  • Oliver Cromwell (1599-1658), was an English military and political leader who played a key role in the English Civil War. He led the Parliamentary forces against King Charles I, ultimately contributing to the king's execution in 1649. Cromwell later became Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland, and Ireland, ruling as a de facto head of state from 1653 until his death in 1658. His tenure is marked by controversial measures, including the dissolution of Parliament and strict military rule, leading to debates over whether he was a dictator or a champion of republicanism.

    Was Oliver Cromwell a dictator?
Yes, absolutely he was. Unless you have an alternate term for one who takes absolute leadership of a country by military force. Interestingly, had it not been for the army, he likely would have accepted the King’s Crown, but he was named Lord Protector instead. This position exercised more power than any king in living memory. And then when he died, they tried to pass on the title to his son, Richard.

Do me a favour, if this isn’t just a racist dogwhistle as I hope and wish to believe:
      - Sources for the claim
      - Your definition of “a lot”
      - Why their being Jews is of relevance?
