I bet you could charge $3,000/month and have 1 person stay in a tent and then each day wake up and be your apprentice! I think that would be amazing and there is no doubt in my mind that people would definitely do that and you would have help. There is so MUCH work going in to this mug. Thank you for your craftsmanship:) yay!
They really look amazing and I have to say thank you for giving me a full appreciation of what goes into the making of a mug and understanding of the price, absolutely amazing work
Ya know, the way you video and the perspectives and transitions you do remind me of (old school) Good Eats episodes with . It's nostalgic and entertaining 😊
My ceramics teacher in high school had a friend w/ a pottery studio cat that lived for years in and around the studio. When the cat passed away and was cremated, they found a perfectly formed set of kitten lungs as the cat had been inhaling the powderized silica glazes for so long and had essentially glazed the inside of its lungs pretty thoroughly!!!
I am continually amazed by the amount of detail and time needed to produce your mugs! Nice quality work and attention to detail are greatly appreciated! I have number 117 !
I watched this video, thinking that you had the light source all wrong. I thought that the darker color, for the lava, should be on the bottom. Then, I remembered that lava lamps have a light bulb in the bottom. These are looking great!!!
It lifts a bit of the glaze away - but remember glaze isn’t like paint - it’s a powder. I put the glitter glaze on in several coats, so having the tape lift a bit of the powder isn’t a big deal
So, are you doing something different with these mugs than you have done with past mugs? Is this why the first test glazes didn't go as planned or have you used under glaze with other mugs too?
Well, every mug we do usually involves color combinations that we haven’t tried, and the shapes can add complexity as well. I’ve used underglaze in the past - but not in these combinations. Always best to test! 😄
Always great. You may not have gone to school for ceramics, but you have a master's level knowledge. Cranbrook should get you to do a artist's residency. Cheers.
Watched part 1 and 2 AGAIN! I hope to gain the required amount of patience for careful testing, by osmosis. Are you able to share recommendations for "satin clear" glaze that you spray over the bisqued-on underglaze? Is that a Georgies product? Thank you!
Thanks for the repeat view! I particularly like the Mayco matte clear glaze - but keep in mind that is for my clay body and my application method. Do tests in your studio!
Are you glazing on greenware? That causes pinholes. Also, if glaze is too thin , that will cause pinholes. I watched you pour and your slip seems the proper consistency. But, if you mixed it up really vigorously, it can be the culprit. Even if you wait for it to settle it seems to like to hold onto tiny air bubbles that you really can't see them. I've worked in ceramics for over 50 years and have been called on to figure this kind of stuff a lot. I've gone through many trials and errors to find the answers. I hope I may have helped.
Thank you! I’ve adjusted my firing schedule and it’s helped a lot. Turns out lots of other folks were having similar issues with this brand of glaze. Thanks for the info!
@@vantikistudio Why not a "Chong Tiki Bong"? -Like Cheech and Chong films? No? OK. Well it is time to make them. Sorry, I m just kidding :-) but sleep on the idea. :-) I really like your videos, you make also amazing molds, they too are art! -Good Luck!

Ha! Their tent would have to be deer, skunk, and fox proof! They may want to let the bunny rabbits in. Definitely not the turkeys. 😂
Ha. I would do it. What fun!
I really like the glitter :) 😀🍍👍🏄
Me too!

Yeeeeeah. I’m afraid this is a bit of an urban myth. I’ve heard and read many variations of this tale 🙂
I love the education on glazes. So cool to see all the science and details that go into mugs.
Thank you! I'm learning a lot as well as I go :)
I love how you enjoy the proces :)
I do love my job! 😄

really great, comprehensive stuff. Thanks for all of these!
Glad you like them! thank you for watching!

Exactly! 😄
I'm still extremely surprised that the glaze doesn't come off when you remove the masking tape.

Awesome! I have question. Where does the drink go? It didn't look like there was an opening into the base.
There is an opening on the back of the mug for your beverage of choice 🤙
Another amazing TTT dude. Really appreciate your wealth of knowledge 🤙🏼
I appreciate you watching!
Another enjoyable video. I'm slightly confused though where the beverage goes.
There is an opening in the back for a beverage and straw 🤙
Do you ever sell your seconds? could be cool to have one of the tests!
We sometimes do if they look good - if not, they return to the earth 😄
