as a fan of transformers armada,i can see a lot of inspiration from tidal wave in the kingdom ark mold,especially that robot mod and the guns on his body
Technically the Ark came first but the guns were never visible in the animation model. I imagine they were added just to give him some armament though it is a shame that none of the guns are articulated as they were on that Tidal Wave figure.
@@RialVestro well, we KNOW the ark has at least one main cannon up front, so minor gun batteries are no surprise. Of course the general ark design has been reworked for general shuttle designs too.
It's a shame nobody has made a transforming or hinge component for those legs spaces. Make an opening or transforming hatch the closes in ship mode but opens up and wraps around the leg or something during robot mode
Absolutely. A hinged clamshell design would have worked marvelously here, with each half of the calf panel hinged allowing the leg to pass through and then closing up and re-tabbing. I figured that'd be one of the first upgrades to hit market, but AFAIK, nobody has even attempted it. The DNA design looks best to me b/c it keeps the natural line of the calf instead of widening out further, but I do wish they'd found a way to make it hinge so as to avoid the parts-forming aspect. Honestly, I figured somebody would make replacement panels for the official ones with a hinging mechanism built right in. If I was good at design and 3D printing/extrusion molding, that's the approach I would have taken. Hasbro should have done that as part of the original design.
Your gonna be happy to know this, but dna is releasing another upgrade kit. It comes with new legs for dino, as well as new arms for jet shatter, and a new headsculpt for car shatter.
I don't mind the gap in the wings, the leg-parts look like engine components to me. Filling in the back of the tower is good and are the hands, but I'd like to see an upgrade where the external parts of the ship have moving gun turrets, especially the ones on the forearms.
Honestly that large gap in the wings really irks me since I know what could have been done to fill it ...well wouldn't be "easy" but doable if they spent a bit more. Hasbro cheeps out on the weirdest things on their higher end toys. The mid gaps near the waist though are something I can and would live with. The tower, hands and extra cannons are MUCH appreciated.

The hands are amazing! I dont really care for the rest of the fillers tho. Especially having to take them on and off for every transformation. Definitely would love to get my articulated hands on some articulated hands tho! 😏
I feel like the hand part of this upgrade kit shouldnt have been needed because hastak shouldve given him better hands legit this figure is such a let down the worst hands and the most hollow titan with no weapon there are some people who think the kinda crappy figure he comes with justifies that

If DNA is doing a weapon for the Ark, it should absolutely turn into the shuttle from Beast Wars.

Ah yes the ark. Yet another missed opportunity for Hasbro. If anything should have turned into a base it's the ark. Not an unknown robot.
