Guncraft Gen 2 "AR-15" 22 Magnum (with accuracy testing)

- I've owned and used many AR15s from the centrefire 223 and 308 Ruger, Colt, Remington and Daniel Defence rifles, to the rimfire ARs such as the Smith & Wesson 15-22, the Ruger SR 22, the Kriss Defiance and Franklin Armory F17 rifles.
The Guncraft AR15 in 22WMR is the current king of rimfire ARs as it's made from 7075 with zero movement between the upper and lower receivers, it's superbly accurate at just 0.3" for 5-shots @ 50 using CCI 40gr JHP and when shooting it, the real feel is there of the bolt cycling back onto an actual buffer spring and buffer like the centrefire AR15 does. My only complaint about the rifle is that I wish the last round hold open feature was like the centrefire AR15 in that when you remove the mag, the bolt catch stays engaged. I decked mine out with Daniel Defense and Strike Industries furniture along with a Trigger Tech Diamond 2-stage trigger and Aimpoint CompM5 red dot to give it the feel that I was after.
I got mine from the guys at Gun City in New Zealand and whilst there's a bit of paperwork involved, they made it as smooth as possible as this rifle is not currently imported to Australia, so they were my next best option. Overall I absolutely love this rifle and in this video I test the accuracy and reliability using Remington, CCI and Federal rimfire ammunition for the best option in controlling feral pests on my farm. - Спорт
Great review and nice rifle. This and every semi-auto rifle and shotgun should be available to all law abiding citizens in this country.
100% they should be and it’s what I have advocated for since starting this channel 💪
Here to boost the algorithm. Love your work mate.
Thanks mate
Beautiful firearm.
How do you work out the holdovers at different ranges when using the Red Dot?
@@Lij_MCif you zero the cci 40gr jhp at 100, it’s only 0.9” high at 50, so for feral pest control that’s perfect, aim and fire 👍
@@ozziereviews Thanks Ozzie
Awesome review! Thanks for the shout out, pleasure to make it as easy as possible for you!
Your crazy markup is the worst part about this rifle
Nice rifle mate and awesome review as usual.
Great review, thanks Ozzie! 👍👍
We ain't never getting semi's back I've had so many shooters say to me over the years the old what do you need a semi auto for? Their belief is if they don't want one I shouldn't have one either. We are also fighting the enemy from within our own ranks and thats why we're screwed.
Yep pathetic shooters who are so frightened of the government they “self regulate” in the hope that they won’t lose anymore firearms, but how will they feel when the government continue to ban bolt actions, how will they like it when they’re told “what do you need that 308 for, no one needs that?!”
Awsome review love the cat c reviews
Just subscribed 👍🏻
I’m in the U.K. and have one of their 22LR’s. I can confirm the quality, there is zero “battle rattle” they are seriously good quality.
The guys at Guncraft are really easy going and helpful making sure quality control is top notch.
I’ve never had a failure to cycle and the only light strikes were because I set up my upgraded trigger too lightly.
great vid ozzie, nice to see some of the cat C stuff
I was looking for one of those a while back but BCA came out with their version and I love mine extremely accurate and really no malfunctions at all.
My BCA runs well too.
Hi Ozzie I am in south Africa...enjoying your videos ...I thought our AR is expensive but then I cant complain only thing this side is the licensing that take for ever from the day you buy the rifle it can take upto a year to get your license...my AR took about 5 months...but we lucky we can have just about any rifle that is available...I got a Norinco type 56 and a Smith and Wesson MPII AR15 maybe not the best but I replace most of the furnuture on it...well keep up the good work that side of the world and hope your laws get better some time..
That’s interesting to know, yes, gun laws are a global fight in my view as we all need to stick together to fight the BS places on us licensed shooters 👍
Mate it the same here in Western Australia 🇦🇺 I feel for you brother I am so very sick and tired of all bollstit in r country's
Great video once again.
Glad you enjoyed it
Love ya work mate!!
Love ya comment mate 😉👍
💥💥💥 lots of applications for this setup… especially predator.
Nice got my eye on one when i can afford it
Oh if only we could get these in NSW on cat a or b
Very nice mate 👌 👍
Fantastic piece of kit there congrats on getting it in and hope it does the job for you as expected. Thanks for the look.
I will be doing some feral pest control content for you guys soon 👍
@@ozziereviews hope things work out for getting the recording of shooting pigs and wild dogs and red foxes etc
The price blows my mind. I bought the Remington 556 ar15 in NZ in 2015 for $2500 kiwi. This is a lot more than the high end ozy made real ar's.
Nice looking Rifle I'm a primary producer and I have the CZ 512 semi auto 22 magnum had it for nearly 10 years it loves the 30gr V-max no firing issues with any other brands apart from having to replace the firing pin not long after I purchased it
Yup a truely reliable rifle the CZ, I had the volquartsen 22mag and it’s very reliable but I wanted an AR15 platform in the calibre but had to pay for it that’s for sure!
@@ozziereviews I hope you get a good run out of the rifle and I enjoy watching your reviews I'm thinking of purchasing a Hikmicro Alpex A50t night vision scope would be great if you could get your hands on one for a review appreciate your knowledge cheers
I have the same rifle (CZ 512) and I love it except for the 10 round Mag. Do you know of a 15-30 round mag that works with yours?
@@larry78211 Here in Australia we are only allowed to use a maximum of 10 round mag with a semi auto so I carn"t help you with that sorry.
@@flemoaus1610Wow! That's no fun!
Fantastic video Ozzie love seeing the semi auto reviews just wondering how long did you wait for your permit for that rifle?
B709 as a primary producer so about a month then had to wait 2 weeks for NZ to get their export permit, then 4 days for it to arrive, then about 2 weeks for customs to do their thing and a dealer to collect
@@ozziereviewswhen do ya get your mk22 sniper .
I have one of these here in the uk with a trigger tech trigger its s great rifle very accurate
I got a couple of different AR triggers so I may replace it soon but for the time being I can’t fault it and doubt I will ever to be honest
Great review. I bought a Bear Creek Arsenal, AR-22 WMR, 20" SS barrel recently. Mine shoots CCI Maxi-Mags 40 gr solid the best. I have shot groups as small as 3/4" at 100 yards. My only complaint is the right side charging piece vs the standard AR charging handle.
Yes I saw that one but immediately thought why not have the original AR controls? There’s a lot of us out there who like ARs in rimfire calibres and would like the controls all the same as the centrefire versions
Thanks again for your great content. Any chance for a relieves on the Aartech pump action and straight pulls?
I’m keen to check it out 👍
Great video @Ozzie!
Just got my collectors license, which includes a Cat C endorsement👌🏼
Can’t import on a collectors license through. I’d love any tips on the best way to find a quality secondhand Cat C rifle like this one?
I have a collectors licence too. Ring dealers. Make friends with farmers or pest controllers whom can import for themselves then sell it to you when they are done with it.
Another great vid Ozzie! when you were operating the action through my headphones it sounded rough or gritty and I could see some powder fouling!, do you think that might be an issue later on?
No the sound is the buffer and spring which is very realistic like the 223 version and that pic I took of the stovepipe was after numerous rounds so I found it runs fine for a few hundred rounds with minimal issues other than the couple of jams I had with the mag
Another top video 👍
These retail for £1700 uk, I think that's 3400 Aus..ouch, I'll stick with me remmy 597 for now.
Yup add another 2k on that for shipping and import tariffs unfortunately but I’m impressed with it at the end of the day, just not the price 😂
your interest in thisw calibre appreciated by me but these type of semi autos is very rare here most never would be using such rifles, bolt action longer barrels for most.
Just wondering if you’re looking at getting a arttech Prima XP pump action to review. I’m up in the air about get a 7600 or the arttech the arttech for me being left hand feels better in the hand and to operate in a store but I worried about the long gevity and there doesn’t seem to be many reviews online
Hi mate
Great review
As a primary producer in WA
Would I be able to get the cat C license for this rifle?
Cheers
Ohhh so scary I love it alot !!!!
I’d love one but 😢
Gday Ozzie, a great rifle and review. Is there any chance of a review on the Enfield arms Genesis one. Believe it is made right here in Gympie Queensland.
Couldn't agree more its an interesting rifle with no coverage
I’d be happy to take a look at it
Love the rifle. Are the straight pull versions of the AR a Cat B rifle?
Yes but here’s the stupidity, some states allow them but you can import them because they are classed as category d on appearance. Amazing isn’t it?
@@ozziereviews The staff in my local Gun shop here in Vic were talking about your new rifle. I hope it serves you well for years to come
Weird they recommend aguila. i don't mind them but i think it makes the gun dirtier than CCI.
Since it has adjustable stock, does this make it a prohibited firearm in NSW?
I hold a nsw cat c license as a primary producer.
Hi Ozzie, a Kiwi here. Just got one for myself. I could see how much you liked it, so I had to get one. Just wondering, is the charging handle a standard AR15 type?
Sure is mate, I’m running the strike industries charging handle and I’ve since tried Aguila ammo and it loves it so that might be a cheaper option if available in NZ?
Wish I could get one in the USA
Now that's a comment I've never heard before.
The closest thing we have is made by Bear Creek Arsenal. Reviews on it have been hit or miss.
That’s the problem with so many centrefire ARs being available in the USA, the quality of the rimfire ARs aren’t as realistic whereas countries like the UK where only rimfire semi autos are legal, they will make the best they can to mirror the centrefire versions like the guncraft
Great informative video as usual.
I want one.
I grow lemons and oranges down the backyard.
Does that qualify me as a primary producer😎
BTW Hows the health standing up at the moment. Everyone wishes you well
Lol grow a few more lemons then 😎
Health is improving every day mate 👍
Heads up as well there’s a bloke in the UK that’s made a working bolt release that doesn’t drop when the mag drops.
Cool, details?
@@ozziereviewsrange23 he has a youtube channel, works on all sorts of rimfire mags
@@c4four132thanks for the info 👍
Could you please do review on the chimera pb 223 push button rifle thx 🤙🍻
I’m keen to have a look
@@ozziereviews thanks mate
Regarding red dots, you could get a canted red dot if you want the best of both worlds.
Also that price, I swear I did a backflip when I heard that (in comparison to my $800 Ruger 77 22mag).
Yup it’s a lot of money but I really wanted this rifle too!
@@ozziereviews fair enough, nothing wrong with that, I'd love one too if I could afford it!
What is the closest thing to the look and feel of this gun that is legal for purchase in Australia?
I'm curious why you shoot in 50 or 100 yards instead of meters, I'm ex AU army and all our range shoots were in meters. Is it to cater for American viewers? EU and I think even the UK use meters now?
Maybe because he is old.
Does AR come in .222 REM and SAKO???
would be a little tighter with a moderator surely? mine certainly is.
Check out out the new Smith&Wesson 22 magnum pistol Ozzie and then weep because we can"t have it in Australia.
Now you're just teasing Ozzie...
Yes perhaps, but there are a lot of primary producers, feral pest controllers, collectors, firearm instructors and dealers that follow my channel and are interested in this content too...
@@ozziereviews I agree and really enjoyed the review. Good, solid, honest info for anyone who might be in the market. I'd get one in a heartbeat. Thanks for the content.
@@IngloriousGlueBombsno worries mate cheers
The more he teases the more people might wake up.
how to purchase it mate ? im holding category A,B.
Is this legal in NSW?
Is this legal in oz , I would love one it would be the perfect bunny slayer
If you have a category c licence then yes it is legal in Australia
Wish I could have one of these with my A/B licence.
Get a collectors licence and you can have one. It's not that hard.
@@serverlan763how does collectors licence work and can you shoot them anywhere
@@serverlan763 I'd also like a bit more info like the comment above mine.
@@FerventReminder It's not for me to echo firearm ownership legislation but id start by joining your local firearms Collectors Club. Typically you wont be allowed to buy a modern firearm on your collectors lic for the first year but after that you can. In the NT you have to have a theme and you can have a secondary theme as well.
Example of a theme = Pocket semi auto pistols, Secondary theme = Rimfire semi auto rifles
Your milage may vary state to state.
👍👍👍
Unburned powder in breech?
Typical rimfire however it’s less dirty than a 22lr I find
🤠👍
A rival to BCA 22 Magnum with side charging handle upper or complete rifle...
Good for self defence ✅
Good for hunting ✅
22 magum sounds better too!
I thought semis were banned?
He has a category C and D license.
🔥🔥🔥👌🍻🥰
dont let onefour get their hands on this
Can I buy one in NSW
If you have a cat c license.
@@SirBigzalot how do I acquire a cat c
Not really a review since you've pretty much modified everything besides the barrel, you've mentioned accuracy hasn't been affected for review purposes but the whole point of a review is the function, handling and accuracy which isn't correct since theirs more aftermarket parts on that rifle then factory
Ok I get it, you’re mates with the other bloke on here commenting the same, so my reply will be the same, I won’t waste my time educating you on how an unmodified receiver, bolt, barrel, buffer and spring means the accuracy is the same.
Why do a review when very few people can have one!
Because it’s not all about just a/b licence holders on my channel, there are thousands of primary producers in Australia that can have these not to mention feral pest controllers, collectors and firearm instructors who can own these 👍
Why not? Might wake a few people the hell up.
Fan of your channel. But not sure why review firearms that are impossible to own in this country. Pretty much.
He is entitled to. If you want to own one why not advocate instead of complain.
Had to stop watching half way out of pure jealousy. If anyone needs me, I'll be sitting on the floor of the shower, crying.
Was thinking today. Hmm I haven’t seen any reviews in a while. Apparently I wasn’t subscribed. 🙄🙄
It’s UA-cam unsubscribing my subscribers mate, they do it all the time to prevent me from growing
@@ozziereviews all good mate. I hit the sub button.
@@SirFlaccidTheLargethanks mate and hit the bell notification too. Some people have resubscribed to me 8 and 9x now, just ridiculous
@@ozziereviews holy hell
Why have a forward assist? It's chambered in 22 Magnum so obviously will never be a military rifle.
The only thing I don't like is I can not buy one in stit state wa
Too bad only about 5 people can own one.
There are thousands of primary producers here in Australia who can own these rifles, not to mention feral pest controllers, collectors and firearm instructors. Yes, not as many as what we have as A/B licence holders but my channel has always been about EVERY category of firearm 👍
@@ozziereviews I know, I was being hyperbolic. It's just dumb how a rimfire rifle is so heavy regulated and a shame it's not available to non-cat C shooters..
Watching Cat C & D gun reviews make me sad.
Good for some 🙄
With price pass. Bull shit unreal.
Too spezialised video
here's my review of this rifle but I changed everything on it first. what's the point of a review if you modified the whole rifle? a review of a rifle should start with how it came from factory and maybe halfway thru say hey I didn't like X Y or Z so I did these changes. then proceed. Some of those cosmetics are also ergonomics so are no longer "just cosmetic"
None of those changes make an ounce of difference to accuracy as the receiver, bolt, barrel, buffer and spring are unmodified as it comes from the factory. If you knew a bit more bout c/d firearms and legalities of their use, you'd understand why I filmed it the way that I did...
@@ozziereviews oh look at you trying to throw shade. I was more referring to the handling of the firearm out of the rest where the factory shipped rifle would have been different. i.e. handling and feel which could lead to issues. showing off all your tactikool upgrade makes a "review" pointless unless there was a base benchmark. Also the trigger swap you did would have made a difference to accuracy in and out of the rest. as for legalities are you saying the rifle as shipped was illegal?
@@Shelldrakeausyou are not worth my time in educating
That fucking stupid expensive wtf
