    Squat Charleston is athletic and powerful, and can sometimes be an intimidating jazz move. In this video, I build up the Squat Charleston with other related movement to make it more attainable & easier for our bodies to understand. Hope you enjoy it and let me know if you have any questions!

    So very well explained. I like how you pay attention to the details and care to explain them, which really makes the difference when trying out a move. Thank you for uploading! I'm definitely considering subscribing to your Patreon.

    Not sure why a year old hop and swing dance tutorial was recommended to me this morning but this was pretty cool

    Thanks so much for the mirror/backview split screen!
    Just like in classes with good mirrors.
    ...now I'm just missing the part of the mirror where I see myself, so I can compare 🤔
    Time to invest in a full size mirror!

    Wow this is a great tutorial, one day I want to be able to dance like those classic charleston dancers. It is surprisingly exhausting but I guess I gotta work on my stamina haha... I especially want to learn that move at 3:30, it’s almost like you’re floating in the air while dancing, looks very impressive! Ok now I need to practice...

      Thank you, and you can do it!! Squat Charleston is definitely one of the more exhausting moves. I remember having to really work at it (and my intervals of work were not very long). Stick with it, and it'll happen. Really work on the bounce of your standing leg. That is the key.

    Really enjoying your content, thank you. Excellent well done. Part of me wants you to have a series called "Through the Looking Glaess", an in depth technique course. To top it off, coining a variation of camel walks, calling in the "Jabberwock". lol Love your work.

      Hi, Amber! Really, any swing-era jazz I can think of will fit these movements pretty well. If you want the songs I was using in the video, I always link to the artist's purchase page at the end of the video. Here's the music for this video:
      Demo Song: Jo Jo, by the Brooks Prumo Orchestra
      Squats in a Sentence: Dinah, by the Brooks Prumo Orchestra
      Intro/Outro Song: Six Cats and a Prince, by the Brooks Prumo Orchestra

    Is this done on a 4 or 8 count?

    • @LauraGlaess
      @LauraGlaess  3 роки тому

      4 and 8 are one and the same. As long as the kicks out are on even beats, you can begin on whatever count you want!
