The problem with these maps, is that if all players aren't equal in map knowledge and skill, one player usually snowballs super hard and it becomes un-fun for the other team.
I really liked this map growing up. Unfortunately, since you get all the gold from empire kills split among the team, the only real point to playing is to focus exclusively on killing other players or trading. Getting an early hull to absorb targeted abilities and going for high-DPS or bursty weapons to try to snipe down other players is the meta. Seems you picked up on this pretty quickly. Edit: also going for the relatively-cheap suicide ship and just ramming yourself into enemies over and over with a goblin sail and a net (disables movement) is probably the most efficient early-game setup, then quickly teching into an end-game ship. I just remembered that's how I used to play this one.
There are other good ways to start the game too. Rushing the dominator ship and getting free kills with thunder clap, boarder ship for free kills and so on. It's just this map becomes pretty dull in late game as there are some VERY BUSTED endgame ships that everyone used to buy while medium ranged weapons were always the best ones to use, so you saw very little variety. I used to run OC ships with a very good off-meta build but I stopped playing the map once newer versions nerfed OC ships. I agree with you though, one weak link in your team and you basically lose instantly... which was the biggest issue of this map along with bad balance.
You just gor caught up in your greed (again x99) and refused to upgrade your equipment, a staple of all Battleship and Battletanks games. It's like not creeping in melee.
Gg wp for Legolas' team! I love it that WTii thinks his ship was overpowered and unstoppable at the start only for him to gradually devoled into one of the weakest sailor as the game progresses. His gold saving strategy was ultimately crushed and his saltiness further salted the salty atmosphere of the map's naval terrain. The issue is the fact that this map's balancing is very bad. Even in this video I see people use the ships that always were meta back in the day with the same dull medium ranged weapon choices. I used to play this map using OC ships with a very good off-meta build that would destroy most people (especially in 1v1), but once the newer versions of this map nerfed OC ships I quit it. Late game meta of this map is very dull with only very little variety, along with the fact that this map suffers under the issue where one weak link in the team loses you the game instantly. I don't blame WTII for not knowing which ships and weapons are busted, as there are a million options when most of them are terrible. But looking at your pathetic comment you seem like you have some mental issues so whatever :D

His careful tactics proved to be too slow that he doomed himself and his teammates into the grasp of defeat, not to mention his habit to not read everything throughly. We work very hard on making sure the map is balanced, yes some strats shines cause they are prefered but as of now, its balanced. As long as people have enough map knowledge. It can be little variety as you say tho as there is only 11 ships on each tier. And just like most mobas the weak link problem is still true.

Campaign Files .w3n go to your Campaigns folder. Mine is: C:\Users\da_ma\Documents\Warcraft III\Campaigns Custom Maps .w3x (TFT) or .w3m (ROC) go to your download folder. Mine is : C:\Users\Documents\Warcraft III\Maps\Download
Get a cheaper weapon to farm . Buy a ship for 5-10k . You can kill others with ship skill . Then go f9r the 17k ships then weapon then the most expensive ship.

It's more game knowledge than skill.
