I replayed this game in 2023 for the first time since it came out. The first time I played it, I thought it was a good game, but a bad Nintendo game. Second time, I found it phenomenal. Everything that bothered me the first time, I didn’t even notice. And the whole “whiny Samus” thing…she actually acts exactly how a woman who went through what she did would act. I don’t think they need to remaster it, but they brought the Metroid style to third person 3d so wonderfully, that I want them to make a brand new game in this type of style.
Woah, you actually played it. Glad to hear your opinion on this game. I really enjoy the hard mode play through of this. If you dont think about the plot or try to play this like the prime games it has a lot of great moments.
I would agree with that, the story is kind of nonsensical but if you don't look too deeply at it its passable and there are a lot of fun moments - I'll have to try hard more.
I didn't see it mentioned but while aiming in 1st-person, the visor would light up green when samus is being attacked and you're supposed to shake the controller while aiming on the screen to dodge, the screen will adjust and face where the attack came from, and aim there.
I enjoy Other M despite all of its flaws. A lot can be fixed by changing certain parts of the story and changing the voice acting. For example: I understand the authorization of the items, Samus is putting herself into a military mission that has nothing to do with her. Adam could’ve had her removed and charged for obstruction or interfering with a military mission, however, he allows her to join the platoon and limits her power for gameplay and story reasons. But like you said, parts like the Sector 3 where he’s seemingly ignoring her slowly dying make no sense. It could be fixed with Adam attempting to reach her throughout this extreme heated area but the radio coming in distorted, keep the action at a 10 so it’s obvious Samus doesn’t have time to stop and enable it herself. When she reaches the top of the volcano (?) where in the original game, Adam tells her to enable it, it’s instead replaced with Adam finally coming through the distorted radio urging Samus to enable it and since Samus finally has a second to turn it on, she turns it on. That way, it’s obvious Samus didn’t have a moment to turn it on and Adam was trying to reach her from the beginning, eliminating the perspective that Adam simply didn’t give a shit she was slowly dying. Remove the entire scene of Adam shooting Samus altogether unless they plan on explaining somehow that Samus is maybe at a weaker state following her Super Metroid mission and thus doesn’t have great control over her suit, hardcore fans know her suit depends on her having intense focus on keeping it active, but other fans don’t know this. Explain it somehow without being obvious. But the scene is still unneeded. A lot around that scene can work, but remove her being shot. It’s redundant and isn’t becoming of either of their characters based on what we know of them two. It’s so left-field. If they change it so that first person can be used without trading out movement, I’d love to see more stuff be scannable. Not exactly like Prime, but maybe have a logbook on the pause screen to read about certain enemies so we know why they’re there or what exactly they are. Ridley being cloned was so obvious given how we see the stages of it, so Samus’ PTSD moment doesn’t make much sense. Perhaps have logbook entries of each evolutionary period of Ridley shrouded in confusion (unknown entity, possibly an experiment, etc.,) so the reveal of fully formed Ridley comes as more of a shock. A lot of things can be fixed to make Other M more enjoyable. The original story makes a lot more sense than when it was localized. I’d suggest trying to find a video where the original script is explained and compared to the localized one, I can’t remember who made it or where it is, but a lot of things make other m more enjoyable to understand.
The problem with the authorization thing was always that there are times where it makes no sense for something not to be already. The varia suit was always this issue of….not being an offensive capability and so Samus shouldn’t have had to cook herself because reasons. That entire part of the game alone would be improved by just activating it when it’s needed.
@@Fuk99999 just like in other Metroid titles, the buildup to the Varia suit is usually littered with superheated areas which results in getting the Varia suit. Should she have had it activated from the very beginning? Yes. But she didn’t, and therefore I propose keeping her constantly moving/being attacked during the entire beginning of Sector 3 so it shows the player she doesn’t have a moment to turn it on while also having the radio distorted from Adam so the player knows he’s trying to reach her to activate it, but the transmission isn’t going through. I already explained how the authorization system makes sense when looking at it from a military perspective. From a Metroid perspective, sure, why should Samus just take orders about what she can and can’t activate…? But critically thinking a little bit more about why she’s there in the first place answers that. She could be arrested and charged by the Galactic Federation for interference with a military mission. She has NO business being on the Bottle Ship, irregardless of her importance being there. If she wants to help the platoon, she’s going to assume a role UNDER Adam’s command and follow his orders. You don’t have to like it, but that’s exactly how it would work in a military setting.
@@kidkruschev Honestly the harmless parts such as the Varia suit should never have been turned off and the gravity suit could be explained like it gives off radiation or something to work. But the Varia suit is like a portable AC why would you not turn it on? Like Military officers also expect you to have some common sense to not turn off the harmless helpful bits. And even before when she sees the lava she could have just turned it on or even in that nav room, there were plenty of opportunities where she could have took a moment and turned it on and just like with the space jump she could have said "Any objections Adam?" to where Adam could reply "Samus, why did you turn that off in the first place?" in regards to the Varia suit Honestly the amount of glitches the suit has is amazing as it keeps depowering her a lot to the point you would think she would find some scientist Chozo and demand it be fixed or never even take off the suit in the first place in fear of it breaking as my god they gave her some buggy ass hand me down firmware
What it needs is a remake, written by competent writers and have a director that does NOT think that playing a 3D game with a gamepad is a good idea. Also a director that doesn't have direct control over the English cast because, my god, you don't know English, stop trying to direct an English VA.
The linearity is what bothered me the most, that in combination with the authorization, but I did enjoy the fights. I thought they were fun. And to Team Ninja's credit, Other M looks fantastic for a Wii game. For me it's like the Fusion of 3D games. The locked down areas and directions from Adam reminded me a lot of that one, which bothered me. But I do think the game can be a lot of fun at times, and dare I say challenging.
21:22 regarding that... You should see a video called something like the other m that never was, it's a translation analysis and on the original japanese is not that "she was authorized to use the varia suit" it's that she was willingly not using it just as a way to "show" how powerful and independent she was. Granted a tantrum is not better but it's more cohesive
Mark my words this gameplay style should be revisited- for an ACTUAL Metroid-vania. This story was trash but the combat and movement could be done so well on a real controller. It’d be like taking Metroid dread and adding the third axis (and making the combat actually fun. Yeah I said it)
Yeah. The Wii mote is the worst gaming controller out of any console released. This game would be so much better on an actual controller. Wasn't this game released for Xbox 360? I know it was made by team ninja.
@@dieterhorvat5176 I just remember I couldn't play it back in the day, I was thinking it was just Metroid in name but way different developer. They should at least have a Wii u updated vs
@@dieterhorvat5176 probably just looking at the graphics at the time, I told myself "no way this can play on a Wii" Metroid prime is the only series Nintendo still used a graphical competition. Wish they'd actually compete with a crazy powerful system. The graphics haven't improved since GameCube, not even on the switch. Switch just has better framerates
I agree the Wii has the worst controller of any semi-modern console, the motion controls just weren't interesting enough to offset all the other problems the hardware design introduced in my opinion.
I always thought the animation, especially combat animation was amazing. With no stupid remote controller mandate and better story (and maybe more combat focused gameplay, why not let Samus play like Ryu Hayabusa all the way sometimes), it could be really something special.
I started playing this game last year, using a standard gaming controller with missiles using buttons and it really makes the game much better by that alone. Would like a complete overhaul of this game: redone story, modern visuals, modern controls and quality of life features, with more exploration, etc. That or at least another shot at 3rd person Metroid. It definitely has a lot of potential.
I believe Other M, despite being one of the worst Metroid games ever, was ahead of its time with their CGIs. In the future, thanks to the Mario movie, is how Nintendo can make a Metroid movie with the right people to hire to make the story very interesting.
@LetsPlayNintendoITA Mate people don't consider that a Metroid game that's how worse it is to them as they do forget about Prime Hunters existing because Hello Carpal Tunnel Syndrome the controls in that game was worse than Federation force
I feel like Metroid other M was an experimental game that helped evolve the future games, specially on the game play style it bring fast phasing fights, moves and counterattacks, fast shooting, etc, yeah the story was weak and have no sense we are used to the "lone wolf" Samus, and I think they tried to humanize her and bring more emotional connection but they failed because the game was set near the end of the timeline instead of making the game set way before the first game, if they wanted to show Samus working as part of a team and under someone orders the story could had been like because of the "Failure" of this mission and realizing that the federation is full of corruption she decides to leave and be a lonely bounty hunter making it the beginning of her solo story. that would have more sense of why she is not allowed to use her powers and follow orders without questioning and why she freaked out from seeing Ridley for the first time after the trauma from loosing her parents.
I think remastering Metroid Prime for the Nintendo Switch was a big mistake because I've pretty much beaten that game like 30 times in the past, between age 16 and my mid 20s, and I pretty much got bored with the game back in 2019, when I was 27 years old. A remaster of Other M is a much better idea.
What we really need is a dread like revamp of samus returns… I think someone found the Samus returns gravity suit in the files of dread which shows that mercury steam has the upped versions of those models so I say go for it
No it doesn't, its just fine way it is. The ONLY thing they have to do is put it in HD and add traditional controls to the pro controller as an option and its golden.
@@ElvenRaptor Not really. The Metroid series has had numerous hiatuses before. Ever notice that there was no Metroid title on the N64? The longest Metroid hiatus was after Super Metroid's release, a hiatus that lasted at least 8 years, which ended with the release of both _Metroid Fusion_ and _Metroid Prime._ There was also a hiatus between _Metroid_ (NES) and _Metroid II: Return of Samus,_ which had a similar hiatus length with _Metroid: Other M_ and _Metroid Prime: Federation Force._ So are you arguing that Super Metroid was such a bad game that it put the Metroid series into the worst hiatus the Metroid series has ever seen? No, that would be utter blasphemy. Nintendo simply doesn't do a lot with the Metroid franchise because it's actually not that popular in Japan (though Japan somehow gets more Metroid media than the west.)
@@enforcerridley158 Different circumstances, but I don't expect "Other M" apologists to recognize that. They did try to make more Metroid games between "Superman Metroid" and "Metroid Prime", but they just didn't pan out. No, the series was just dead between "Other M" and that insulting "Federation Force". It was just dead.
There's no saving the story of Other M, but a remake/remaster could fix the clunky awkward controls. I'd probably give it another chance if it did get a remake, but I doubt its going to get one.
The game looks amazing in HD with Dolphin Emulator, and using a projector. The wide field of view reminds me of Bayonetta. It also plays great on Steam Deck with Emu Deck. The story might be weak but the graphics, audio and gameplay are superb.
I appreciate your in-depth and honest appraisal. I only played Other M for the first time about 2 years ago, and your review resonates a lot with my experiences. It’s not a terrible game, and even though the story and dialog were questionable (at best), I do think there are gameplay ideas in Other M that should be revisited (imo in a Returnal-style 3rd person Metroid game, like you suggested). It also inspired a lot of ideas we see in Samus Returns and Dread. I’m glad to see more discussion about Other M like this.
The game overall is mediocre. I believe it was Sakamoto's idea to limit Team Ninja to just the remote. Playing a 3D game with a d-pad was not well thought out. If Sakamoto wanted an action game, having more buttons could have led to better gameplay mechanics. The dodge move is too generous and has lots of invincibility frames. You can dodge in any direction, even towards an enemy, and still come out unscathed if you spam the sense move. Having the beams stack was a poor decision. If they had access to more buttons on a controller, Team Ninja could have used different beams as stances for Samus like how stances are used in other action games. Super Metroid had hidden beam combos, so it's really disappointing that Team Ninja couldn't add on to that concept. Imagine Samus switching on the fly between ice and plasma beams, with each having different effects on enemies. If there was a lock-on system, the player could have had the freedom to target different body parts of an enemy for certain effects. Precise targeting was used in prior games but Other M had to automate that because of its limited controls. The environments in this game are a step down from the Prime trilogy. Even Fusion had more sectors to explore than the Bottle Ship in Other M. Other M's three main sectors are generic plant, ice and lava areas with very little to make them unique. The story in the game is a mess. It has been torn apart for years online, and rightfully so. It borrows heavily from Fusion and lessens the impact of the revelations of that game. If Samus had just exposed a Metroid breeding project on the Bottle Ship, why is she surprised when she sees it again in Fusion right after? Her reaction to Ridley was silly and the game doesn't explain that she has PTSD, or anything of the sort. Some have read that into the Ridley scene to make sense of it, but the game never explains Samus' relationship with Ridley beyond her saying that he was her archenemy. She never says anything about him killing her parents, so if a player hasn't read the manga (which the game isn't entirely faithful to) then the scene is quite random. It would have been better to place the game at the beginning of the timeline instead of near the end. Then we could see the relationship between Samus and Adam instead of having her tell us what happened in the past. If it was a prequel to the entire series, Samus' self-doubt might have made more sense narratively. Samus doesn't accomplish much in this game. She doesn't kill Ridley because the Queen Metroid gets to him first. She isn't the one to deal with Sector 0 since Adam goes in there to sacrifice himself. She never solves the Deleter subplot since Melissa kills him first. Anthony is the one who stopped the ship's course and called the Federation who lands the killing blow on MB, not Samus. The game had some potential to flesh out the universe but it didn't hit any of the marks.
The controls need to be revamped for modern controllers and a skip cutscene feature would make other m incredibly repayable plus if they added a practice horde mode of some type where you can fight the enemies aswell I love other M for his gameplay and mechanics it deserves to come back properly with everything else metroid related like hunters
Yes it needs a remaster because its a damn great game. Its by far one of the most underrated video games of all time and to me one of the best Metroid games ever made. I'm playing it right now as well. Imagine this game in HD...if it comes to the switch I'm buying two copies to keep one sealed for the the 500 dollars itll be worth 20 years from now.
I never understood the hate of Other M. I think it just came out the wrong time. If it came out before the Prime games (maybe right after Super Metroid like the story implys) I think it would of got more love. The Wii Remotes were never Perfect at motion controls on any game IMO but Other M made it worse than most. I did hate like you said flipping sides and morph ball screwing me. But if you think back to the Primes, how many times did you try to scan something and keep hitting the same object when the next scannable was right next to same object? Or even worse trying to scan an enemy moving while keeping line of sight and more enemies killing you. The worst was shooting a door and it staying closed, that you would have to backup and shot again
Glad you enjoyed it and gave it a fair shake man a lot of UA-cam personalities tend to just bash it for everything the crowd didn’t like about it and almost never try to just look at the game for what it is. I personally love everything about this game from gameplay to storytelling/Lore. I thought it portrayed Samus in a good light showing off how brutal yet tranquil she can be and her monotone voice made more sense for a lone Bounty Hunter with tons of baggage. She stuttered like she did when faced with the “Ridley” creature because she was suffering PTSD which we know she has because Ridley killed her parents.
Thanks for the feedback, I can see that angle. Thoughtless bashing isn't good content - I try hard in any analysis to see all the different angles, and this game is certainly not "all bad". To some extent should be viewed as its own thing like you said and in some ways it delivers. I love how unique and different it is, even if I don't think it succeeds at everything it tries to do.
I never really cared for the game, primarily because of the controls. I absolutely hated having to rotate the controller to use missiles. I don’t think I finished the game because of that. Final boss overwhelmed be because I was too slow in swapping modes with how finicky my Wii sensor was
As far as I'm concerned buying/liking Metroid: Other M (and games like Metroid Prime: Federation Force as well) only encourage developers to make more of this rubbish and ignore proper Metroid Prime games like Metroid Prime 4 .... it's now been nearly 16 years since we've had a proper Metroid prime game, all because people bought those pieces of throwaway garbage
This game simply need hd textures and from beginning skippable cutscene. Joystick movement and to get first person view simply press bottom to get to the view. Honestly the remaster should only cost 10 or 20 dollars.
It's a cycle we need to stop. No, things that sucked 10-20s years ago still suck. The only difference is that apparently the current generations have lower standards.
Idk why people shit on other M. I really enjoyed it, loved the cinematics and that they gave Samus a voice. The gameplay is also good. I think the new metroid prime might have a combination of gameplay styles.
I remember playing Other M the first time. I was in middle school, and thought it was the best game ever. The next day I started another playthrough and got the same feeling you get when you watch a janky movie you liked as a kid again as an adult. I dont think i ever finished that second playthrough.
Yes it needs a remaster mostly to the controls People really wanted to use a controller not a psudo mix between wii mote and nes controller, however if it was just one or the other it would have been fine. The story? there were things that was actually lost in translation granted it would not have made much of a difference but it still would have been great to have. Personally i like more story driven games as in not scan and search for story bits that you could find out of order so i actually do not like the Prime games except for Prime 3 just for the fact that the controls were way fucking better than a GameCube controller that they don't use the C-stick to move the camera around or a DS that gives you carpal tunnel (Prime Hunters) like Wii Mote and nunchaku was the best format for it aside from actually being able to use the C-stick to look around like in most FPS on consoles. And no i don't have nearly $350 USD to shill for the Trilogy on the Wii which is the superior version Granted I have not played Prime 2 but i honestly don't give a fuck about it as a shit ton of money to even buy for the GameCube just to try as the trilogy is out of the question, and yes i played every other Prime game including the Spin-off Pinball minus the remaster for Prime 1 on the switch which i am sure it has better controls than the GameCube but i just do not like the Prime Games. Probably because i do not like FPS games in general with some exceptions like the doom series but i don't see the hype of why people like the Prime Series. Honestly there is nothing wrong with Other M and if it is not a good Metroid game then neither is Fusion as a lot of people praise that as a better game which i disagree, but i will say i wish you did not have to beat the game once to skip cutscenes in Other M sure it is fine but a lot of people want to just get back to the game play and not really care about stories as Team Ninja really makes addicting gameplay even if they did not have much say in terms of the controls However the boss fights and brutal enemy executions were really the best parts about this game which they took and implemented in future games such as Samus Returns and Metroid Dread and those are both great games with really great fluid controls
Maybe not a remaster but I would like to see another 3d Metroid game because I actually liked the gameplay it was the story and narrative that was balls! 😂
They should just take the gameplay and use it for a proper 3D Metroid-vania adventure (like Metroid Dread 2 or something)-- but Other M should just be left behind (I didn't mind the game at the time but the story is unsalvageable)
The cutscenes are skippable after you finish it the first time. I enjoyed the game much more after I could skip them. My biggest gripe are the parts when they lock you to the slow moving, over the sholders camera. It is not immersive, it is just boring. Particularly the tower section. That said I aways had a lot of fun with the gameplay of the game.
I remember playing this game as a kid, the gameplay was so freaking good, the whole gameplay style was such a great idea, they just failed with the way they handled the story (specifically Samus' personality). If they could remake the game and retcon that portion, it would be one of the best metroid games in my opinion
I also don't think it will get another release, the reputation is just too bad for Nintendo to consider that unfortunately. I always thought the game is by far "over-hated"...I don't get that anger and frustration some have with that game, especially after so many years still lol. Just ignore it and move on, we're back in good times for Metroid and a Metroid on Wii U wouldn't have been successful anyways. Other M definitely has its issues and most if not all of them could be fixed/improved in a proper remaster/remake, but despite its flaws it's still a lot of Metroid fun to me. Definitely prefer playing it to Prime Hunters, Pinball or the first two original Metroid games. (those have great remakes anyways) I wouldn't mind them doing a brand new game with a similar 3rd person style...obviously better controls, more open worlds to explore and way less story, but I think the basic idea of Other M is quite interesting and good. Also, to me the biggest flaw of Other M is one that for some reason noone ever mentions - it has basically NO soundtrack! Metroid is known for its awesome soundtracks in most games that add to the great atmosphere...here it's mostly some boring ambient sounds that make the game just feel boring. A good soundtrack is important to EVERY game and Other M really lacks that unfortunately. Even with Dread being an amazing game, the "just okay" soundtrack for the most part there was the only issue I had with it.
Think for a second what Samus Aran represents within the gaming community. If you have any functioning braincells you'll figure out pretty quick she's one of gaming's most prominent female badasses, and Other M did her dirty at every turn.
I don't think there's much that can be done with this game. Gameplay wise, it's mid at best. Story is trash. It might be salvageable with severe rewrites but you might as well just write an entirely new one to replace it. If we ever get Wii NSO in the far future, then it should be added same as anything, but otherwise it's best left forgotten.
I'm a metroid superfan ever since NES Metroid came out when I was in High School. Other M BROKE ME. I was so hyped for it leading up to launch. I was having dreams about it. I would watch the trailer over and over. Then when it finally came, I played through it on the first day. I was feeling numb, confused. I played through it again, this time discovering phantoon and getting 100%. I was still confused. It was actually denial. The game sucked, and I couldn't accept it. I played through it one more time to be sure - and yes, it was shit. To this day I get anxious at the idea of being hyped for a game, am super pessimistic. Other M was not just the biggest gaming disappointment for me, it was traumatic. Yes I played through it a couple more times over the years just out of boredom, and to confirm my dislike for it. Today I just try to pretend it didn't happen, don't even see it as canon.
Personally, I believe a remaster would not suit this game. Other M needs a remake. I actually like this game, but I think there are some things that need to be fixed, like the story as an example. If they remade it and polished it up, I'd happily get it.
@@ElvenRaptor Fair enough. I just meant if Nintendo was going to do a remaster or remake, but yeah, probably would be better to leave Other M in the past.
I think I phrased that a bit confusingly, I didn't mean to say Metroid Fusion was a spin off - I meant to say I had played every metroid game except fusion and other M - including spin offs like Pinball.
i haven't watched much of the video yet, but you just called Metroid Fusion a spinoff? it's literally the 4th major installment for the story. the spin-off titles are shit like the Prime games

Therefore, in a contest between what is shown in the other games vs. Other M, the rest of the series wins easily.

And even before when she sees the lava she could have just turned it on or even in that nav room, there were plenty of opportunities where she could have took a moment and turned it on and just like with the space jump she could have said "Any objections Adam?" to where Adam could reply "Samus, why did you turn that off in the first place?" in regards to the Varia suit
Honestly the amount of glitches the suit has is amazing as it keeps depowering her a lot to the point you would think she would find some scientist Chozo and demand it be fixed or never even take off the suit in the first place in fear of it breaking as my god they gave her some buggy ass hand me down firmware
It does not need a remaster that game is what killed off the Metroid franchise
"other m needs a remaster"
said nobody, ever
21:22 regarding that... You should see a video called something like the other m that never was, it's a translation analysis and on the original japanese is not that "she was authorized to use the varia suit" it's that she was willingly not using it just as a way to "show" how powerful and independent she was. Granted a tantrum is not better but it's more cohesive
Lmao, that sounds extremely childish and makes it even worse
@@IAmNotASandwich453 watch the video before you dismiss it.
@@entertainmentgaming8738 if it wasn't a Nintendo first-party franchise they probably would've-- but it's stuck (probably to stay) on the Wii.
The better question is, does the Metroid series need another 6 year long coma? I say, no.
The reception the Prime remake has gotten says otherwise.
What Metroid Other M needs is to be forgotten.
What we really need is a dread like revamp of samus returns… I think someone found the Samus returns gravity suit in the files of dread which shows that mercury steam has the upped versions of those models so I say go for it
I prefer a new game, Samus return is already a good game.
@@wekufeh good but it being not sold anymore and only playable on the 3Ds makes it not so good
It doesn't need a remaster, it needs a retcon, a WHOLE game retcon
So your saying it needs a remake.
No it doesn't, its just fine way it is. The ONLY thing they have to do is put it in HD and add traditional controls to the pro controller as an option and its golden.
@@mr_m4613 You do realize this is the game that sent the whole Metroid series into a hiatus, right?
@@ElvenRaptor Not really.
The Metroid series has had numerous hiatuses before. Ever notice that there was no Metroid title on the N64?
The longest Metroid hiatus was after Super Metroid's release, a hiatus that lasted at least 8 years, which ended with the release of both _Metroid Fusion_ and _Metroid Prime._ There was also a hiatus between _Metroid_ (NES) and _Metroid II: Return of Samus,_ which had a similar hiatus length with _Metroid: Other M_ and _Metroid Prime: Federation Force._
So are you arguing that Super Metroid was such a bad game that it put the Metroid series into the worst hiatus the Metroid series has ever seen?
Other M’s story needs a remaster
it doesn't need a remaster, it needs a goddamn retcon
Thanks for the feedback, I agree with your comments as well :)
It needs to be totally retconned and replaced by another game in it's place.
What? Other who? Not sure what game you’re talking about. Anyway next video nothing to see here folks
You are no true Metroid fan.
Yes it needs a remaster. It was a cross of prime and 2D Metroid . The wiimote rocket aiming was interesting.
4:26 Dramatic moments like Samus walking into a bathroom.
One of the worst, if not the worst, video game I have ever played. Just remake Fusion.
What about Federation Force?
Nobody is asking for this, stop lying. Liked and subscribed for talking about metroid.
Because it infantilizes and damselizes one of the gaming's most prominent female badasses. That's why its hated.
I agree 100 % with everything said in this video.
If theres 1 thing that other m perfectly captures, its the bosses
The worst part about this control scheme is:
Every problem could have been mitigated with the nunchuck!
@@crywolfplays The bashing Other M gets isn't thoughtless. People who hate this game have legitimate reason to hate it.
Other M does not need a remaster it would need a full on from the ground up remake to fix its gameplay and story problems.
It would be interesting to see if federation force deserves a remaster (it absolutely does)
Other M should get a remaster just so everyone gets mad.
And flops again and Nintendo loses money on it again.
With special Federation Force bonus content!
This video is the highest form of art.
P R O M O S M 😞
The arcade feel of this game was one of the things I most enjoyed about it.
12:35 ...Or you could just have enemies drop items when defeated, like always.
This game would need a total overhaul to be accepted by fans today. MercurySteam doing a full remake would be interesting to see.
Been seeing a lot of positive other M videos recently. I guess we've reached that point of the cycle. The star wars prequel effect
It's a cycle we need to stop. No, things that sucked 10-20s years ago still suck. The only difference is that apparently the current generations have lower standards.
Before watching: remaster? It needs a re-write, if not a re-imagining!
Idk why people shit on other M. I really enjoyed it, loved the cinematics and that they gave Samus a voice. The gameplay is also good.
I think the new metroid prime might have a combination of gameplay styles.

Way too few level-headed takes of this game out there, thank you for this.
Thanks for the feedback, I try to visit topics from every angle
It doens't need remaster it needs complete remake to fix host of problems, namely the way samus is potrayed in it, and some the controls.
And no i don't have nearly $350 USD to shill for the Trilogy on the Wii which is the superior version
Granted I have not played Prime 2 but i honestly don't give a fuck about it as a shit ton of money to even buy for the GameCube just to try as the trilogy is out of the question, and yes i played every other Prime game including the Spin-off Pinball minus the remaster for Prime 1 on the switch which i am sure it has better controls than the GameCube but i just do not like the Prime Games. Probably because i do not like FPS games in general with some exceptions like the doom series but i don't see the hype of why people like the Prime Series. Honestly there is nothing wrong with Other M and if it is not a good Metroid game then neither is Fusion as a lot of people praise that as a better game which i disagree, but i will say i wish you did not have to beat the game once to skip cutscenes in Other M sure it is fine but a lot of people want to just get back to the game play and not really care about stories as Team Ninja really makes addicting gameplay even if they did not have much say in terms of the controls
However the boss fights and brutal enemy executions were really the best parts about this game which they took and implemented in future games such as Samus Returns and Metroid Dread and those are both great games with really great fluid controls
This game needs to be forgotten. It is also a bad rehash of Metroid Fusion so nothing to be lost here.
So what you're saying it needs to permantly stay in the canon without ever being fixed? No thanks.
Nintendo wants us to forget about it
Maybe not a remaster but I would like to see another 3d Metroid game because I actually liked the gameplay it was the story and narrative that was balls! 😂
I agree to some extent, it was fun to play through lol I think a 3rd person Metroid could work well in some shape or form.
This game need a remake to fix story, Samus, and gameplay. Or just give us a sequel with these improvements
Other M needs a solid reMAKE, not no damned remaster.
Only if the remaster completely rewrites the story.
2:06 ...does that mean you don't like Splatoon?
This game doesn't need a remaster; it needs a *_rewrite!_*
I don't think there's much that can be done with this game.
Gameplay wise, it's mid at best.
Story is trash. It might be salvageable with severe rewrites but you might as well just write an entirely new one to replace it.
If we ever get Wii NSO in the far future, then it should be added same as anything, but otherwise it's best left forgotten.
idk man calling the gameplay mid is pretty harsh there i think the gameplay is awesome but bogged down by a bunch of other issues
No, this game needs to be forgotten
It needs a retranslation
The Japanese script is MUCH better and what we got
It was still dogshit.
Here's the thing: even if it does deserve a remaster, its essentially no longer canon. Why remaster a game like that?
the cinematics are skippable which is the only thing going for it the gameplay is fine its the acting that jarring
Just by reading this video's title the answer is NO!!!
Nope no remastered for Metroid other m that game look good has it is

How about we just move on with better Metroid games, instead.
@@ElvenRaptor Fair enough. I just meant if Nintendo was going to do a remaster or remake, but yeah, probably would be better to leave Other M in the past.
