@@SteFly I remembered that kind of huge lift paragliding with a Friend, it was very impressive cause I wasn't used to, this IS the heart of gliders that make us looking for flying again without engine!

I am planing my trip to Australia and New Zealand this year in November. Never managed to make up my mind to have a trial glider flight at my local glider club here in Aachen Germany. I kinda wanna change that and plan for it in advance.
Hope you make it there to and have an beautiful flight!

The fastest Condor flight I ever did was in that region of the world. 750km in 3hrs - that's right, a 250kph average speed. The wings were rattling almost the whole way.

If there are no clouds or you’re above them, that cockpit is a very efficient glasshouse. In my limited experience, staying cool is more of a problem. Not sure about 20,000 ft, though, as my soaring experience is limited to ridge soaring.

Thanks for the info. Is staying cool an issue minus clouds if it's very cold outside? Or is gliding typically a fair weather activity? I have never been in a glider (one day maybe), but enjoy watching videos on the subject.

Apart from a week in Scotland to gain my Diamond height badge in wave lift, I have never really done any mountain soaring. New Zealand looks absolutely epic, and can only envy the guys that are able to fly there on a regular basis.

thank you Stefan for the beautiful view, scientists are telling the truth that the earth has warmed up a lot in recent years, there should be more snow where you flew and the snow is melting very quickly

@stefan I always see you wearing your basketball cap while flying. It is not effective in protecting against UV radiation. Your skin ages with every flight. You are still young, so you do not see the damage yet, but in 20 years you will see it. Skin cancer is a real concern for pilots. Sun cream does not work properly for strong UV radiation above 4000 meters. For optimal protection, it's possible that you could bring out an excellent soaring hat. Thanks for sharing.

The owner of the soaring co should paint his sailplanes orange color... In order to reduce the chance of air colision with a white plane on a white landscape...
