Great video! From my experience with my bermuda lawn, bermuda grows extremely fast and I just don’t have the time to cut my lawn every other day to keep it at 1 inch or lower. That’s why I keep mine at 2 in where I’m cutting twice, maybe 3 times a week vs every other day
You say your lawn is bumpy but compared to our lawns around Chattanooga yours looks like a putting green. I moved down here 3 years ago from Michigan and the only thing I knew about Bermuda was that it likes heat and turns brown in the winter. I bought a new house and put in the lawn from seed instead of sod because I wanted Yukon Bermuda since we’re at the northern range for Bermuda. Since only 1% or less of the lawns around here are even close to level we deal with erosion and washing away of the stuff we put on our lawns. I had to plant mine 3 times and was still struggling when I found your UA-cam channel. I’m trying to follow your program pretty close but it’s a little challenging when it’s time to apply something and the forecast is for .25” of rain so I go ahead then we get 3.5” and most of it comes down in an hour. Nothing more frustrating than standing in the window watching all my humid dg run off the lawn. Things are getting better, but sure wish I could get some Humichar. I’m a woodworker and am wondering if I can use my drop spreader to apply sawdust very lightly for organic matter? Thanks for all the help Doc.
Off topic question: I put down a top dressing on my lawn this year after the scalp/dethatch/aeration, and while the growth isn’t being pushed yet (waiting on my PGF Complete shipment) there are some areas where it looks like the Bermuda might be struggling to push through top dressing. Should I reseed those spots, or will the Bermuda push through when I really start to push the growth? Thank you for your time and videos, Doc!
Hey Doc, love the tips, if i am using a rotary mower and the lowest setting is still not taking off the brown can i use a weed wacker carefully to cut it down. Been battling weeds all winter, and thanks to your tips it looks like they are dying off.
My neighbor has green yard like mine. He cuts low and fertilized but it’s mostly weeds while mine is all grass. I do have 3 types of summer season turf.
My lawn (first spring after laying TifTuf sod last fall) is not as laser-level as yours. Do you think a reel mower would still be worth it? And how is the sharpening process on the reel mower? Thanks!
Great video Doc can I cut common bermuda at one inch and keep it there all year live in florida I still have some brown spots hope this gets better I am mowing every three to four days I hope that is okay.
I cut my lawn as short as possible using my Ego battery mower. I also bagged it. We had a pretty good rain and now I have the "clipping ridges" . Is my only option is to rake those ridges besides re-routing my downspouts? ---Thanks
Doc, much love. My yard is really uneven and has mower ruts. How to I properly scalp without doing the big flattening job with sand, and without a reel mower?
Hey Doc my backyard is growing great but my front yard is growing super slow. The only difference in treatment is that I put pre emergent on the front. I’ve put pgf on both. Any ideas on what I can do?
Excellent video, thanks! Question about rollers............not sure i've seen you do a smooth vs. grooved roller. Like what you did with the McLane vs. TruCut video. All the best!
Doc, how did you get your McLane to cut below 1”? I’ve moved the nuts/bolts and lever to the lowest possible setting on my new 25” GR and short of messing with the rear axel, I can’t get it below 1”. I normally wouldn’t bother you with a question like this but the manufacturer in CA doesn’t have any staff available because of the flu. Thanks!
Bob I live in NJ right outside of Philly. I belong to a Country Club out course super lives in Lower Merion. He says you can and as a matter of fact Merion CC redid their entire practice course with Bermuda. Zoysia works well too.
HI Doc, I live in the northeast specifically central New York I love watching your video's but you mostly talk about Bermuda grass, I have mostly fescue, the grasses for the area I live, is it possible if you could offer more for us in the northeast thanks in advance for listening.
Doc talks about fescue, once in a while, but he knows more about Bermuda. The thing with fescue is, you have to over-seed it every other year, I guess, to keep it looking good. I don’t think you have to scalp fescue like you do with Bermuda. Just cut it lower the first cut to knock off the old dead-looking tops from the winter, perhaps one of setting lower than your spring cutting height. Then cut it at the recommended setting for fescue in the spring and early summer, and then perhaps a little higher in the extreme-heat months. There are some other sites that probably discuss fescue more. I suggest checking those out. One of them is @The Lawn Care Nut. Check out his EARLIER videos. He used to live in Illinois, and had a fescue lawn. He also used to work in the lawn care business, so he knows what he’s talking about. He’s not just some homeowner doing lawn care videos. That should be able to help. He now lives in Florida, where he has St. Augustine grass. Still watch Doc, though. He has a lot of excellent ideas on fertilizer and lawn care, plus other topics.
Which area of the country do you work? My Bermuda grass looks terrible. It seems to have taken over by spurge and most weed killers don’t work over 85 - 90 degrees.
My husband bought the organic product at Tractor Supply. In the Best Garden Soil video, Doc mentioned Tractor Supply or a feed store for purchase. It is not available on Amazon.
I have some sort of very dark green stringy grass (almost like onion) coming up in large groups..I have no idea what it is,, I also am having troubles killing it. I used 2-4d tried tenacity.. I even put 365 on it to just kill the entire spot.. it survived
Hmmm. Why? If I cut Bermudagrass short, won't this remove the stolons? I want to keep the stolons because they result in a thicker lawn. Help me understand this.
can you identify the name of the weeds you are showing at the 5:57 mark in this video? OH....and love the shirt she is wearing! "filet and release.....love it!!! "
The rake demonstration you did absolutely did it for me. NOW I KNOW! thanks again!
Just scalped my lawn and used the McLean for the first time to take it down lower. Awesome machine and worth every penny!!
I cant wait for my yard to come out of dormancy. I need some lawn care in my life right now. Keep up the great content.
Jesse Snow Agreed!! We need something relaxing in these times! 👍

Drinking game: taking a shot every time you hear “humichar”

Love you too..........

Icosiol wait for even growth before top dressing. IMHO
Don't reseed. Wait for PGF. You can't buy Bermuda seed in a retail store.
Icosiol Bermuda is tough. It will come through. I do this with a sand mix and it doesn’t take long. Just do it in the active growing season.
What would you recommend for that thumb pain?! A for sale sign?
Doc, give the crew hats.
👍🏽
What do you suggest if I have a mix of Bermuda and St. Augustine?
Hey Doc thanks for your time..? Can I use humic Dg and organic matter until humichar comes available?

Perfect analogy with the rake!

Yes, that area across the street is common.
@@HowTowithDoc Thanks Doc I will keep it at one inch

Hi Doc & thank you for all the help. Starting to get some Crabgrass, when are we using the Dimension & will it help w/that?
Do it now.
Hey Doc my backyard is growing great but my front yard is growing super slow. The only difference in treatment is that I put pre emergent on the front. I’ve put pgf on both. Any ideas on what I can do?
Thanks as always Doc!! Great info!!
Excellent video, thanks!
Question about rollers............not sure i've seen you do a smooth vs. grooved roller. Like what you did with the McLane vs. TruCut video. All the best!
Have you done anything special with sprinkler heads? Do you just make sure they are even with the dirt?
Thank You, yard is looking good! 🙂

I still like ol Tru. It's just cool.
Your grass is so green for early spring!!! I’m in Atlanta and our lawns are still dormant. Where are you?
Doc: Can you grow Bermuda grass in the northeast (Specifically New Jersey)? Or is it a warmer climate grass.
Bob I live in NJ right outside of Philly. I belong to a Country Club out course super lives in Lower Merion. He says you can and as a matter of fact Merion CC redid their entire practice course with Bermuda. Zoysia works well too.

@@alan30189 Thanks my last cut of the year around the first part of November is about half a high as in the summer (about 3-3.5 inches).

@Doc - What’s the organic product you’re going to use? I’d like to get it ordered on Amazon since their deliveries aren’t as fast now.

How To with Doc
Hey Doc, wanted to ask how to get a nice stripe pattern in my Bermuda. Any suggestions?
I have some sort of very dark green stringy grass (almost like onion) coming up in large groups..I have no idea what it is,, I also am having troubles killing it. I used 2-4d tried tenacity.. I even put 365 on it to just kill the entire spot.. it survived
Sounds like nutsedge
Look up nutsedge. Could be that.. and then try specific nutsedge treatment.
Hey Doc, is your lawn already on a water schedule?
Why you didn´t use the grass catcher?
I see you got the gals doing all the work. I have made that mistake with the height
You don't use a grass catcher?
A reel is the way to go! I mow at .50 & use TNex Plant Growth Regulator!!
Thoughts on PGRs?
Kind of wish I had one of those mowers
The existing grass is weak because the sun's rays reach for 5 hours because the shade side is more, is this the reason
Hey Doc.. do we need bagged clips or leave in yard?
If brown... bag it .... green leave it.
@@HowTowithDoc thank you
Hey Doc, I'll let you come dethatch my grass 😊. I already scalped, so the rest of my brown is thatch
Ya people dont usually dethatch bermuda grass
Ben Howard wish I could find one to rent no one has them around me
Hmmm. Why? If I cut Bermudagrass short, won't this remove the stolons? I want to keep the stolons because they result in a thicker lawn. Help me understand this.

I smirked when I saw the shirt too!
It's mostly poa annua
When do I set the length I plan on leaving my Bermuda at after scalp?
The next cut.
I thought Bermuda needed to be kept between 1 and 2 inches.
Doc just said shit 🤣🤣🤣
Still waiting for Pre-Emergent , AMZ delay
Have all kinds of time but no money to invest in my lawn. Maybe next year.
Grow power!
2020 version of Tom Sawyer! Good JOB!!!
Why you wearing camo doc
Struggling to see you
My lawnmower only goes as low as 1.25" so I guess I'm screwed!
Tough I know.
Plus, at 3/4” to 1-1/2” tall, it’s easier to clean up the doggie 🐕 doo doo 💩 off the grass! 😂🤣
White shoes 🤦🏻♂️ hopefully they are old shoes!
