Thanks again for pointing this out! I finally found my way to visit the place. It is great to see that they maintain these things and allow the public to freely visit them.

Another good one. Now I feel I have to visit the site. Maybe next time when I go back to Japan.

Yet another place to check out when I find myself back in Tokyo. Thanks for the tip on this one; I hope Google Translate is able to understand the display descriptions, given there doesn't seem to be English text in them.
Have you been to the JAXA site in Tsukuba? It's a nice place to visit, very accessible from Tokyo or as a sidetrip from Mito. But seeing a launch from the Tanegashima Space Center would be one for the bucket list. Timing would be very tricky since launches from Japan are quite rare =|

Let me know if I can help. It is a big institution and on Google Maps, and a bus line from Mitaka station. Thanks for watching Astrophotography Japan!

I have not visited the JAXA site in Tsukuba, yet. It is definitely a bucket list item. About 5 years ago, from afar, I witnessed my first and only rocket launch - a SPaceX rocket from Cape Canaveral in Florida. It was truly a highlight for a child of the early Space Age like myself! I can still "feel" it!
