Wow! Now that's a tribute! And from Hugh Jackman no less! And from the way he speaks he has obviously seen you live. Quite the experience it is, I can tell you! The Divinyls totally deserve this Hall Of Fame Award! Twenty plus years on and the Divinyls are still at the top of every music device I own. Rock On! PS Love School was an absolutely epic piece of brilliance showing your timelessness perfectly! You should all be very proud! x
When I first saw the group on MTV back in the 1990's,I thought she was so dynamic and a great lead as I have ever seen!I am 62 years old and have seen groups like Deep Purple,Fleetwood Mac,Humble Pie among others. She had balls!!
This is a clip from the AUSTRALIAN Record Industry Awards ceremony. So it's just ignorant to say they are one hit wonders. They were one of the biggest bands for a ten year period in the market which is recognising them, Australia.
As an american I just want to say that we arent all so ignorant. Australia has a vibrant and rich music scene. It's clear that the music charts in either country don't necessarily correlate. Even if Divinyls didnt enjoy great pop chart success over here, that doesnt mean that they werent popular in their home country. Anyway, they were popular among college and alternative radio listeners here in the states. I know KROQ in los angeles played them quite a bit before 1991
Problem is too many yanks and a British fetish and don’t look elsewhere. Look at movies. Nearly every one of them has a token British character, yet any Australian cast has to change their accent
I love my Chrissie....I miss her and I know God has the best, beastie Angel EVER!!!! I am so glad I got to see you in the Deep Ellum my love...I see you again in Heaven!!!
I know! Chrissie also reminds me of Ronnie Spector (voice wise) but she is a total original...it's shocking that The Divinyls were not bigger in the States.
yeah duck, here in the states when us 16 year olds saw "Boys in town" we were pretty stunned...whenever we spoke of "hot chicks" on Mtv in the early days she was always at the top of the list
Hah. I don't think there was a man alive in australia back in the 80s, teenager or older, who didn't have dirty thoughts about Ms Amphlett. She was a godess.
Divinyls r great, my fave songs I touch myself, I'm jealous, & Boys in Town. Chrissy is the best :D russitms I'm the same age as U & I think it'ds great 2 know of some1 my age who likes them just as much as me :D
if any one has the other 2 videos of this segment please upload them ( one of them is of Mark and Chrissy having a speach and chrissy was about to cry) PLEASE UPLOAD!
Divinyls will be headlining 'Homebake 2007' in Sydney this December. The Homebake website says that a new album is due, so you never know. Chrissy and Mark need to make a come back!!!
Can you you tell me where all the concerts were. Like Jack i was 15 when i first saw them in Mittagong .x How awesome was it .I saw them 4 times after that .
sorry none of my business, but who would be intimidated by the US? seriously are you taking the piss???, Aussie music is great, a force to be reckoned with.
fiona orman If its so great you wouldn't have been so triggered. Lets face it, nothing tops the American music industry. Most genres of music were born here. Most foreigners are so intimitadated its hilarious.
How can a band from Ur own backyard sit under Ur nose and go so unappreciated . I don't understand. I failed to recognise their greatness . This classifies as a gross musical crime .
" Confrontational & mesmerising like all good rock n roll should be ... "
Dynamic & wonderful
❤ R.I.P. Chrissy ❤
They have so many great songs. Masterpieces.

Very sad to read this 13 years later 😔

Such a subtle guy ......
Huge Ackman!

😂😂😂😂😂😂 imagine thinking the US is the where ‘most genres’ were born
Divinyls were/are one of the most amazing bands in the world! NOT a one-hit wonder at all! I can think of some 20+ real hits from them over the years.

You are not the only one
Ok
