Nice suggestion, I know the theory behind them but I don't think I would be able to get my hands on those materials. I need ribbons for the finishing, wrie for the ear tabs and straps for the back of the head to have it secure
I am doing something wrong I am trying to practice and my needle is getting catcht in the net when I try to pull it back throught . Then once I am able to pull it through after the 20 or more time trying I cant make a not . Any tips or advice ?
first, i would like to thank you for your wonderful and helpful videos. secondly, what type of fabric, specifically should i purchase for the silk top? I already have the lace, but Im having trouble figuring out what the other fabric is. i know some vendors tend to use a type that wrinkles, and i do not want that. Thanks a lot! Hope to hear from you soon!
To be honest I also don't have the professional silk material they use, it must be 100% non-stretchy and it should not have a weaving pattern, sometimes it is nylon and has a little tiny bit of transparency but against the head it looks totally solid colour. I think "satin" would describe it as good as possible, but I think real satin fabric would be rather more fragile than the silk material. The best thing is to invest in some silk fabric from a professional site that would probably cost a lot but then you will be able to see what it is and try to buy something cheaper that will be as identical as possible.
If you use a normal nylon silk-top material yes you will have no problem. The fabric here is normal sewing fabric and I used it only for demonstration, it is not for silk tops whatsoever. But you have to be a little careful when you try to pull the hair, don't be too harsh if your needle gets stuck to the material then you might rip it if you don't pay attention!
For silk tops they use 3 layers of fabric. 2 layers of lace. And 1 layer of silk. Here i only see you using 2. Can you show us a silk top youve made...with natural scalp looking silk fabric?
I have never made a silk top for wear, I only wanted to show people the math behind it cause people were searching to see how the hair is on the silk side. I searched and found this. There is another way to make them and I should really make another video (the french method is knotting the hair while pulling it through the silk as well) I don't think I will ever go through the time and labor to make a silk top for sure!
just saw your vid...amazing! where can i purchase the lace and the nylon fabric for creating the silk top? do you have a vid on how to vent for beginners?
I do have videos on how to ventilate This is the first video I made, it shows the ventilation but with a crochet hook or a latch hook, you still see how a knot is being made though: Hair Ventilating methods - Crochet Hook or Latch Hook This is a video about using the German needle, I no longer use the German one cause it is not as fast as the Asian and I can't do the double knots easily with the German needle, still you can clearly see the ventilation: PART 1 - Ventilating with German needle - single knots, double knots, double split knots This video is identical to the previous but with a latch hook, problem with latch hook is that it is huge and you can hardly use it on real wig making lace: PART 2 - Ventilating with Latch Hook - Single knots, Double knots, Double Split knots This is the last video that shows ventilation, it is not as close-up as the two previous (cause the two previous were shot with an analogue camera with extreme macro) with the Asian needle that I use to ventilate: Asian Needle Ventilation Demonstration ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As for you question on where to buy lace and materials, for cheap lace you can go to "amazinghairstore.com" they also have needles and other wig making things. For professional sites you can visit Banbury and Postiche or Hugo Royer, they are more expensive but they have the professional line! www.banburypostiche.co.uk/ www.royer.co.uk/main.php
I see you have some white hair in this video. It's not synthetic, is it? I'm having a tough time finding any and I need it for a project. Ideally, I need white human hair around 16-18" long. No shorter than 14" and true white. Next choice would be a pale platinum (not blond!) I'm sure I would not need an entire bundle, so if you have any partial bundles left over from previous jobs, wefts or not, perhaps I could buy some of it from you? I'm just working some grey in around the hairline of one wig. Not a lot. I'm certain half a bundle would be *more* than enough. Alternatively, perhaps you could direct me to a site where I could buy some for myself? If this isn't something easy to obtain, do you think I could could use some synthetic, or would the difference in texture be too obvious? It's a Peruvian wig, and the hair seems fine and not at all kinky, just softly waved.
@@SuperWigMaker I have an elderly neighbour with very long white hair. I was thinking to knock him off because he's a real pain, so I will be sure to save the hair for you.
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos!!! I really appreciate it!
Thank you so much for the work you do to share your ideas and tips with us.

Great tutorial on silk tops. I would like to know if you can make a glueless full lace cap tutorial?

OMG! This is genius! I think I say this in almost all your videos. lol
I think if if cut the hair off the weft knot it onto net then pull thru method with silk. What do you think?

thank you for the quick response. ill go and look soon. after I find one and do some test ventilating, ill let you know the results.
does the needle pass through the fabric without any problem ?

Thank you ! for beautiful teacher!I'm from Ukraine
There is a special needle for silk bases. It pushes the hairs back through so you can hide the knots and the return hair
that's right. what he does is very clumsy.
what is it called? can’t find anything online

DIY: Silk Top French Method (harsh language :P)
Super Wig Maker, is this for silk bases that wants to hide the knots? No bleaching knots?
Yes this is the idea, of course the materials used here are not the correct ones.
Where can i find the right ones?
so, are you doing this twice? 1st a knot under, then pull through to other side?
Great video, thanks for making it, but wouldn't it be much easier and faster to use a tambouring needle?
I don't now what a tambouring needle is, there is another video in my videos about how to make it with a pull-through needle.
Maybe you mean that one
yeah its similar to a beading needle

Hi, Can you use monolace and would it be harder?
Does any where in Jamaica sell ventilated needle
AliExpress
what is under the lace so it won't move.
The lace is pinned all around in the perimeter and while being pined I made sure it is stretched enough to keep a nice tension.
What's the name of the lace u used, and what's the color of it
This specific material was just tulle.
But I sell lace on my site:

That specific one is synthetic. And yes I was trying to get virgin white unprocessed hair (from old people) and that thing is rare.
Would it turn out all right if I bought some synthetic white to use in a human hair wig? It's made of Peruvian and seems pretty fine.
