When had processed his family situation with dad abandoning them, and mom dying of cancer during that time, he was wanting closure but she was long gone. He tried to make peace with dad but ended up bitter about that after his dad died as well. This metaphor was not about balance, but the inability to make peace now with his mom after his rebellion with her in his youth.

I feel this. I put my mom in a home 2 years ago but I had to move across country with my sister to survive. It hurts to leave her so far away but it’s a good home and she is safe. She still has her magnificent brother around so she is not alone.
