  • The first session of the 2024 Ohio State University Extension Beef Team’s Virtual Beef School was hosted via ZOOM on January 18th. This year’s four evening Beef School sessions took a deep dive into production practices and factors that impact quality and profitability when it comes to producing beef to be marketed directly to consumers. This first session was focused on Genetic Selection and Planned Calving to better meet the demands for locally grown and marketed beef. Featured speakers for the evening included Al Gahler, OSU Extension Educator in Sandusky County and Dean Kreager, OSU Extension Educator in Licking County.
Here, OSU Extension Beef Field Specialist Garth Ruff introduced the evening’s program and second speaker, Dean Kreager on Planned Calving to Meet Demand.
