- My 2nd team member pops up a little under odds, Shiny Wurmple! Pretty happy with this one as I did use a Dustox on my original Pearl save file back in the day. A little throwback to Gen 4.
Eterna Forest is genuinely busted in these games. The encounters are fast enough with Sweet Scent/Honey but the 1/4096 plus the 2 Pokemon seen per encounter, it makes for a very easy and comfortable hunt for anyone. I'd genuinely recommend this area if you're new to shiny hunting & you want to sample full odds.

What do u use to keep track of resets?
Heya just wanted to say you've inspired me to start shiny hunting and I've been in love with it for a good 2 years now. Congrats on your shinies :) I've prepared the infamous shiny manaphy hunt to take on next, wish me luck!
I hate to break it to you but i think Manaphy isn't huntable

@@_Bendy It is :) check his channel, he explains how it works. Or just google it. It requires the old ranger games and a lot of effort but it's entirely possible.But yeah, Steve hunted it himself

eterna forest is an s tier pokemon location.
the soundtrack and the fact that i got a shiny wurmple in pearl after only 80 encounters make this one of my favourite places to visit ^^

I was wondering: Why a Machamp? And what happens if the Chansey attacks the Wurmple?
Then it all came to fruition when you said, “Let’s just kick Chansey right in the face.” It just sent me. Lmao
The chansey can kill the shiny ✨
Machamp also has the No Guard ability, which works the same as Illuminate.
Imagine if the AI ally knew not to attack shinies. That would be cool lol
When you hunt with an NPC, you have to take out their Pokemon as soon as possible because they can potentially kill the shiny.

Also hopefully they fixed the glitch where if you find 2 Shiny Pokémon at once it'll cause the game to crash!

Hi Steve I just found shiny Wurmple myself a day after finding shiny Mudkip. it's just evolved into Cascoon and so will be a Dustox. Looking forward to having it in my team

Wurmple (Dustox) was my first ever shiny like 16 years ago, so this makes me so happy. I don't play pokemon anymore but this makes me want to get these games 😭

Congrats, still working on my first shiny from e forest i have hunted for about 30 hr getting at least 170 encounters per hour i hope i get mine soon this, really helps me stay motivated.
Just curious, I know the normal way to track shiny hunting is by the amount of encounters. But how long does it take on average time wise ? I understand that it vastly differs by how fast you are able to do the hunt (soft resets vs wild encounters) and how much time you are actually spending a day. But just curious as someone who is just getting into shiny hunting.
The short answer is no one can tell you how long it takes. You can give yourself a rough estimate of the time by counting the encounter speed but that would assume maximum efficiency. No one hunts at that rate consistently. The average time is essentially like asking how long is a piece of string. It's so variable. I'd encourage you not to focus on time & try to just focus on the resets/encounters you're doing. Try to make shiny hunting the background task while you're watching TV, Netflix, streams etc. I truly think that's the key.
If you're new to shiny hunting, try and focus on the fact that it's random at a 1/4096 chance per reset. You're at odds at 4,096 seen. You'll get some hunts underodds, some overodds. It's all RNG.
(All this assuming you're hunting at full odds)

@@Sonikks thanks for the reply! That’s exactly what I’ve been doing. Binging your videos has been a great form of entertainment for now and encouraging haha. Is there a form of hunting you would recommend for first timer? Or are all forms created equal?
If we're talking full odds hunts, I'd suggest Johto starters in HG/SS, Eterna Forest in D/P/Pt or even the remakes. They're just so fast and the usual gateway full odds hunts people gravitate to. A lot of really cool shinies. Something else you could potentially work with is Gen 5 double grass encounters. @YourFriedBread has a ton of videos from double grass you could look at for inspiration perhaps.

I did 3phases and got 2 silcoon and one budew, I would trade that one silcoon for buneary or murkroe but I got them via underground so I'm happy lol

As entertaining as the shining hunting community is on UA-cam, I have yet to see, even from the bigger channels, any of them employ the same kind of finesse, precision and style I put into my hunts. They all seem to follow the same formula and challenges.

Hahahahahahaha I’ve been hunting in here since the date of release to get a shiny on my team, and now I’m more than 2 times over odds with nearly 100 In-game hours. Legends Arceus is probably going to release before I get anything.
Anyway, great job on the shiny worm! Looks awesome. Hopefully I can get mine sometime this century

Hay I’m just wondering if it matters if I have a fake Pokémon ruby? Dose it effect me if I try to get it to gen 8 and can you get shinys if it dose matter where can I get Pokémon ruby without getting a fake coppy of the game?
I wouldn't recommend hunting on a fake game.

That is false and not how mathematics work. It's 1/4096, specifically 2 x 1/4096. Each Pokemon is still 1/4096. It's like doing two random encounters at once. The same way hunting across two games doesn't make it 2/4096, it's just 2 x 1/4096.
I'm 48 hours into this forest and still nothing... I guess my luck with the starter made me unlucky for the others twt

hello, been shiny hunting the gifted happiny. does anyone have any good tips for making it faster? i use my bike and i have a magby with flame body, i cant hink of anything else to make it aster. its been so long and i want it so bad...
There's no way to make it faster than that. Maybe do a side hunt next to it to pass the time on another system.
@@Sonikks i found out that going in a small circle rather then making a big loop saves time by 2 min. i wihs we had the quarter trick from xy back again...

I ran into a shiny wurmple in my normal play through by accident, and was so annoyed cause it was my least favourite
Currently I am shiny hunting shaymin once I am done I am going for shiny bagon. Hopefully i can get beldum as a swarm so I am shiny hunt him.
