting list late in 2025, and sales stop tracking production ramp. Sales drift down. Lots start filling up with unsold. BYD pickups start gaining more attention, and plants open in Mexico, Turkey (0 import duty to EU), Bulgaria. BYD already builds vehicles in America. Tesla and other legacy makers take refuge at the top end, while overseas firms take the mass market. We've seen this movie before.
Cybertruck ramp is coming to Canada soon. Around Toronto, all Model 3 and Y deliveries are being consolidated to one showroom in the west end (Etobicoke) to make room for all the Cybertrucks in the other showrooms that will also only deliver S and X models. Should be interesting!
I gotta be honest... I'm not real excited about BYD cars. Not only are they not exciting in and of themselves but the reliability is sub par. Not sure if it's inherent to the manufacturer of they have just spread themselves out with too many models with even more variants of each.
About Legacy Auto to SUMMARIZE IT: THEY'RE FCUCKed. Done. Finito. Finished. They're the new Blockbuster video, the new Vinyl record, the new Kodak, the new Horse, the new analog camera.....DONE. We don't need to hear more. They're done. Why report on their slow demise? So much fun/good EV news.
Plug in EVs are actually very popular in Europe and also China where they are often lumped in with “electric only” sales in an “electric” sector. Why ? Using electric around the city & using gas for the occasional long trip makes perfect sense for drivers and also better than ICE only for the environment
I don't think anyone ever suggested the CyberTruck would be eclipsed in EV Truck sales, at least for a while. If you compare CyberTruck sales to Truck sakes, it's totally insignificant & it's trending that Hybrid sales are likely to eclipse it like they are all EV sales. All legacy manufacturers have stated they are failing in the Chinese market so I don't know why you suggest they didn't and BMW who you take great pleasure in bagging just suppased Tesla EV sales in Europe.
Ah yes BMW outsold Tesla for one month... and the previous month Tesla outsold BMW 3 to1. So BMW saves up EV deliveries to release them all in a month and narrowly surpassed Tesla for that month and we are supposed to be impressed? Model Y sales are down 29% YOY yet it's still the best selling EV in Europe. So even when Tesla is down it still kicks BMWs @ss. Tesla is less than 20% sales away from outselling all of BMW including ICE vehicles.
I got my cyber truck 2 weeks ago. Been having too much attention one guy followed me in my gated community. I immediately called the cops. The cops showed up and gave him citation for trespassing and he was escorted out. The cops wanted to drive it so I gave them my thing. All I said was don’t drive it outside. They loved it. They came in my house for a snack. I talked them into getting one for the police department. Thank goodness we have police.
I think its a bit unfair to compare sales of the cybertruck with years of reservations to fill to EV trucks that have been on sale for years. CT sales are still mostly old reservations. wait for the hype to die off before comparing.
IF GOVTs MAKE IT MANDATORY FOR ALL CAR MAKERS TO PROVIDE 10 YEAR WARRANTY ON ALL THE IMPORTANT PARTS OF CAR (ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, WELL IN CASE OF EVs THE BATTERY, AND ITS HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEM, ALL SAFETY FEATURES ETC) THEN CARS AUTOMATICALLY WOULD BECOME RELIABLE. IT IS NOT THAT LONG AGO, ALL MERCEDES CARS HAD CAROLLA RIVALLING RELIABILITY... DESCRIBED BY REVIEWERS AS BEING BULLET-PROOF
Remember: critical problems of legacy automakers come from Chinese market and Chinese rivals. 👈 Tesla's impact on them is less important (although rising).👈
Stallantis management saying auto industry is survival mod, maybe their businesses in survival mode because the auto motive need 100 million cars each year to replace all existing old models that reach their life expectancy.😂
Tesla is a Robotics, AI, Energy and, oh yeah, Car company. The standard (non-FSD) auto component will soon be overshadowed by each part of all the rest.
What is Tesla going to do about supplying BEVs to the largest segment of the Western population: Apartment dwellers?!? These people typically need a small City Car that doesn’t need to be lightening fast or have long range. It should also be fairly inexpensive. But the number one issue with supplying BEVs to this segment of society is solving the charging dilemma. As long as we don’t address this segment BEV sales will be limited. 👀
Most apartment dwellers don't by new cars, plus there will be lower priced EV'S. Apartment complexes compete for renters, and as more and more people are renting from apartments with charging, leasing companies will partner with charging companies to attract buyers
Do all apartment dwellers own cars? I bet most of them use some other form of transportation. How about a car that picks you up and takes you wherever you want for a very low price? Tesla Cab could do it for as little as $0.25/mile.
@@lakescottful The problem is the Chinese already have these cars selling new at $10,000 to $15,000. They’re cheaper than used Teslas and the US and Europe are fighting to keep them off their markets.
What he is not telling you is that moo moo is a chinese company .. And you have to give them all your information including ssn and a photo of you drivers liscense ... Sorry but not going to do that 😂😂
Wouldn’t buy a BYD, or any Chinese company’s car… until that country is run by a decent government. Which seems likely to be not in my life. And the only reason hybrid sales ever grow, is ignorance. I’m not saying there’s 0 market for hybrids.. but it’s tiny.. smaller than even the market for real ICE vehicles, assuming the public was educated and experienced with EVs
Government, like politics, is hard. Dictatorships have control advantages that democracies don't have, but I think the biggest problem is free markets attempting to compete with governments. We (the US) have a 370 % trade deficit with the Communist Dictatorship of China. We simply cannot afford to trade with people who don't trade fairly.
@@wilfredvanvalkenburgh2874 of course youtube scrubs any mention of the horrors of the CCP and deleted my post.. so i’ll just say.. they aren’t getting support from my wallet any time i can avoid it
@wilfredvanvalkenburgh2874 Who is trading unfairly? The US has given massive handouts to it's auto industry, the ira subsidises US manufacturers, and Chinese companies face 100% tarrifs. The reason Chinese man7facturers out-compete the US is not the Ccp, or even low wages (although that's a factor),it's because they are more efficient, more agile, and they are prepared to operate on lower margins and invest for the future - and that runs right through the supply chain. Why would anyone think the Chinese would be content with being a cheap labour pool for western companies, incapable of developing technology themselves? That's a pretty racist way of thinking imo.
@@zSion yeah? Go visit North Korea.. go hang out with an average citizen there for a month. Tell me what you think. The only reason THAT horror exists, is because the CCP wants it. Then.. go to Tibet.. ask them what they think about the CCP.. then go find some of the Uyghurs in the death camps in China and see what they think about how great the CCP is. Same for quite a few other various religious sects there. Yeah.. you want to support em? Go ahead. NOT ME Oh yeah.. and let’s not forget the support they give to Russia to continue their horrors against Ukraine.
BTW, Tesla loses money on each Cybertruck. Because of its niche market it will never make a dent in company profits. Crow all you want, Tesla has one model.
BYD BEVs look pretty good. But, watching them and other Chinese BEVs on Bjorn Nyland’s channel shows how inferior they are to Tesla especially their drivability. Also, the tech is still not comparable to Tesla. Many won’t care about these. I looked at the Euro NCAP ratings and it appears Tesla is head and shoulder above them as well. Buyer beware.
Bjorn Nyland never tests the best chinese EVs simply because they are often not yet available in Norway and because he does not have all the contacts needed to gain access to the latest and greatest models. The Zeekr 7X is way ahead in technology than anything Tesla has ever produced. And the Zeekr 7X is not even an expensive car which focuses on the highest quality possible but it sells for under $33k in China, cheaper than the Model Y. The Euro NCAP ratings of the latest chinese EVs are always a minimum of 4 or 5 stars for Chinese cars meant to be global models. The Xpeng G6 has 5 stars for instance.
Can't believe how many articles online casually talk down the Cybertruck, refering to 'design flaws' and such as if it's just a given that the truck is already recognised as a failure. This is sponsored FUD no doubt - some people with deep pockets do not like this truck.
Tesla wins again!! Second-hand Tesla's model 3 (2019) are breaking all records because the residual value will drop below €10,000 in the Netherlands at the end of this year. The competition has no answer to this yet......
I wouldn't say BYD hiring to 900K employees is good since most of the Chinese auto makers are not profitable already, hiring more head count just increases their expenses and not increasing their efficiency. They're controlled by the CCP which prioritize employment to decrease social unrest.

Plug in EVs are actually very popular in Europe and also China where they are often lumped in with “electric only” sales in an “electric” sector. Why ?

BMW are nice cars. The first 4 years from new. Then starts the money pit..... That's the reason that second hand BMW's are so cheap.....
Hilarious nonsense, 75% of the population have garages and/or driveways that enable charging at home.
10/10/24

Bro how can you say that. Their government has transformed their country in such a positive way
@@zSion yeah? Go visit North Korea.. go hang out with an average citizen there for a month. Tell me what you think. The only reason THAT horror exists, is because the CCP wants it. BTW, Tesla loses money on each Cybertruck. Because of its niche market it will never make a dent in company profits. Crow all you want, Tesla has one model.
😂

Is Elon buying Ford?
I wouldn't say BYD hiring to 900K employees is good since most of the Chinese auto makers are not profitable already, hiring more head count just increases their expenses and not increasing their efficiency. They're controlled by the CCP which prioritize employment to decrease social unrest.

In Canada EVs are not doing so hot. Ice cars are still in high demand. EVs are overly expensive and unreliable in cold weather. The charging networks are a joke. Don't get me wrong , I would love one but costs make that unrealistic
Teslas are not unreliable in cold weather. You lose a few miles in range just like an ice car. The total cost of ownership is much less than ice cars.
