Love your series about the process of your in law’s home transformation. I really appreciate how you are so respectful towards their style and you seem to take in to consideration the fact that there are also a lot of FEELINGS moving around when we do renovations, and not just furniture/stuff. I’m currently supporting my parents in their process of decluttering and organizing, and helping them create a less stressful space. It’s a very emotional process. Well just wanted to say thanks, because your videos are a great inspiration. Best wishes from Scandinavia👋

Oh, there have been lots of emotional breakdowns along the way. 💛 it’s such a tough process especially when you go through items from our parents parents. There’s no roadmap for it, ya just have to give it time and patience. I hope you’re able to work through all that to help your parents too 💛 I’m sure they are grateful .

Really lovely!! You've done such a great job incorporating their existing items. I coveted those quilts!! So glad you created a place to showcase them. This has been such an encouraging series for me, as I am (I imagine) close in age to your mother-in-law and have been in the throes of buying a house and moving. Love your design and how you are using items that they already have. Just one thought. Storing quilts in the would box is not good for your quilts. Wood has an acid ph which will harm your quilts. The acid will change the colors and speed up decay of the cotton threads. I know that you will see quilts in wood cabinets. But hopefully the shelf has a layer of protection and the quilts are not touching any wood sides. Maybe you could put a basket or container in your shelf that would prevent any direct contact for you quilt.

a beautiful improvement, so cozy and open. Having quilts, I might take the shelf out and put in a real quilt bar so that it will hang evenly, the way it's hanging now will pull the fabric out of shape, or you could drape them across the chair in the corner. I enjoyed this process and all the thought behind it.

      It's all so beautifully done!
I agree on the bar suggestion for the quilts, especially because they are antique. The older fabric is the more fragile it gets, and the same goes for the thread in the seams. By distributing the weight of the quilts evenly as they hang there will be less stress on the fabric and thread and the quilts will stay beautiful for many more years!

Beautiful choice .

The ceiling made a huge difference!
And the rugs! We always put down a pad before placing a room
    size rug down.

The wall color is nice, but I preferred for the trim to all be white. It seems more classic to me.

An old wooden ladder leaning against the wall to use to drape her antique quilts over the rungs would be a safer choice for the quilts. Those pegs will create stress points that can cause rips in old fabrics, especially when the full weight of the quilt is focused one stress point.

Great point! She was mentioning wrapping string around a bunching on the corner and then hanging them that way (it’s hard to type out what the idea is), but that way they’d be okay. We just left it like this for filming💛 they are her mothers and grandmothers so she’ll def be taking great care of them💛💛

Love the difference the wall color and white ceilings make and how the antiques stand out. Another beautiful change. This series has been so fun to watch. In the living room, the one thing I might have liked to see is that big cabinet painted black. It is a different era or something. It needs to at least match the black chair or be less prominent to me. Since I have a dog, I understand chairs and couches covered in blankets! lol.

Such a beautiful space and I just love the quilt corner. I bet your MIL just loves her new space. I love watching your videos. I find inspiration and lots of ideas. I look forward to your next one. Oh yeah, the lighting is much better without the yellow covers. You and Jackson rock.

Whoo-hoo! Back to Mama Jackson's delightful home to carry on the makeover - I'm stupidly excited.
Yes - Mama Jackson deserves her own art studio - she is obviously a very creative woman and I love the idea of her having her own space to art in. I also love that her treasures are going to be the focal point in her home. I keep thinking of the green-ware plate you used for your Christmas get together at you own apartment - it was beautiful and swanky and put me in mind of a stylish 20's type feel - and like so many of the items you've used throughout the makeover it was gorgeous and deserved to be seen - so yes to all those beautiful things being visible and valued rather than hidden in a box.
Also - homes are for us and our loved ones, firstly and foremost, and precious little pups are included in that category and come a hundred miles before silly rugs from pottery barn no matter how expensive!
Absolutely adored the after - such a welcoming soft gentle cosy space - filled with beautiful items and somehow the furniture suddenly looked elegant and expensive as well as supremely comfy. I hope your mum-in-law really loved it 😊

Everything you said 💛💛💛 and I hadn’t put it into those words until you said it but the furniture did look more elegant after! And you’re so right about our pets💛, they make it home no matter how much destruction they may cause at times. Our home would feel so empty without a tiny kitty always clawing (literally) for more playtime 💛

What a calm relaxing space. Everyone who uses the space must feel the peace and comfort it created after removing the art clutter. I hope the artist will be happy having an art studio in the garage. This makeover is so relatable..... Using what you have and trying not to spend a fortune while reaching one's goal of a refreshed space. Good job!

I’m so glad you find it inspiring! I wasn’t sure if anyone would like it since most makeovers feature buying everything new with extreme change… it’s so encouraging to hear that you guys are inspired by reusing what you already have 💛 thanks for watching, commenting and supporting the channel and series!

I absolutely LOVE this series! I especially like how you reuse old treasures that have been stored away for so long so that they can be enjoyed and reuse decor from other parts of the house! Binge watching all of them! Love them all but this one is my favorite. :)

  • @cristinaflores2411

The décor is cohesive, the vintage touch makes the room cozy. The only mistake I point out is the TV cabinet, which has nothing to do with the style of the room. White cabinets would be a better option.

    • @SpaceMakerMethod

We were thinking of spraying the cabinets but in the end we went with the easier, quicker option of keeping them as is, but spraying is definitely an option for the future!
