Enjoy watching all your videos . I’m sure you know okeechobee as well as anyone that fished that place but I would at least have too put one unit on console for navigation in rain, bad weather, fog etc or early or late days just for some extra safety . Just something too think about . Keep up the videos and the fishing reports !!
If we spent half the time we do bitching about ffs and put it towards getting them to slow the spraying down we probably would have some grass to fish....
the absolute worst thing for the lakes isn't any kind of electronics The worst thing for the lakes was covid. The amount of pressure that put on the fish isn't even comprehendible The second worst thing is spraying
Dawson you nailed it. I went to Lake Toho this Spring on a Tuesday and it was covered up with anglers. I asked someone and he said everyone works from home when they want to.....I hate it. I hope they will have to return to their offices but I'm skeptical that will ever happen...
It hasnt changed much in most areas in South Louisiana, the shallow swamps/marsh. There are certain areas I'd love to "spotlight", but at the end of the day i need to beat the ish out of the TM, so having a 2k transducer is not a good idea. Fishing should somewhat be aesthetically pleasing to a degree. If i could fly cast handmade poppers underneath cypress trees i would, just seems like a mess. Those old books "fly rodding for bass", wading shallows is what ive always love. Tournament fishing is not fishing at its core, its just competition and sponsorships. no ffs for me.
Each to their own man. I’m not knocking it I’m just choosing not to use it. You pretty much summed it up with a statement you said on this video. If you’re using FFS, you ain’t casting until you see the fish. That sums it up for me. I don’t go fishing to stare at a screen 90% of the time then cast 10% of the time. It really takes away the element of surprise, establishing a pattern, and not knowing what’s on the other side. I’ve been fishing since the 80’s and I’ve always been hooked on the element of surprise, not knowing what’s gonna happen on the next cast. I hope the Wietahas and Hoinigs win another 100 tournaments using FFS. I’ll be cheering for them every time they are out there. Just my choice not to go that route.
I am with you, Cody. I could care less about FFS "NOW". But back when i was in our small club, i felt as though it did give those individuals an advantage.
I dont necessarily think most fisherman think FFs is easy. I think its more b/c its a tool that has taken away from why the sport was originated. Can’t imagine Ray Scott wanting competitive fishing to be drop your trolling motor & look at a screen. Not sure “Bass Fishing” should be known for spinning rods & minnows, but thats where its headed.
I’m so tired of hearing about it. I think there should be two organizations. One with it. One without it. Each organization has a professional level, open or Toyota type tier, and BFL or ABA level and you can pick what you want to fish
I was a fisheries biologist and I am doubtful you could " clean out a lake" of crappie. I never studied "perch" extensively so I won't comment on them. Crappie can produce millions of fry. Water quality, weather during spawn, water level consistency, grass beds have much more to do with crappie numbers than anything fisherman can do. I would be more than happy to do a study but it would take a tremendous amount of money and effort. It would have to be on a rather large body of water to be legitimate....
I’m against this ffs in professional tournaments. How much more of an advantage do these guys need? They have the fastest boats, the best fishing gear, the lastest lures and tackle. They already have the best sonar systems as well. This is called fishing for a reason.I find the biggest pleasure when i find bass with my basic sonar and i got them to bite without seeing them.
If a tournament circuit bans FFS, they will lose young anglers and the future of the sport. What's next? Ban spot lock, trolling motors, Senkos....where would it stop?
Ffs has made bass fishing one dimensional. Not good for fans. I have it, I use it, I'm decent at it you are forced to use it if you want to compete on most lakes
I'm not fun of it of the ffs people think you to old or can afford it that stupid I do good with out it I love fishing I'm fishing Potomac River I do with out electronic most of this guys take the unit from them I don't think so they can fish I promise 💯
I guess you have never been in a bass bed fishing tournament in the Spring. They are a huge advantage. Why do you think virtually every bass boat has not one but two of them..... especially in Florida ... I see someone who can't afford them say they are an unfair advantage and should be banned, just like FFS.... Slippery slope is the point. If FFS was $2,500 for the usual 4 monitor set up, there would be half the bitching.... .

At the end of the day, bag limits are still in place and will protect the resource. I don’t see the need for any heartburn over the subject.
I think FFS is probably worse for Crappie and Perch. I know people are cleaning out all the Crappie in Chaumont Bay with FFS.

I think it’s best presented in the 1 hour shows
