He should've, but his finisher; The Perfect Plex put a strain on his back and knees and spine overall sadly. I wish he adopted a different finisher so his wrestling career would've been far longer reached!
He didn't draw money. He's the worst Hogan opponent draw from 1984-92. Hennig bumped too much to be champion. He also was not healthy, which is a liability..
@Dante Carroll you're just uninformed. It's a fact that he drew the least amount of money against Hogan. It's also a fact that the company chose Bret Hart over him because the latter, though not a special draw in the US (and Hennig was not either), could at least sell out Europe. Generally, you never want to put the title on a liability. Hennig got away with a lot because he at least tried not to show up to tapings intoxicated, though he was visibly drunk at WCW tapings, regurgitating and crapping under the ring. He ate poorly, was an alcoholic, did cocaine regularly for years. That's why he died so young. What's idiotic is the number of people who enabled that because they thought he was cool for doing so. He's a good example to others to stay away from drugs, because no matter how athletic you are, it will catch up to you.
I remember being a kid and seeing his promo videos being perfect in bowling, football, etc on Saturday mornings for weeks before he finally appeared in the ring. Then I started slapping my gum every time I spit it out. Mr Perfect was my favorite bad guy.

It was truly an eye opening experience and out of the 400 or so shows I did that one sticks in my mind the most. Great vid. Rip curt. Thanks for saving the day.
I remember during a promo/interview, Curt was suddenly asked about Rick Rude's death that happened a week before. He was obviously upset and mentioned that he lost his best friend. More obviously, he wasn't prepared for this question and ended the interview by saying, "Next time you want to do an interview, you come and ask me first" and hit the interviewer with what looked like a rolled up book. I couldn't blame him. I think that shows what a heart Curt had as his peers spoke of in this video. Rest in peace, Curt Hennig.
Curt Henning is one of the most underrated wrestlers IMO, especially when it comes to the more mainstream fans that don't have a clue of what they're watching. He had it all amazing in-ring skills, perfect promos, great build, and as mentioned he wasn't greedy when it came to schooling the rookies. The icing on the cake being he was one of the best at locker room/hotel ribs. I believe if Vince wasn't so obsessed with huge guys that Curt would have had a Championship run, he deserved it, and it could have been a long long run taking challenges from Bret, Shawn, Randy, and maybe even Scott Hall (as Razor). Even as a dumb kid I always found the technically proficient matches much more entertaining than say Hulk and (insert huge guy here) pounding on each other for 30 min. RIP Curt Henning
Watching wrestling in the late 80s, early 90s was fantastic. I appreciate videos like this. Knowing the person behind the scenes keeps them alive in our memories.
Every time, as a kid, I saw Curt step into the ring, I knew it would be an awesome match. He was simply put, one of the all time greatest. He was Perfect. Mr. Perfect.

The gimmick fit him perfectly because he could do everything at an extremely high level and it looked natural. He could high fly, technical wrestler, grapple, brawl, talk, use ring psychology. He was one of the few who could get along with everyone. Dude was simply driven and that's a lesson for everyone but perhaps his drive did take him too far, well beyond his abilities as an older wrestler. Given his personality I doubt that he would have started slacking like Flair, Sting, Hogan, and other older wrestlers did when they stopped taking bumps and moved around the ring like snails. I doubt Hennig would have accepted that.
Mr. Perfect was one of the all-time great characters (great theme music too) and Curt literally played him to perfection, like he was born for the role. I also remember hating him as a kid then realizing as I got older just how great he was as a performer. RIP Curt and thanks for being absolutely.... 🍬👋perfect.
That time period in the WWF had some GREAT heels. Henning, Savage, Rick Rude, and Sid played the heel role as well as anyone could. A little earlier on Piper was pretty entertaining as well.

As a kid, I was a big Mr. Perfect fan. Even when he was a heel. I was thrilled, when he became a face. Looking back though, it's not surprising that it didn't last long. He really was a perfect heel. I'm surprised to learn he didn't even like the Mr. Perfect gimmick. I was extremely disappointed to learn of his passing. Especially, when I learned he had messed with cocaine. I guess that was his biggest imperfection. As we all know, nobody is literally perfect. In any event though, he was truly one of the best ever. As close to perfect as you could get, in a number of ways.
I grew up watching the AWA,....Larry the Axe and his up and coming son,....paid his dues,......glad he made the leap to WWF(Sorry Vern). Given his personality I doubt that he would have started slacking like Flair, Sting, Hogan, and other older wrestlers did when they stopped taking bumps and moved around the ring like snails. I doubt Hennig would have accepted that.
Just wanted to leave a comment, I absolutely ❤ 'The Final Days' series. Thanks for making so many great videos!
Mr. Perfect was one of the all-time great characters (great theme music too) and Curt literally played him to perfection, like he was born for the role. I also remember hating him as a kid then realizing as I got older just how great he was as a performer. RIP Curt and thanks for being absolutely.... 🍬👋perfect.
I could honestly say he is probably the best combination of wrestling talent and charisma to ever..
Episode 48.....wow!! Time sure flies when you follow quality material!! Thanks for the top notch entertainment!!!
That time period in the WWF had some GREAT heels. Henning, Savage, Rick Rude, and Sid played the heel role as well as anyone could. A little earlier on Piper was pretty entertaining as well.
don't forget Ted dibiase
@@melekelewis2945 The State of Mississippi surely won't!
One of the greatest ever. One of my all time favorites.
Coke and roids lethal cocktail for a persons heart
Absolutely.... I was always told do one or the other if you want to... But don't do both at the same time!!
Unfortunately wrestling was full of both.
@@PhillyBagel no argument there
@@delanodegenie6970 Did anyone ever tell you not to do either ??
@@dhart8451 Nobody needs to tell me not to do either.. I'm smart enough to know not to do either!!
When you said Rest In Peace To one of the greats, I started crying.
There's no crying in wrestling RF!
Adrian Adonis should be next to do a story on
My dad and I would watch Hennig and Rude come out and we knew we were in for some good matches.
Lol, I still spit my gum and swat it away like curt did. Awesome person and may he R.I.P.
RIP for rude. Glad we were able to see them wrestle on the tube.
I do the gum thing still to this day too, lol.
Imagine if Curt Hennig was still alive then him vs Brock would've been great dream match
Yeah on the dreaded"Plane ride from hell" European tour flight 😂😂
@@Charlx6 *No actually in a dark match.*
@Mugwort *Yup*
This happend in a dark match.
And that match on the plane ride from hell :)
What a perfect human looks like. My hero and life coach on my way to perfection.
Love these docuseries! Everything is nicely created.
Very well done...Curt was one of the finest wrestlers I have ever seen...he is truly missed!
You should do one on the final days of Sean O Haire
I agree. That guy had so much potential.
@@Nepthu the guy had the body frame of a heavyweight but could do flips and Swanton bombs
The wait was worth it great episode RIP Curt Hennig and Rick Rude both were my all time favorites
He's another one of the best wrestlers of his era who lost his life from addiction, it's so sad😧🙏 RIP Me. Perfect 😧🙏
The Mr. Perfect character was one of my favorites, getting a strike every time he bowled was hilarious.
Curt Hennig should had been The "Perfect World Champion" with WWE while in his prime. He was that PERFECT!😆😆
Now this was a PERFECT DOCUMENTARY
R.i.p great curt hennig!
Im sure ur mr. Perfect in heaven..💞💞🙇♀️🙇♀️

I miss Kurt and Larry Hennig
*Curt
Been waiting all day for this bad boy!
I couldn’t remember mr perfects name one day when i was in the 8th grade (before internet was popular) I called a million ppl just to talk about wwf and to see if they remembered...
No one did, maybe I didn’t describe it well.
The next day I saw his name
He was dead
I’ll never forget you again mr perfect
RIP CURT HENNING
Hennig.
If youve ever played baseball, golf, football, whatever it may be...you KNOWWWW youve been chewing gum & whether you like to admit it or not, you spit it out & slapped it with your hand...thanks Curt, forever having an impact on our lives.
Gotta be sooooo careful with drugs, painkillers, etc. RIP to Rude and Hennig. Miss them both very much still.
These poor guys put their bodies through so much and A Lot of them are so lonely being on the road. It's sad that they turn to drugs for comfort. Curt was my absolute favorite!!
I miss the old Behind The Titantron intro
Tamzid Mohsin Khan me 2
The old opening was perfect.
Yeah me too.
Me too!
Yeah but this one is great too. With this new intro , this series can easily go to netflix or the tV.
I had alot of time for this guy. The perfect suplex. Perfect.
We all miss you Curt 16 years of your gone, but will never forgotten.

Wrestlelamia never ceases to amaze me with the Behind the Titantron episodes. I would have liked to see Curt Henning win the WWF Championship. Great video keep it up.
I remember when Mr perfect would throw Bulls eyes with darts live on Raw!

I always loved it when perfect would say hulk hogan cant do that.

Curt is among the few greatest in-ring talents there’s ever been. Very original & innovative.
Hope WWE should make Curtis Axel a single wrestler again and give him major push very soon
And Bo Dallas
Axel is 39
I genuinely feel he doesnt get a push because the look isnt there. I understand why wrestlers nowadays dont look as "big" as they once did. Steroids weren't even frowned upon at a certain point in time. But its unfortunately a business where looks matter.
Tamzid Mohsin Khan keep hoping broski wwe wouldn’t know what to do with the next #stonecold if he landed right on their lap idk y they bury the kids of hall of famers
Scott Steiner really holy shit
I saw Hennig wrestle 3 weeks before he died. He was just like his name said "Perfect"... I could feel the intesity and love for wrestleing. I was so sad when I heard he passed. He is what the business is all about.
Curt Hennig would've been one time WWF Champion
Until he got hurt then they dropped it
@@davidbennett4946 he should have been champion in 93,94,95
@@superlex611 Vince got way too hung up on pushing oversized wrestlers with limited abilities like Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior. Wrestlers like Mr Perfect and Rick Rude who had brilliant gimmicks, work rate and had paid their dues got overlooked for the Heavyweight title.

@@MrSuicidal69 Wrestling.is.not.all about ring work.chrisma.play.a.part.too.Without Hogan wrestling.would.have not been as big.Hogan is a better worker than warrior as Hogan lead that match
Thank you thank you thank you for this. I cannot explain to you how much I love this channel.
At a time when WWF badly needed technical wrestlers,....great moves,...great on the interview. If you wanted a match to go for an hour,..with great technical moves,....Curt was the Man! I’m sure he was an asset to all the wrestlers,..friendly fellow,..Minnesotan! Perfect combination of pure technical talent AND experience AND the power to drop kick your head off!!!!!
And still even today 30 nearly 40 years later his music theme is still... Perfect.
There is Nobody like him... His in-ring brilliance was second to NONE... An elite mat-specialist that had truly mastered his craft....
Rest in Peace Mr Perfect
I happened to be at a japanese restaurant in Scranton that Mr Hennig was at in the early 90s. He was near his peak with the WWE and in this town that was a very big deal as we all loved when the wrestlers came to town. Curt was the most humble and unassuming guy, despite his public persona. Very fond memory. Heenan and Hennig were magic together. I hope we get to see other such talented performers.
RIP Curt Henning
Hennig!
It's HENNIG NOT HENNING
