      It's meant to be a TOUGH challenge, and chatting while playing is part of the challenge. Distractions can happen even in top professional matches. He still stops as they're about to actually take shots.

    I just love this moment around 7:30. It's touching, because when I was growing up, this was Stephen in around 1989/90 who then effectively dominated a Decade of Snooker. He is now like a 'Father' to Stan 🙂 There's something magical and a distinction between youth and experience that binds well together when you have the right persons in collaboration.

      @@johnmccaughey2722because hendrys finish line was a ton, not 70 to win the frame. Takes the pressure off when you get close to 60, which is the most important time in a frame 60-70 points. He's always been one of my favourite players personally but he seems like one of the quieter, more low-key kind of players on the tour. So it'd be really fascinating for everybody I think, to get to know him a bit with one of your fantastic chats. Cheers 👍

    Good on Stephen Hendry to have a practice with Moody to help him improve. My observation, he's skillful enough for sure, with good temperament about him, but his decision making can be a lot better. You can't buy experience in this game, or else it would be sold in abundance. Which brings me to say, Why be committed to only one option of red when you can have more options?? It only takes an inch out on the intended red positional shot, and without any other option to go for, it means the cueball will need to travel, or possibly a skillful shot would be required to regain control of the cueball. Stan appears to be a young Sean Murphy in his character, stubbornness is good, but he should not feel too proud to ask what Stephen thinks at the time of decision making. Thanks and good luck.

      You've answered your own question

    • @C4rl0s-_-4R
      @C4rl0s-_-4R Місяць тому +1

      Soft tips are softer. Therefore squash under contact with the cueball. Generating more spin. But also easier to put accidental side on and so forth. They also wear down a lot faster. Hard tips have less cushion. More deflection. But the ability to strike the cue ball harder without as much effort. In pool you would tend to play with a soft tip. Snooker you would tend to play with a hard tip. Soft tips are not actually that soft when referred to in snooker. they are still pretty dense hard tips. If you can press the tip and deform it with your fingers or thumb it's too soft for snooker.

    It shows that IF YOU live in England, You have such a BIGGER chance of being a pro! I grew up in Northern Ireland with a guy called "Johnny", and Johnny was hitting 100+ breaks at the age of 16! he played a 16 year old Mark Allen from Antrim, in a final in 2000, and pretty much whoever won would get at a chance of being a pro in England!
    Mark Allen and his "scummy mates", taunted my friend Johnny before the final by calling him all names under the sun while he was out with me having a smoke. (this was the year 2000, in Londonderry, N.I, 2 years after Johnny lost hid father at aged 14 ). Johnny could hardly play a shot in the final with nerves after what Mark Allen and "friends" said to him!
    Mark Allen beat Johnny easily as Johnny's nerves were shot. Mark Allen went on from here to be "a pro", and Johnny lost all confidence in his snooker and has worked in a petrol station to date! Watching Stan Moody play here, reminds me of myself, playing Johnny all those years ago! Where I couldn't break build like Stan from awkward positions, Johnny could!
    Although, people know Stan Moody, but never heard of Johnny!! It seems if You want to have a chance, You either need to live in England, and who you know, or be from China these days!! The World of Snooker is not doing enough to get the best players! I know, personally myself, that Johnny could beat Mark Allen hands down without what happened that night pre game! I think many people already know however, how much of a D**khead Mark Allen is though, to understand the true story I am telling!
    EDIT: I myself, have never been a professional, I couldn't break build like Johnny.... but I bet given the chance 10 years ago, I could beat Mark Allen! I did have the honour of playing the late and great Paul Hunter, and also played the late and "BEST" (in my opinion) Alex Higgins and beat him, in an exhibition match, but nobody has never heard of me! The scouting in Northern Ireland is a shambles.... yet one of the best players who ever lifted a cue came from Northern Ireland, and in no way do I mean Dennis Taylor! lol

      You can literally pay to enter Q school now. So no matter who you care or where you're from, if you're confident enough that you're at that level, you simply have to back yourself at Q school. Everything was race based, ger a grip of yourself, regularly making 100 breaks happens in clubs all over, put the eyes and pressure on and they crumble, snooker is about more than just putting balls in your home comforts.
