Lego Beer Song - additional scenes (15-year anniversary)

- Many of you know the “LEGO Beer Song” my brother and I shot it in 2004. Two years later, in 2006, we decided to upload it to the - by the time - relatively new video platform UA-cam. To our surprise the video went kinda viral and the rest is history! 🙂
But few people know that the so called “LEGO Beer Song” was meant to be just one scene of a much bigger project, a whole movie actually. Sadly, graduating from higth-school, we never had the time to finish it and the only other finished scene ended up laying around on some hard disc along with a lot of uncut material. Now, as we may consider 2021 being the 15-year anniversary of the beloved stop-motion-clip, we have decided to release the remaining material. 🎉
Here is what we remember from the plot:
0:00 Scene 1: Gybrush, our main character is sent to deliver something to the village by his step-father Jack. The village is presented to the audience as a peaceful place, though we get the sense of something being off, shown by the example of guards overstepping their authority and stealing a barrel of rum from a citizen.
2:12 Scene 2: An old man sitting in a dark alley starts a conversation with Gybrush, claiming to have information about his biological father.
3:03 Scene 3: FLASHBACK: All the lords of the kingdom ride into the castle to have an emergency meeting. The king is about to die, and they are to decide who will reign the realm until his only son comes of age. But lord George and his black knights betray them all and George seizes the power. Meanwhile the queen escapes the castle with baby Gybrush and brings him into the forest. Jack and his rooster Hahn Solo (“Hahn” [Han] is the German word for rooster) find the baby and take him in. BACK TO PRESENT TIME: Gybrush is not ready to believe that he is the true heir to the throne.
7:32 Scene 4: The 2nd finished scene besides the beer song: Gybrush is back at home dreaming about what the old man told him.
Voice: “Gybrush, you have to face your destiniy!”
Gybrush waking up: “What, IF he is right! I need some fresh air. OVER THERE! Black riders!”
Gybrush: “Dad, Han Solo! Get up! Hurry! We need to get out of here!”
Jack: “By the holy codfish! What’s going on!”
Gybrush: “There is no time, just run!”
Gybrush: “Go, get the cart, I will stall them!”
Now Gybrush and the black riders are fighting it out, him realizing that he is ready to face his enemies.
Gybrush: “Solo, run!”
Han Solo: “I am flying! I am flying!”
Jack: “Any sea cucumber would run faster!”
Gybrush and a black knight fighting:
Black knight: “You are not even half of the opponent your father was!”
Gybrush: “Lord Georg will hear from me soon enough!”
Jack and Solo while rescuing Gybrush: “Aye, landlubbers, set sails, we enter the sea!” (Obviously Jack used to be a pirate or something.)
12:05 Scene 5: Gybrush, Solo and Jack, totally exhausted, wake up in the forest, where they get captured by some sort of rebel group. The fighters are portrayed as fun-loving, clumsy but good-hearted people who are ready to defend their rights against the evil autocrat George. The old man from earlier happens to be their leader and welcomes our three heros by throwing a party. The lego beer fest is happening! Later the old man introduces Gybrush to his daughter and another companion and sends them onto a secret mission which has never been specified back at the time. We remember that there was a dragon involved but that’s about it. 😅
17:58 The last scene shows George playing real-life-chess with his first commander and receiving the message that Gybrush had escaped his assassination.

I was standing here in the kitchen at 12:21am on Monday, December 20th, and felt a memory rising to the surface of my mind like a cork held under the sea. I noticed I was singing a song to myself while I listened to the dish washer running. I don't know where the lyrics are stored in my mind, or why I remember them perfectly after 15 years of never hearing them... but there they were. Makes me think I'm a man.
