Mark Weins keeps it real courageously challenging the fresh Korean seafood in Gunsan/군산. I highly respect his bravery on trying some of the seafood that are featured in this video, in fact some of them are truly difficult to attempt to even native Korean. He and his wife show us a great teamwork in the process of recording the food video. I am grateful to see most of his up-close cultural experience and authentic food. Keep showing us good work! 👍
You rock! Thanks for being so respectful to so many different cultures while being brave to try it all. Enjoy your videos, plus taking your family along is the best life!
Mark you are the ultimate food vlogger. You have such an open pallet, never turning away from trying something no matter how nasty. Love how grounded you are too.
What I love about koreans is that they're really generous with their servings specially with their side dishes. If you feel like some food are pretty expensive at first, you won't really regret it after they lay down all the side dishes that come along with it, and not just some sort of boiled potato or one serving of rice.
I just visited Korea in April 2016 and came back in May but I want to go back and enjoy all these food after I watched all episodes. It is so great videos.
Amazing video even for Koreans like me. I left Korea 18 years ago, and you inspired me to travel Korea again for food. I love raw seafood very much and I believe many Koreans love it also! I will travel Korea for food as well as many other countries during my vacation!!!
Looks easy but definitely not a simple job. He is very fortunate to have a supportive marriage n family to go along with this type of schedule. Very appreciated for his video.
Love watching your videos Mark! I'm always insanely hungry after watching. Love your passion for the delightful food types! My best to you, Yin & Micah! Keep putting out these wonderful videos!
I seen in Hawaii video he makes the same faces so you wouldn’t know when but in his old vids he just says it but he dosent now because he don’t wanna be rude
sea squirt, or sea pinapple is one of my favorites!!! Even as a little girl, I thought the taste was odd, but also addictive. Even to this day, I don't quite know why I love it so much.
Mark! you are a true food lover and professional eater! some of seafood you had in the video are hard for many korean people to eat as well, such as sea food pineapple, the worm and so on... :) thanks for trying it. I will give you thumbs up!
Does he have some Korean friends who recommend nice restaurants to go? I was so surprised he knew popular restaurants which foreigners may not easily find out unless he lived in Korea for a long time. I've watched his videos from day 1, and almost all restaurants he have visited are so popular and classic places in Korea.
The black sauce was black bean sauce, I believe. They serve whole noodle dishes smothered in it called jajangmyeon. If it isn't that, it may be a mix of oyster sauce and something else.
Can't believe you came to Korea finally and you tried Korean style seafood especially law fish and other flavour full seafood dishes! Glad you liked those dishes and I was so happy to see your happy face whenever you are eating. I've never seen any youtuber who tries or likes those kinds of traditional Korean food (usually many UA-camrs have stereotype of Korean style raw seafood because that's very intense I think) and I subscribed your account from very long times ago but never saw Korean food post. Now here I am! Very glad to see you're truly enjoying Korean food and as always I thought you know how to eat. Properly or Perfectly. Thank you so much for your video! ❤️
my home town gunsan, i was browsing some Korean food here on UA-cam, and i bump into this one, i will take my boyfriend to those places u mentioned here. I'm so excited now
Gunsan was my home for 4 years. Lovely little town. Spent so many weekends combing through the alleys with Japanese style houses. Brought back old memories. Thanks for the video 🙂
Mark I thoroughly enjoyed watching your video. You are very good at describing the food and I like the fact that you are not afraid to try different things. Keep up the good work. Cheers.
Mark, your videos are so addictive. I was binge watching yours and truly appreciate your efforts. I am Korean and I cant get enough of sea pineapple, sea cucumber and abalone. You had the freshest ones there! I wish I were there too. Thanks for wonderful videos and keep up the good work!
I live in a small town in Arkansas. We have plenty of fish but absolutely no seafood. If you can find crab, lobster or oysters they are frozen and not fresh. Oysters in cans. Seafood is my favorite food. Especially crab and lobster. I wish I was still able to travel. I would go to where the seafood is fresh and plentiful. I would be in heaven ! Thanks Mark for letting me travel by watching your vids ! Say hi to Ying and Micah for me.
I personally had sea pineapple in Korea and it's true, you will not like it if you don't like seafood. The taste is so strong it lingers and proliferates your whole mouth. I don't know how he kept a smile throughout the whole meal.
That [ fish ] name's were called [flounder]!..Thank you mark!.. I'll really enjoy to watching your video!...I hope U and your family always have a wonderful life!..
it is great and funny that you didn't lose your smile on your face when you eat the raw fish dishes. Yeah actually even Koreans don't enjoy some of the raw fish dishes that you eat. Great of your professional attitude.
Mark, thnaks for the intertaining video. I visited Korea 3 times and my wife is korean. Small tip, visit Sukcho city in Kangwondo Province on the East-Sea (Sea of Japan) its near mount Soraksan and you can enjoy King Crabs and squid which the province is famous for. Another tip is Beosing tea fram. Its tradionally known for good grean tee and its in South-Cholla provice.
mark is a multi cultured person, the most unbiased man if you are talking about food. he had eaten some food that people considered bizarre like durian, insect, blood clams, etc. and thus he can give objective review and description of the food.

I use to love eating silk worms when I was a little girl living in Korea. Then I grew up and found out what it was....I just couldn't. Don't ask me what I thought it was to begin with cause it looks pretty obvious what it could be!!! Bravo to you for trying all those sea food. More than I would do!!
I enjoy the quality of your videos. The great atmosphere of the Korean Restaurant. The seafood Noodle looks really delicious! Can't wait to try it! Thanks for sharing!!!
I just love the respect you have for each place you visit! I look forward to your lean, smile ,and mm of each food you try. Congratulations on 1 million. You honestly deserve so much more!
The hot brown-sugar bun, it is in fact very good. Had I not tasted it myself, I would be fool by Mark's review and not to give it a try. Luckily it is a traditional natural pastry loved by most Koreans and Chinese. Same for the cold yam-noodle dish Japchae, Mark's says it's too sweet, but that's exactly how it should be... Somehow I feel it is not the best choice for Mark to review any Korean food, because Korean food in general is hot and sweet and spicy, he gave so many great Korean dishes the "polite so-so" look, as a Chinese, I felt his reviews on the entire Korean series tend to be biased, very personal opinion of himself. It's almost like someone who doesn't like sour taste and coconut cream taste went to Thailand, and gave a so-so look for the majority of the dishes, it can lead to very misleading reviews.
I don't think so. Anyone who watches Mark's videos knows he does not like sweet. HE SAYS IT EVERY TIME HE EATS SOMETHING THAT IS SWEET. I personally am not turned off by his like/dislike of foods, especially those that are sweet as opposed to savory and I bet most of the people who watch Mark's videos feel the same. Also, he's a food lover; not a critic. Therefore, I think he is entitled to have his preference.
Mark Wiens thank you for traveling for food, and sharing it with us!! Your videos are so full if anticipation and goodness, and Oh WOW I get SOoo hungry when I watch your videos! BTW if no one has said, the American name (down here in Texas) we call it a flounder. Thank you for sharing your travels !! 🍜🍲🐟 🦑 !!

Nice mark say hi to Ying
Some of the food I just look at it and I am like "uggh, it looks digusting like that sea cucumber"...
I second this completely
I’m sorry that was NOT appetizing or tasty at all
You rock! Thanks for being so respectful to so many different cultures while being brave to try it all. Enjoy your videos, plus taking your family along is the best life!
Mark you are the ultimate food vlogger. You have such an open pallet, never turning away from trying something no matter how nasty. Love how grounded you are too.

If you feel like some food are pretty expensive at first, you won't really regret it after they lay down all the side dishes that come along with it, and not just some sort of boiled potato or one serving of rice.
mark is one of the most adventurous eaters around and if he says the sea pineapple is challenging, high chance we're not gonna like it.
I just visited Korea in April 2016 and came back in May but I want to go back and enjoy all these food after I watched all episodes. It is so great videos.
I don’t think Mark has any expression other than a smile! 135 videos in, I’m convinced.
I hope you and Ying are having a wonderful time and enjoying all the wonders God has made!
Amazing video even for Koreans like me. I left Korea 18 years ago, and you inspired me to travel Korea again for food. I love raw seafood very much and I believe many Koreans love it also! I will travel Korea for food as well as many other countries during my vacation!!!

Love watching your videos Mark! I'm always insanely hungry after watching. Love your passion for the delightful food types! My best to you, Yin & Micah! Keep putting out these wonderful videos!
I LOVE THE WAY YOU GET EXCITED AND APPRECIATE EVERY PLATE YOU HAVE
His channel is a reverse Gordon Ramsey. I've never seen anything that this guy doesn't like.
Jay Caitanya I have seen one where he goes a restaurant on a beach in Thailand.

I like watching Mark and he is professional with using chopsticks 💚💚 so much love for food. Good on you Mark.
Mark just did 5 food challenges in one video. Other youtubers should be ashamed.
Name the challenges
Daffa Azizan All the seafood platter dishes at the end - Sea cucumber, sea pineapple, blood clam, penis fish, raw garlic
I was about to say the same thing!
i don't think it's a challenge if he enjoyed it that much lol
MonsterWand Mark is the kind of guy who would eat a Ghost Chilli pepper, and add more Chilli to it to give it more flavor and an extra kick.
Mark Wiens you are a legend amongst the food lovers around the world
Mark Wiens in two words: OH yah.
🤣🤣🤣
In one word: WOW!
What a life Mark!nom nom😛😛😛😛😛😋😋😋😋😂

I've watched his videos from day 1, and almost all restaurants he have visited are so popular and classic places in Korea.

The black sauce was black bean sauce, I believe. They serve whole noodle dishes smothered in it called jajangmyeon. If it isn't that, it may be a mix of oyster sauce and something else.

If mark's head swing like tipsy from a bottle of cognac,
then the food is good.
But if he only nod and say "oh yeah"
The food must be bad
이분이 10일동안 먹은 한국음식이 내가 살면서 먹어본한국 음식보다 더 다양하네. 한국인인 내가 밀리다니... 나도 먹어보고싶은것들인데
ur eyeballs almost fall off every time u tasted the food
The best is when he tastes crispy fat like char sui or lain raw oyster, you know he really appreciates good fresh grub
stuffed with crab and cooked with butter, garlic salt and black pepper awesome.
Please do a episode of Korean Fried Chicken and Beer! 🔥
the sea pineapple... I do not eat that one because its bitter taste, but full of water! Amazing Mark that you enjoys everything!
ying's reactions are so cute in the background >.
my home town gunsan, i was browsing some Korean food here on UA-cam, and i bump into this one, i will take my boyfriend to those places u mentioned here. I'm so excited now

IT IS NOT!!! SHE IS A CUSTOMER who is wating the ordered food....

Gunsan was my home for 4 years. Lovely little town. Spent so many weekends combing through the alleys with Japanese style houses. Brought back old memories. Thanks for the video 🙂
Jjampong is my most favorite Korean food. Love the seafood in it and so spicy :) That looks really good!
I am so jealous and hungry on seeing Mark! Who else wants to eat whatever mark eats?
Mark looked very vampire-like having that veiny shell fish with that blood on his face XD great vid yet again! Thank you
It is called blood sea shell.
You're gorgeous 💓
Thank you for watching!
Great vlog as usual. Having tasted everything, your descriptions are spot on! You have great respect for food and cultures.
The lady at the back table keeps watching them. She’s very interested in them. Lol
Yea but her gaze didn’t seem friendly at all…I’ve seen others in Korea look with kindness not her
You can tell when something isn’t good, he just looks at the camera
Lool, "I think we can all figure out what it looks like.." 😏
Mark I thoroughly enjoyed watching your video. You are very good at describing the food and I like the fact that you are not afraid to try different things. Keep up the good work. Cheers.

+Mark Wiens flat fish looks like a flounder
That's halibut. =)
Hi I've actually started off a food-life style channel, and I'm really appreciated if you guys can stop by and check it out 😉 Thanks a lot! 😘
What is it called?
I personally had sea pineapple in Korea and it's true, you will not like it if you don't like seafood. The taste is so strong it lingers and proliferates your whole mouth. I don't know how he kept a smile throughout the whole meal.
I like mark but he's too positive about everything. I wish he was more open when he dislikes it without smiling 😭
if he doesnt like it a tiny bit, he just smiles...
His face expression tells you it's a unique taste and you have to have a unique taste to eat it
He doesn't like that seafood
That [ fish ] name's were called [flounder]!..Thank you mark!.. I'll really enjoy to watching your video!...I hope U and your family always have a wonderful life!..
it is great and funny that you didn't lose your smile on your face when you eat the raw fish dishes. Yeah actually even Koreans don't enjoy some of the raw fish dishes that you eat. Great of your professional attitude.
One of the best Mark videos I have ever seen, you are doing it just right!
I m a vegetarian but somehow my mouth is watering after seeing him eat all this food .. strange 🤔🤔
Five years later I'm discovering your videos.....good stuff! :)
the first restaurant wit the lady watching him eat through his camera had me cracking up lol
He is very thin for all of that food that he is eating wow he is amazing
No carbs only protein
It is so fun watching you try that seafood for the first time. I'd much rather watch u do it then try it raw myself lol
that women face tho 😂😂😂
I absolutely love your videos. I like how you edit it, put up names, prices, and willing to try anything (at least once). Thank you for all you do.
There are alot of crazy weird things under the sea
I love how you tried to hype up that plain slice of onion dipped in sauce🤣😊
Yea he does that to food that isn’t that great

Love that flat fish( fluke). I love seafood!!! I wish I can visit Korea soon.
The flat fish in 13:33 is actually Fluke or Flounder
some people also call it Sole fish. love the fish. its so soft.
Actually looks like a halibut
He is very brave eating all foreign food. I am Korean, however, there are many items I never tried. Good for you!
Those clams that you tried at the end were blood clams. Andrew Zimmern trid them on an episode of Bizarre Foods and said they were disgusting.
mark is a multi cultured person, the most unbiased man if you are talking about food. he had eaten some food that people considered bizarre like durian, insect, blood clams, etc. and thus he can give objective review and description of the food.
I just said facts. I'm a fan of Mark's and have been for a long time, since he started on UA-cam.
most asian country eat blood clams we usually Boil them before eat, mark try the Raw ones but i heard the raw blood clams is dangerous because contain numbers of bacteria
blood clams are a common seafood dish in southeast asia, but in my country (indonesia) people love it when they r eating in a seafood restaurant
eating raw, it's very dangerous for health. In China, they boil them lightly but it's not enough neither.. dangerous too.
=_=. Should eat cockle ! no blood and good for health ! cockle and blood clams look similar from outside
I use to love eating silk worms when I was a little girl living in Korea. Then I grew up and found out what it was....I just couldn't. Don't ask me what I thought it was to begin with cause it looks pretty obvious what it could be!!! Bravo to you for trying all those sea food. More than I would do!!
omg mark!!! coming up to half a million man!!! way to go.. from ur subscriber since 3000 followers... woohoo

You make my mouth watery in the middle of the night.

It’s all subjective anyway.
The background music i love very much. It's really a moodddddd
