I don't think I'll ever get over Spanish style homes, I'd love to live within one. I love the courtyard concepts, the stylish architecture, and the reddish roof.
Had a beautiful Spanish style house in Altadena built in 1926. When I sold it in 1994, the buyers' inspector said that it was in extraordinary condition - better than many of the brand new houses he inspected! In the 1920's and 30's they built homes to LAST!
This makes me happy. So many Spanish style homes here in Southern California have been stripped of character and made bland. I cringe to see cheap white vinyl windows and grey or black and white color schemes. I love all of the beautiful homes you featured. My grandparents had a 1925 Spanish home in Huntington Park, CA. As a child I vowed I would have one, glass doorknobs and all. :)
I fell in love with this house style in the movie LA Confidential when Russell Crowe visited Kim Basinger's character and her house was just Spanish Colonial Style.
Having “unique” or not the cookie cutter style homes in America is amazing. But when everyone has the same thing it’s not as special. I’m traveling here in Spain now doing some research to bring back.
I’m trying to find extremely old tile and do it with no electricity in the beginning like you would before we had cars it built then with the electricity in there the one thing gross but any house don’t care if you’re poor or rich a TV playing his day that is so gross and upsets meevery house has gotta have a fireplace. The courtyard has to have a fountain. I’ve been working different models and stuff but old extremely old. Have a good day.
I am looking to repaint my house in a Spanish Revival Style and am having a difficult time choosing a white paint. There are so many hues and tones. Can you recommend one that is often used in this style?
Mediterranean is what you call architecture that combines Italian, French or Spanish architecture in the form of a tract home or McMansion that is disconnected from any actual, recognizable traditional style.
Spanish colonialism inherently implies a modification of Mediterranean style, in that the Spanish mainland style was brought to the Americas by the Spanish (Mediterraneans) but then encountered alterations over the decades and centuries.

This style is dying out because its horrible tbh at least here to matain its not important to revive or keep because its not effective anymoee in modern times like many things die out we used to have a lot here but nowdays i havent seen any structures like this anymore but used to be common in the 1950s
My home is exactly this style. 100yrs old and well maintained!
Will be selling it next year to move to retire though…,
This is my favorite style home.

Amen to that :)
So true about destroying the character in these old homes - it is architectural murder! Or as This Old House calls it, "remuddling."

Love this!
Beautiful design. Working on our home in that fashion. Nice channel.
There are many different types of Spanish architecture - my favorite is herrerian
Wonderful. Much appreciated.
Could someone apprise me of the green window trim color? Thank you so much.

Off-white having yellow undertone .....no peach, grey, green undertones!!!!
Hope I'm not too late here. Our Spanish revival home is white and we used Columbia Paint CW-066W. Note this was twenty years ago.
@@mikegeorge4538 thank you for the recommendation.
I need white with NO yellow! It's so difficult!
@@ruralangwin Here's what we did--again, this was twenty years ago. Columbia Paint CW-066W. Not too white, but certainly no yellow tones.
All of this now utterly gone in this ongoing inferno.
I think it’s called Mediterranean architecture.
It’s called Spanish mission. It copies and imitates the architecture from the old missions that the Spanish used to build around their empire.

What an idiotic comment. You must be without any taste.
