    This is a great video with a great ending, also Cricket made a great cameo so watch all the way through for that "TOO CUTE"! We make educated guesses when in the field doing rescues, sometime we are correct, sometimes we are not, I personally don't mind being wrong like this!

    You can't tell us to "not look up flat flies" and expect that we won't look up flat flies.
    I now itch all over. Thanks Michael.

    Thanks for explaining the bit about secondary poisoning. My local rehab gets raptors that are either slightly injured or poisoned, and the poisoned ones don't survive. Solving a rodent problem with poison requires a lot of collateral damage.

    • @WildlifeCommandCenter
      @WildlifeCommandCenter  2 роки тому +6

      Secondary poisoning gets pretty complicated to especially when you’re dealing with three different types of toxins you’ve got a hemotoxin you’ve got a neurotoxin and then you’ve got a combination that is neither hemotoxin or neurotoxin but it robs the body of oxygen sometimes toxins like zinc phosphate it is very seldom a secondary toxin

      this is why I tell people not to use pesticides on trees. Birds eat the bugs or fruit and die. Same with randomly throwing out rat poison, predators eat the rat or mouse and die also

    Aww, poor little guy. I was going to say, his response to u picking him up showed he is definitely under the weather. The poison rat or other critter he may have eaten is so possible. People constantly revert to poison when getting rid of them. Sad.
    We've cared for bats and birds that hit a window. For the most part, they are gone from the open cage in the morning.
    We generally put them in a big bird cage, papered with water over night. And surprisingly they find the door, probably early in the morning and take off. We've never done a predator. Other than the couple of bats haha. We've done finches, blue Jays and mockingbirds. We have lots of trees around our house and for some reason, they fly into our front porch French doors. Maybe cause it's a stilt house kinda in the trees.
    So happy to hear about the owl. We have them here too. We were building a house in a wooded environment and one morning we came in to an owl sitting in one of the ac registers. Was so cool.

    So happy it's okay! Great video. My new favorite. I'm in the process of moving apartments, so I'm ordering coffee today and having it sent to my new roommate lol. Can't wait to try it. Thinking about the breakfast blend...I normally drink like a med roast...

      That's how I drink mine. I ordered a bag of the breakfast blend (I'll try the other next time lol) but had it sent in my new roommates name and address (Shaun B. From las vegas lol) and I got a notification saying there was a problem with the postal address, but then it disappeared and charged me. So I'm guessing everything is OK lol. I ordered it specifically because it's for a good cause. And I like coffee lol. Thanks for everything you do for all these animals. They only get a 2nd chance because of you. Pretty awesome.

    A raptor flat fly, well that sounds terrifying and disgusting. Also it is a shame that not all owls and hawks you catch make it, but in nature it's the survival of the fittest and sometimes intervention can't change the outcome of what happens in the end, but I'm glad this one did.

      Owls eyes are fixed in the skull in their eyeballs cannot move like ours do so when she wants to focus on something she has to move her head around to get a good focus

    knocked himself stoopid LOL had a pigeon do that at my my work one day, I dont know what he was thinking, but he flew right into our front glass door, didnt even blink!! I know that because he left a greasy imprint on the glass that was so detailed you could make out the details in his feathers, beak and eyes which were wide open and he hit that glass dead on, never saw it!! Unlike the owl tho, he did more than just knock himself stoopid, probably broke his neck because he was dead as a doornail, poor dude. I wonder if the owl might have done the same thing? I've heard of other birds just not seeing large glass windows, they reflect the sky and the bird thinks its sky and they fly right into it.
