- This is my Blade Chroma with the new Rakon Heli upgrade kit. All Carbon fiber and aluminum. Good design for the most part but a few flaws with this kit. This is a quick review of both, the Blade Chroma 4K and the Rakon Heli upgrade kit.
We just built this frame this week as well. We did a build video too. Love the frame. Just a friendly suggestion. -- Use loctite on each screw that is sitting in the metal threads. if its a metal to metal connection... use blue loctite or you will certainly loose screws. Fly safe. Can't wait to see your next flight test video.
Excellent video, I just found out about this kit. I just bought my blade chroma yesterday and I am already looking to get one of these kits, it looks super awesome. How is the difficulty level on putting this together? And thanks for the advice on what to look for and what to do with this kit. Please post more videos on how it's operating now that you tweaked a couple of problems.

Gobi, I've tried everything. I think it has some thing to do with landing gear. I replaced the aftermarket landing gear with original landing gear and it seemed to help.
Joe, just a heads up, they recommend calibrating the gps when ever you change geographic locations but I have been calibrating mine every time I take mine out, even if I'm still in the location and its seems to fly flawlessly. small price to pay to avoid it from flying away for no apparent reason.
Please post some more video. I just purchased Rakon Heli Chroma kit because I too had a mishap, and I didn't want to order another body, LOL

Is it possible to use another motor? my chroma broke, I made a modification with F450 frame. It was very good, but I wanted to change the brushless for an easier one to buy. would it be possible to use one of 800kv?

Yes sir it did indeed fly away. ..... so far I've sent the remote back to horizon hobby and they've verified that nothing is wrong with the controller. So far they are wanting to offer me a new one at half price and I let them know I think that its B.S. They should be replacing it free of charge being how it is still under warranty. Robert, the HH Rep I've been talking to concerning my case says he's gonna get back to me once he speaks to his manager. I expect to hear from him tomorrow or the next day.

Scoby, this is the one they're replacing the 350 with. it is a little bit larger than the 350.
Flyaway drone alert. .... This my chroma just flew away and is now M.I.A. It's lost in the desert somewhere. ..

+Kyle Ortega , since I wasn't able to recover my chroma, they weren't able to come to a conclusion on what caused it. I sent the remote in and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They think it might have lost the gps signal, I disagree. I neversaw that on the remote. so it's inconclusive at this point.
Nice Blade, I purchased one I love it... Man where did you get that Body style and how much... I just wished the ST10+ had longer range... I subscribed check out my Blade video's.
+Angel I bought my kit from Ebay, it was a little cheaper that way, however the shipping was a little slower then other places. www.rakonheli.com/ is the website you can go directly if your looking to pick one up. Just remember that the Canopy is sold separately. And by the way, I also think that the angle of the landing gear is also affecting flight at low altitudes, Ill post another video here soon with my findings. As far as the longer ranger kits, you can add a booster to your remote, check this video out. ua-cam.com/video/hk-TYIrFQeE/v-deo.html I believe somewere in the video, it states who sells these kits. what's wrong with range on that remote ? Hey you can still use a spektrum radio controller with this thing. For video and stuff use the original remote. For long range use the spektrum ...that should work right ?
if you mean the aircraft won't go farther than 200 meters that's the geo fence which you can program easily with the PC program for Chroma.
+Tomi I have my Geo Fence set at 600 meters that's about 1968 feet of distance and Video feeds start to cut out about 150 meters of distance that's about 492 feet of distance flying about 250 feet high. When I loose video feed I just switch to Return Home.

They had me send in my controller, and found nothing wrong with it. At that point they offered me a 50% discount on a new one. .. That went swell. ...After me blowing a gasket, they agreed on getting me a refurbished unit as a replacement. is been a month since then and nothing, yesterday they contacted me and decided to send me a brand new unit because of the time frame. They stepped up and did the right thing finally, but I'm out a couple hundred bucks for the rakon kit.. It is what it is I guess. ..
Rick Flores Well, you're lucky. Your warranty wasn't valid anymore, because you moded the quad. This carbon/aluminum frame could block or interfere with signals, so...
this is my next quad. I have the 350 QX3,crashed it because of stupid fucking exploding props...got all the replacement parts and carbon fibre props. Next time I'm getting the rakon frame with canopy.
anyway,I will get Chroma in august ...I don't care for the robotic flying teapot a.k.a. THE PHANTOM 3,I want something that acts like a model aircraft and has some speed and reliable support. DJI is milking that insanely ugly design for way too long...it's a total dumpster fire.
Chroma looks great and it is faster than phantom 3. If it's as fast as my 350 QX3 (that one can go 62mph in agility mode ffs),or close to that,I'm totally sold.
