Well Lars, I am just a consumer and placed my order for a Semi truck back in April 2020. I plan to lease it out to local freight companies, perhaps also hire me a driver. I cannot wait. The cost of shipping is only gonna go up due to the driver shortage and continuously increasing Diesel costs. I consider this an investment more than just buying a truck.
My neighbor is a driver, and I’m thinking of partnering with him. Once these vehicles can platoon together, one driver three trucks , profit profit profit. !!
I'm not aware of the rest of this channel production, but this is just complete rip off of Tesla's presentation from 2017. Basically not even one new fact.
Don’t underestimate the power of the predefined routing technology. Quite a lot of the long haul, more expensive, trucking is on very well known routes that are very repeatable. Most long haul goes from distribution center to distribution center. These distribution centers are often outside of large cities centers. The local driver takes it the last mile. If you make autonomous the long haul stuff, it will free up a workforce for the more challenging local parts.
As an Operations Manger (retired now) for a Truck/Crane Company, there were 3 conditions that needed to be attended too in order to keep the machines rolling; Men/Women, Machine's & Weather. The tendency for humans to grow tired kept me awake at nights, with Autonomous Vehicles that also measure the psychological state of the driver & can communicate through the Driver's language by giving a soothing analysis of his/her state of mind should help keep Dispatcher's from losing their State Of Mind!
They've tested the new batteries kept under wraps in the semi and roadster prior to the unveiling, made deliveries with their trucks and tested loads all this time since after the unveiling, they finished the semi cold weather testing in Canada and Alaska years ago, they have a time tested truck ready for sale when they have the batteries available for mass production. It's everything you can ask for and more than you can imagine.
Can you imagine. A truck driver being require by law tocpull over and take his break and in that time he simply plugs the truck in to get a full state of charge but when he gets back out there on the road he or she now has autopilot that will show traffic around them and in their blind spot as well as keep them centered in their lane. That is a pretty valuable feature to have.
@@KineticEV In the short term the law has to change to recognize that Autonomous Long Haul Trucks make Time Sheets for continuous hours of driving by the Human Driver superfluous because the Human Driver can sleep on long trips because the Autonomous Truck is the safer driver. Activity at delivery site will need the human driver also in the short term but eventually drivers will handle the logistics of the trip through off-site monitoring with the voice of the truck yielding to the monitoring driver if delivery site interaction is needed due to changed circumstances!
You're 100% right, I believe. Semi is a crazy-good upgrade for the road shipping industry. It will reduce their costs, reduce accidents, and speed deliveries, while reducing smog and consequent health impacts. There is literally no aspect of this vehicle that will not be better than diesel or existing electric prime movers. Elon predicted that platooning Semis will bring shipping costs below the cost of freight trains. (For those unfamiliar with the term, 'platooning' is a series of Semis with one driver in the lead and autonomous Semis following.) Imagine if freight trains could go anywhere there are roads, instead of being confined to rail tracks - and cost less at the same time. Today, a long line of semis often pose inconvenience to other travelers, but Tesla Semi doesn't have to slow down for uphill grades. Demand will be incredibly robust. Now the problem is making enough of them. Go faster, Tesla!
Can you imagine how the cost of goods will be if the Tesla semi can gain critical mass? It would change the entire economy. Inflation would be at a headwind overall in the long term. However, I think this could take 15 years or so.
@@jasonc6194 It would barely dent the cost per case average, honestly. That's the only thing shippers know how to track. So much of cost is wrapped up in the rest of the supply chain... That's why drivers get paid shite.
@@jasonc6194 The world can't be changed overnight. How long will it take to produce a million Semis? I don't have an answer, but it won't be soon. Reducing shipping costs will be anti-inflationary, but there's an awful lot of variables going into the inflation indices. Shipping costs are not usually a dominant influence; they're a small part of the cost of products.
Lol..... the platoning thing has to be the dumbest idea of the deceny, trucks have very different destinations and departure and arrival, loading time......
The only thing holding Tesla back now is having facilities to build this stuff. Building the places to make stuff is huge. TerraAustin is going to knock it out of the park. GigaBerlin will follow up behind Texas. Seems Berlin is less efficient than Texan thinking! lol They are funny that way.
It will never start a new era in transportation sorry to disapoint you, until its able to haul like a Australian road train, or cross the outback it ain't shit.
Driving a Tesla Semi will be easier than the traditional ones, BUT there is a training requirement for these very large vehicles. Takes about 2 - 3 weeks of training in most cases to get a CDL (Commercial Driver's License), due to the many, many considerations a commercial driver must attend to. Having a 5th wheel and 48 feet of trailer takes some practice.
Remember that the Tesla Semi will automate many of the functions CDL drivers do now. It will probably still take some weeks to get new drivers up to speed, but over time the efficiency gains will be enormous.
@@actionjksn Actually both lengths are considered 'standard' (go figure). The 53' ones tend to have it written on the side; haven't seen many 48' trailers with it written on them.
@Eda Bay-Gaddix Agree, but the transition period will be perhaps 5 - 7 years before the Tesla semi product sells WITHOUT driver controls. Could be sooner, but I doubt it.
First, love your show. Your point stands concerning the superiority of the Tesla semi. However, there is a lot more to driving a semi with a trailer than changing gears. FSD for highway/freeway in the USA will be sooner than in the cities. Driving a rig in the city is a nightmare.
There can be a driver in the a sleepover cab, so actually the big feature is to have quick charging so the drivers can be swapped . In the USA, a truck going across the country can end up going from the ports in Los Angeles all the way to distribution centers in Chicago and even New York City or Atlanta, Georgia. It’s way different in the USA than Europe! Except for charging, that Semi Tractor will be in motion 24 hours, 7 days a week!
Yes that’s done but it’s expensive to have 2 drivers for one truck. So not every long hauler has 2 drivers they just take the time penalty. However, FSD will virtually eliminate that.
@@danielwallace1531 Hmmm..Teslut 3 goes 20 miles per each hour of charging at 240 volts...when it's new; and.... just *WAIT* until a truck needs repairs and you have to wait a month,or 2, for it , NO mech can touch it, Mr.Elon is AGAINST that !!! Yay, the first few comments. Tesla semi version proves much more efficient transport! 😃👍🙏Big transport shippers know costs, less maintenance + safer! Thank you Tesla.
Great video. Except I have to say, as a truck driver, 18 speed is not hard to drive. Also, as a truck driver, trust me when I say you do not want "anyone who can drive a car" to just hop into a semi and haul a loaded trailer over the mountains. I understand your point though haha. I would love to see what options are available to run pumps and other equipment on the trailer / pups. We haul water locally, and a tesla truck would be amazing if it had a day cab as well as the ability to run a water pump.
Tesla Semi, wiping out Peterbuilt, and International sales instantly. 2015 International 500 horsepower $180,000 Cdn. A new Tesla Semi is $180,000 US, and pay for its cost in 2 years in fuel savings and maintenance. Plus, it’s has 1 gear, no stupid 8 gears with double shifting! As a huge bonus, the 4 dependant electric motors prevent spin out common on snow covered roads. Tesla will have to build out a charging network, but then it’s game over.
Trucks largely refuel at huge truck stops. It will be easier and cheaper for Tesla to provision existing truck stops than it is to put in new car only sites. Local only truck lines will install chargers at their own site. The sites are already there for the trucks.
Tesla will have the same problem with its Semi that it has with its cars, a supply issue, not demand. It will take years just to satisfy existing demand, let alone how many folks will want one after they are out and about and they get butts in seats. Imagine how nice it will be in a Semi, when parked, not needing to idle! Diesel trucks idle a crazy number of hours, plus when they are resting at a Truck Stop. In the winter there is a fog of diesel at truck stops. Even light winter. On hydrogen fuel cells, why is it no one bothers to talk about the replacement? Fuel Cells only last appx 100-150K miles (depends on hours more than miles). Then you have to replace the Fuel Cell, and they ain't cheap. Not to mention you can't just let the exhaust (water) spit out the back (imagine the fog in traffic on a cool morning). Of course Big Oil wants Hydrogen badly. They would love another way to enslave us under an additional yoke and keep things as they are.
Don't forget those hydrogen monsters also require? A big battery, electric motors, use an inefficient conversion process. And to top all it off rare earth elements needed for the catalysts have to be mined for. Oh yes and the infrastructure to support them doesn't exist. Where for ev trucks, electricity exists everywhere they go already. 🤔
Ah ha! That explains why the media is pushing Hydrogen so much! Elon was right to criticise it as a fuel source. ⛽ It's a big confidence trick by dirty Fossil Fuel purveyors who have existed on government subsidies all over the world to the detriment of renewable energy sources, suppliers and taxpayers! Not forgetting the pollution of the air we all need to breathe!
You are correct that the biggest problem Tesla has is not enough production capacity. That's why they're building GigaTexas and GigaBerlin. You'll probably see a few more GigaPlants pop up to further satiate the market.

You get this truck and you’ll have drivers lining up to drive for you, and a waiting list to replace those drivers that don’t toe the line in regards to safe and courteous driving as well as abusing their trucks, all small issues with the current driver force as I understand it.
Mischaracterization. Truck drivers (especially over the road drivers) are the most courteous, safe, efficient, and responsible drivers out there...far more so than auto drivers.
One more thought regarding trucks on the road. How trucks are taxed affects how they are used. 20-years ago I used to work for a large printing company with a fleet of lorries. Back then because they only delivered our print the road tax was lower than a general haulier would pay. The transport manager pointed out to me that in the UK there are a lot of trucks driving round empty. If the amount of empty journeys was reduced that might be one more contribution to improving the efficiency of trucks on our roads.

The steering and seat in the Semi truck is in the middle of the cab. I presume this means that it can be driven both in the right and left side of the road. NO need to modify it for different markets.
The semi will have a significant lower ownership cost, no oil, no gas.. minimal maintenance -- should help with cost of goods, by lowering delivery costs
Great video, thanks Lars! You have not really mentioned a key advantage of Tesla Semi truck: SAFETY. Unfortunately today some of the worst accidents are initiated by trucks, and when cars are involved it's a nightmare. When truck driver are too tired you may see them doing dangerous zig-zag, and this is sometimes ending pretty bad. But the worst is in long descents: I have seen trucks with smoke coming out from unusable "burning" disk brakes....and in those conditions they become like a bullet. Tesla Semi regenerative braking will simply be a priceless advantage for everybody on our roads.
Most of us would NEVER think of that! all you awesome contributing producers demonste the irreplaceable value of crowd sourcing; If "2 heads better than 1" - how much better 200 heads?

Great Overview of the Semi-economics there, thanks! I will buy the semi, but not for the autonomy. FSD 4 or 5 is 10 years away. Full autonomy requires decision making and human to truck interactions like; "back into bay number four and wait their until bay eight is free then move there". Another example... at an inspection or weigh station: "your load weighs too much and your truck is missing mud flaps so you need to remedy before continuing"
Such great exceleration, your entire load busts through the trailer back door onto the road, new quick way to unload!!! Need to tie loads down better!!
Great video Lars! Thank you / Tak! However you do forget to mention one important point : Production of the Semi is currently on hold due to a lack of batteries. Tesla is giving priority to the mass production of model 3 and Y which make more money leaving no battery capacity to produce the Semi. It would be interesting to hear your opinion on when you think Tesla will have enough battery capacity to satisfy model 3 and Y demand so that they can ramp up Semi production for real.
No. Its 4 years now since the introduction of the Semi truck and it looks like there is some distance to go. I am a fan of what Tesla has done but we have to hold them to the same standards as we do others. Tesla have not delivered the Semi as yet. I will believe it when I see a Semi pass me by in service in the street. Its not that it is impossible to make such a truck - of course its not. But it hasn't appeared as yet despite all the inevitable interest from all the corporate customers such as DHL and just about everyone in the transport sector.
Tesla semis have been spotted in the wild for some time now. True, mass production haven't started and neither have deliveries to real customers, but it's way past vaporware. The delay is mainly due to limited battery production.
Part of the problem is that many states have legalized marijuana in one form or another. The federal medical exam for CDL certificates tests for drug use, this tests for marijuana. Damn: can I ever be slow sometimes. Not only is the central driver's position better for sight and manoeuvring, but it makes the truck saleable in ANY jurisdiction. North Americans drive on the left, Brits on the right? No problem! Same truck. minor changes. I have a hunch that Tesla should be considering a central driver's position for their GT* model. ( the much vaunted and anticipated $25,000 "peoples' car" ) Yes, that's a dig at VW. Also, the driver shortage might not be so consequential if one factors in Tesla's capability to "wagon-train" their semis. For large volume transporters Tesla can even make "locomotives" as a pilot car, where the driver sits and "freight cars" without the need for even a cabin as foilow-tainers, or F-trains for short. Lars, you are my FAVORITE Tesla/Elon Musk channel, and I love all the great things you say about the Tesla semi... but the reason they're NOT on the road yet is because Elon hasn't got the 4680 cells ready for production yet, as they still have some production challenges to work out, which I hope they get accomplished soon! You are usually well informed and spot on. This time, I'm not sure but I do hope you are. Btw. Are diesel semi trucks hard to drive? Not today. Today they all got automatic or semi automatic gearboxes unless order'd otherwise for specific usage or for older drivers that does not wanna change their way. Also when will Tesla ramp up production of the Semi? There are already several BEV semi trucks available both in US and EU. Ok most of them are not really intended for long haul at the moment but will work well for city wide deliveries or medium long trips. As long as there are on site chargers at both end's we already got options for BEV semi's that will work for specific routes and companies. But they will never have the mega chargers. That center driver position, is it really better? All that being said, I am excited to see the final production ready Tesla Semi. The electric motor should be the perfect drive train for heavy haulage. All torque all of the time. I would love to see munro do a tear down of the Tesla Semi.
The Grapevine leads out of LA towards the worlds largest valley , and you cannot imagine the problems caused by trucks lack of power there. In some areas the trucks must use their on specially constructed bridge, in other areas they mix in with traffic and slow it down, in other areas they are restricted to specific lanes, they have runaway truck emergency ramps, and the worst part… : . A truck going 57 mph will want to pass trucks going 55 mph on a two-lane highway, causing a massive blockage for miles in the remaining lane as it passes a CONVOY of Many trucks if you’ve never seen this extraordinarily mountainous region with an extraordinarily high amount of highways and traffic and truck traffic just north of Los Angeles, you cannot possibly imagine it. The scenario of trucks passing trucks actually is the worst part for most traffic, and it continues all the way up through the central valley, where is flat!!
wow! Thank you for that tremendously valuable insight. Probably every driver has suffered a single occurrence of that on most any road, and can almost imagine what it's like when it never ends!
@@markplott4820 in a previous post I also wrote most Semi trucks in USA are using automatic transmissions. I do not doubt a Tesla will accelerate quicker and for the record I am pro Tesla and have a Cybertruck on order. I just want the facts correct.
leading cause for driver shortage is that they are not paid enough, and that automatization will completely destroy their livelihood so who would want to be a truck driver?
At about 15:30, you say "One of the leading causes keeping the driver shortage high is the high average age of the current workforce." This exactly backwards. The high average age of truck drivers today is an EFFECT, not a CAUSE of the driver shortage. The basic cause of the driver shortage is the failure of the field to attract young replacement workers, so that as the existing population of drivers gradually gets older, on average, they are not being replaced by younger drivers.
it seems both are symptoms, equally. What is the CAUSE of the failure to attract youth? I see an ad on the back of practically every truck (starting pay? training too expensive or difficult? not high-tech: not sexy? or not S3XY?
I live in a rural area with truck drivers who own their own rigs. You can't own a rig living in an apt and homes are getting out of reach for younger drivers.
Thanks Lars another great video - yet again the big takeaway is the cultural difference between Tesla and the existing competition. Tesla products just make you want to take a closer look, the others are "so what".
There is a private company that is starting to install electric charging stations, they could easily branch out to H2 stations. The high cost of H2 equipment is a very good point, though. Gen 4 nuclear power can also produce catalyzed H2 with the right equipment. There is another company that has a ambient pressure and temperature H2 adsorption system which might work out.
As a truck driver of 50 years, did I miss the bit about the self changing flat tyres and of course the computer could not possibly break down, [I mainly drove outback Australia]
There is an important metric you're missing which is the weight of the batteries and the resulting ultimate cargo capacity. There is a maximum legal permitted weight of the rig and the tons of battery eat into the maximum cargo budget. Less cargo capacity costs trucking a lot. EU and US are in the process of making some special rule exemptions for just EV trucks, which seems like a cheat because they're still weight on the roads, but even with that it's not clear what the real cost to freight companies will be. Depending how that equation works out, lighter diesel trucks with higher cargo capacities may still work out more cost effective (at least in some places). For EV trucks, maximising range is not actually the optimal cost efficiency strategy because that's weight you always carry and loss of income from the reduced cargo allowance. Better is to use a shorter range that is more similar to the existing driving route stops and therefore lighter batteries, charged more often, and allowing the truck to carry more money earning cargo. Likewise, your unloaded 0-100 speed and some of your other metrics are of no value to an industry that is all about moving cargo and trimming pennies where they can.
unless the laws change, no one should ever blame you for making the decision purely on economics. We'll wait patiently for you to go green when it's financially beneficial.

This is super exciting. Tesla should charge $350,000/SEMI or even $500k and not $150k due the the INSANE VALUE it offers! Mainly due to 1. The VALUE it offers, 2. The massive monetary savings, 3. The Alternative cost of batteries they could use for high-margin Model S,3, X and Y.
Don’t worry; they will. Just like the updated CyberTruck page and jacked the price on the Model 3 and Y, the Semi will not retain the same pricing from four years ago.
yes, and will most likely increase prices if and as warranted by overwhelming demand producing years-long waiting lists, plus shortages, inflation, and what not. But, they will also DROP prices whenever possible, to help achieve their prime directive (see Elon), while maintaining margins necessary for survival.
Once Tesla has satisfied the initial orders for early buyers who paid as I understand it the full price up front I am sure that Tesla will put the price up. And because they not dealing with retail buyers there will no need to gently raise the price to avoid upsetting people. They can jack it up in large dollops :-)
Consider also with trucking you can put supercharger banks at the warehouse docks so the truck charges as it is loaded/unloaded, eliminating most fueling stops
Tesla semi will be $300 grand more like now I reckon. Battery supply too limited and economics too good to be selling at $200 grand plus inflation has ramped costs
You can also look to have a surcharge on registration on these vehicles because of not paying road taxes when they buy "fuel ". Illinois just did this to e.v. owners on license plates for e.v.s . They went from 151 dollars a year to 550 dollars a year.
The semi probably has more orders than they can comfortably fill for the next two to three years Lars, so those who are already making EV semi trucks and have contracts will be fine...until Tesla needs to find new contracts. It will be the clear winner, but again it's limited only by how fast they can scale. VW and BYD won't break out into a sweat immediately but they will have to check their side mirrors because the Semi will be looking to overtake, in time. The industry of fleet managers are very conservative, the "early adopters" like Pepsi will be a key factor as to how successful the semi will be here in the USA. VW may be glad they will be production restrained for a bit, and that there is so much business here in the USA. If after they clear that backlog... The EU and the rest of the world is fair game.
There's no competition in the EV semi segment at all, or any EV segment for that matter. Not yet. It's purely a demand issue for all manufacturers of electric vehicles and semis in particular. Only when the last Diesel truck have been manufactured (I doubt it will be sold) will the competition start - amongst all the non-Tesla manufacturers.
Hydrogen is a joke. If you aren't using renewables to produce hydrogen, you lose the efficiency in the production process. Might as well charge a battery with that power instead. And containing, transporting, and dispensing hydrogen is dangerous and very difficult. It is the smallest and lightest element after all.
Yez wee met the problems alreddy in 2003 when here in Europe, with a whole iot of hydrogen busses, they were twize the price of trolleybusses, and demand full time repairman and the enery consumption 😫. Plus the infrastructure needs building, at great expense. We already have a serviceable electricity grid. Big auto like it because it retains the filling station business model. Hydrogen is a dead end for personal transport and Tesla will make it a dead end for road freight, too.

That's why Tesla will announce an RV or at least a van sometime soon (hopefully!). People already live out of their Model X today.

@@gcauldwell Yes, this video only summarized, what was said on Tesla presentation, nothing else. Just lost time wathing it.
@@DannyCzech So why did you watch it?
Don’t underestimate the power of the predefined routing technology. Quite a lot of the long haul, more expensive, trucking is on very well known routes that are very repeatable. Most long haul goes from distribution center to distribution center. These distribution centers are often outside of large cities centers. The local driver takes it the last mile. If you make autonomous the long haul stuff, it will free up a workforce for the more challenging local parts.
Good points. (BTW, geofenced FSD will be dead in the water when a road is closed - until ... towtruck arrives? or ... spring?)
I agree with you, and I think Tesla believes the same thing, long-haul will be autonomous pretty soon. It’s the easiest problem to solve.
Elon: 1 Down, 1 in progress, 1 ToDo
@@KineticEV
In the short term the law has to change to recognize that Autonomous Long Haul Trucks make Time Sheets for continuous hours of driving by the Human Driver superfluous because the Human Driver can sleep on long trips because the Autonomous Truck is the safer driver.

"The Tesla Semi Is An Engineering Failure" = is a real good video.
It takes 2 to 3 weeks to train a new McDonalds worker.
Remember that the Tesla Semi will automate many of the functions CDL drivers do now.
It will probably still take some weeks to get new drivers up to speed, but over time the efficiency gains will be enormous.
Semi trailers are actually 53 feet not 48 in the United States.

@@richb2229 even if FSD were perfect, if would take a while for the Federal Government to act and allow the driver rules, and log books to change.

Biden wants thousands of new charging stations as part of BBB.
Wow, I should have bought more stock….thanks for the update Lars, we live in amazing times
yeah .... should've bought more before split
Who'd have thought that Elon was right about hydrogen? I mean it's not like he's ever been right before, is it? 🤣
Joe Justice asked about $100K share price - he said "conservative". I can see it now

In some areas the trucks must use their on specially constructed bridge, in other areas they mix in with traffic and slow it down, in other areas they are restricted to specific lanes, they have runaway truck emergency ramps, and the worst part… :
.
A truck going 57 mph will want to pass trucks going 55 mph on a two-lane highway, causing a massive blockage for miles in the remaining lane as it passes a CONVOY of Many trucks
if you’ve never seen this extraordinarily mountainous region with an extraordinarily high amount of highways and traffic and truck traffic just north of Los Angeles, you cannot possibly imagine it.
The scenario of trucks passing trucks actually is the worst part for most traffic, and it continues all the way up through the central valley, where is flat!!

leading cause for driver shortage is that they are not paid enough, and that automatization will completely destroy their livelihood so who would want to be a truck driver?
Such a beautiful truck.
At about 15:30, you say "One of the leading causes keeping the driver shortage high is the high average age of the current workforce."
This exactly backwards.
That was a great exposé. I am very excited for this new chapter in the Tesla story. Thanks Lars.
Thanks Lars another great video - yet again the big takeaway is the cultural difference between Tesla and the existing competition.
Tesla products just make you want to take a closer look, the others are "so what".
will be the biggest company in this solar system
There is a private company that is starting to install electric charging stations, they could easily branch out to H2 stations. The high cost of H2 equipment is a very good point, though. Gen 4 nuclear power can also produce catalyzed H2 with the right equipment. There is another company that has a ambient pressure and temperature H2 adsorption system which might work out.
Time to buy Tesla shares
Agree
As a truck driver of 50 years, did I miss the bit about the self changing flat tyres and of course the computer could not possibly break down, [I mainly drove outback Australia]
Aayyyy let's get it Lars....
Love your videos dude. Just FYI it should be 'embarrassingly far behind'
Diesel trucks already hauls many times 80,000lbs, what can electric semi ready do?!
@@carholic-sz3qv Go listen again to the video. I guess you haven't even thought about maintenance and fuel costs have you? Otherwise your comment is as brilliant as saying trains haul many times 80,000 lb. and stop the analysis there too.
useless from any practical viewpoint. Overall costs per ton-mile are the ONE metric to control, to have a financially viable freight hauling business.
@@loftsatsympaticodotc lol.... maintenance is just a part of it, diesel trucks are way more flexible/polyvalent and comes in all configurations possible for all kinds of applications, electric trucks still haven't proven nothing we're still waiting. You must be a troll because I said diesel trucks can haul over 3 times 80,000lb, there are super heavy duty trucks apart the lame 80,000lb trucks that have been in use for decades, just look at Australia Road trains.......
@@loftsatsympaticodotc diesel trucks are able to go basically everywhere yo the remotest places in very difficult conditions. Cost is nothing when you can't be flexible enough.
I'm excited. The future is Tesla!....and I'll try to be nice!
"Lars' distinctive call & gesture to "Be Nice", and the super-clever acronym it refers to, are my 2 favorite reasons for loving him. I'm sure you've seen his merchandise explaining this, but BE-NICE means Buy EVs, Not Internal Combustion Engines. I have heeded his call, and ordered my Model Y a few months ago, I only have til April to wait.
I must figure out how I can do a little app that I can click, and let Lars do his "Be Nice" for the kids.
Early users will have the lower price following by increasing price once the tendance take over.
yes, and will most likely increase prices if and as warranted by overwhelming demand producing years-long waiting lists, plus shortages, inflation, and what not.
Don't forget about mega casting
Hydrogen is a joke. If you aren't using renewables to produce hydrogen, you lose the efficiency in the production process. Might as well charge a battery with that power instead. And containing, transporting, and dispensing hydrogen is dangerous and very difficult. It is the smallest and lightest element after all.
Yez wee met the problems alreddy in 2003 when here in Europe, with a whole iot of hydrogen busses, they were twize the price of trolleybusses, and demand full time repairman
and the enery consumption 😫.
Soo all that speaking of fuel cells, it is not easy not at all.
And besides that, they have to have batteries onboard 😅
Plus the infrastructure needs building, at great expense. We already have a serviceable electricity grid. Big auto like it because it retains the filling station business model. Hydrogen is a dead end for personal transport and Tesla will make it a dead end for road freight, too.

But the stupid scam company Nikola Motor don't think that.
