Absolutely fixated on this episode. Have you any idea how captivating you are as a presenter. Your attention to detail on everything you do is mind blowing!
This is incredible, thanks for reaching out so we could watch! Love love love that you bought our marbles for his eyes!! You're one of our favorite local artists! 🤩
I have to admit I wasn’t wild about this mug when images were first released last week but after watching this episode I have a much greater appreciation for the design process and how everything came together.
Fun Story... I owe my entire career to the Matterhorn!.. when I was around 8-10 years old I was in line for the ride and I was leaning up against the faux Granite Boulders on the side of the mountain. And I remember looking closely at the surface of the Rock and I realized that it was all little tiny paint Speckles that made it look like granite. I then looked up at the entire Mountain and realize that it was all a bunch of paint Speckles all the way to the top. It was at that moment that I realized that everything at Disney was a Scenic paint to make it look real and that it wasn't actually real. It changed the way I look at theme parks my entire life! And I started to pay attention to how things were done. I love it so much I became a Scenic Artist!
That is incredible!! I can relate, as all I look at when we go to the parks is how the surfaces are sculpted, textured, and painted to appear as something they are not!
Congratulaaaation, what a beautiful piiiiiiece....So happy to see all the process, LOVE IT ❤❤❤ Very cool to see a difference tipe of process, with you sending the product to a factory, and only enjoing the results. hahhahaha
Wow! Congrats to the both of you! It was awesome to see all the nervous excitement in your process transform into joyous excitement at the end. Nice shout out to Tiki Farm! I cherish my alien tiki mugs by them from back in the day. And the lederhosen is a great synchronicity with LPOTL's new series release from a couple days ago. Thanks for sharing! What a timeline!
Thank you so much! I’m super curious about the lederhosen and LPOTL - we listen to the podcast in the studio while seaming mugs, but we’re behind a few episodes. Tiki Farm is such a great company, I’ll sing their praises any chance I get! 😃
It's interesting to see the final result and which details get washed out. But I guess that's the nature of big-batch ceramics. Loved the process though. Thanks for sharing!
Omg! I have so many thoughts! 1) I absolutely love the sculpting montages! They’re sooo satisfying and it makes me miss sculpting in the best possible way. 2) that is such a cool mug! I was so confused how a foot print was going to turn into a mug, but bam! You did it! And it’s so cool! 3) it feels like it’s been forever! I was so, so excited to see a new episode pop up in my feed! 4) I don’t think I could have kept that secret for almost two years! I’m impressed you did it,sad you had to wait, and so happy we still got to see the process! 5) this process was so weird and different compared to your usual sculpts and series runs of casts, it was fascinating to see it go from wax to silicone mold to weird epoxy!
Thank you so much! It was indeed tough to keep it a secret - I was terrified the model would be in the background when I was posting studio shots to Instagram or episodes of TTT to UA-cam! 😂
I love watching your videos. They are so informative and I absolutely love to watch your process. I always learn so much! This is definitely my favorite channel to watch. I’m always excited when I get the VanTiki notification!
Always a treat when I see a new video from you on a Tuesday morning! Congrats on such a wonderful accomplishment! The mug looks terrific and your enthusiasm warms my heart. Keep up the great work!
It's really cool to see the use of SFX materials in this project. I was up in Georgia last year learning how to use those exact materials to make molds to cast silicone medical task trainers. This was a great episode and congrats on being able to make this mug for Disney. Aloha!
My grandparents live just a few blocks from Eugene Toy & Hobby. I remember my dad used to buy his model airplane supplies there. That's about all I remember.
Wow! I'm so happy for you! How awesome that you got to fulfill a life-long dream. It's super fun to watch your process and how much you get a kick out of what you do. Thank you! :)
Amazing process thank you for sharing. I really like to see these videos of concept through to finished product. The evolution of the design from a 2d drawing to a final piece is fascinating!
This is amazing! I watch all your videos and this is so inspiring! Hard work, dedication and talent pay and it is touching to se how happy you are while discovering the mug. Once again, Congratulations!
LOVED this video!! Also your costume as super fun!!! You are such an inspiration! I want to continue to work hard on my ceramic craft to someday have such a cool opportunity like that!!
You know far more about epoxies and castings than I do, but my world is custom cars/motorcycles. So.... Haha, I have one pointer for you. That "Bondo" brand glazing putty, seems like its easy to work with, until you use a better product. If you look for Evercoat, or Upol brand glazing putty, (for the cost, I like "dolohin glaze" or "liquid gold"), you will be blown away by how much easier it is to apply and sand.
That was fantastic! I wonder what kind of drinks they served in it? I think it would be interesting to try to drink from.! as always super entertaining video
So awesome you got to create a product for Disney! I really enjoyed this video from start to finish. Such an amazing experience it must have been for you. Are you done with the Fireball Island series? I would love to see a conclusion to this epic project.
I hope to return to Fireball Island one day! The game has been a coffee table in my den for a while now and I love it - but I do need to do the final step of lining the inside of the crate
Nice. Comment on working w Disney. You made the master mold? You made the mugs? Or sent off to their kiln. How did they pay? Up front? How was their offer? Typical of other clients or less? More? Are you allowed to sell as different variant? Just curious about contract details. Did they pay ur way to the big reveal in California?
Disney was a great client and I feel lucky to have done this. I made the master model for the mug, and handed it off to Tiki Farm for them to produce the ceramic edition of mugs. Disney owns the IP and copyright on the Matterhorn, so I won’t make any variations. As to the rest of the contract details, they are private as I’m sure you understand.
@zielijo1 How much do you get paid at your job? What is your job? How often do they pay you? Do you get bonuses? If so, how much? How often? How much he got paid and the details of his contract are None of your business.
@@zielijo1 How did they pay? Up front? How was their offer? Typical of other clients or less? More? Is pretty much asking how much he got paid and some. Even if he could give you the details of his contract with them, he shouldn't & it's rude of you to ask him these things. They are his personal business.
Technical question. Has anyone ever tried using PVA molds for slip casting? You can print PVA with a 3d printer and it absorbs moisture and breaks down. It would be a disposable mold, so probably not worth the time printing it. But I was just curious. I’m looking for ways to potentially 3d print molds but none of the materials out there are porous enough yet. Maybe a wood fiber PLA? Or AIR Pla that expands when printing. Have to consult the AI.
Several artists 3D design tier pieces and then 3D print a master mold which they then make a silicone mold of to cast plaster production molds from. Hopefully someday I can try it! Check our Hammerly Ceramics: youtube.com/@hammerlyceramics?si=X4XnTzDjHTc8MypC
Ha! Well, it’s a mug because it’s ceramic and you drink out of it - but I know I’m pushing the envelope on the definition. But that’s the fun part of the design process for me!

Wow first. Nice 🎉
Wow how finished version didn't shrink? What did they use?
It did shrink - that is why I scaled up the master model.
@@vantikistudio Does it shrink like it's in scaled in 3d software or little different, lose details etc... ?
@@MultiHeheboy the clay body the mug is cast with shrinks uniformly about 12% - the details remain, just a tad smaller
Can we buy one without going to club 33?
At the moment it is only being offered at Club Thirty-Three.
@vantiki did Disney make the ice pick swizzle stick?
