Had a Gecko 155 Beautiful glider, easy to land. I weight 145, 5' 6". It just feels to big it the air and to heavy on the ground. Icaro Alto 148 aspect ratio 7 YES! I am now kicking ass!! WW Sport3 NO thanks mister yuk sticker on that one.
I think the S3s are improved from the sport 2. They can be hard to throw around in a thermal, apparently. I just got a Moyes Sonic. It is definitely a heavy build style, I know what you mean. I wish a glider was about 45 lbs. My Alpha 180 comes close at 46lbs. And honestly, I love that thing, it climbs So good. I think it's one of the most under rated single surfaces there is. Perfect for lighter wind days. Can land on a dime. Extremely easy handling. Good luck trying new gliders! Let us know what you turn up. I always enjoy your videos.
@@born2flygliderguy S3 is fine in thermals, just like S2 (flew one in Valle de Bravo this year). The control inputs, though, are very different from Alfa, Falcon, Pulse etc., perhaps just like any higher performance glider.
@@alexmark1982 Csaba was gonna buy a S2 135 (heavy loaded on it) because he wanted something he could land easy. But after a few flights, decided to keep using his topless Laminar Italian glider, because it has way lighter handling. But I can't personally say I know for sure. I do know his glider is way more high performance than the S3. But a difference in handling style may be all it is, I also don't know what he had the VG set on. Alex would know way more than me about this.
Great video, - nice landing, - such a beautiful area… Had a Gecko 155, starts easily, climbs great, lots of bar pressure, doesn't land easily, - feels heavy. Now have an S3 155, everything is light and simple. Also have an Icaro Relax and also an RX2, they are pretty much the same, - everything is very light and very simple….
For beach flying, I'd go bigger than 155. Shit, for beach flying unless really windy, I'd be on a floater still capable of decent enough penetration. Love your site there, wish similar existed here!
I have an RX5 and considered a Gecko for my dotage but picked one up and it didn't feel markedly lighter than the RX. I've now got a (but yet to fly) big Malibu 2.

What was wrong with Sport 3?

I sold my Malibu 1 and am about to buy the Malibu 2, great option!
