Mustad has a new Finesse flip hook Alpha series. I would try their standard wire first. Same thickness but has slick grey coating might give you best hook ups and strength.
Mustad makes a great straight shank flipping hook and I love the VMC Redline Heavy Duty flipping hook it’s thin diameter coated sharp and strong as hell. It’s got a flouro bait keeper. Never bent this hook out its awesome. I also like flipping a ringed EWG but YMMV
I just want you to know for what it's worth that I just recently discovered your channel and I find myself watching one video after another after another. The information you pass on Seems very Generous, especially coming from someone who makes a living Using the very techniques that you share... I have. Come to discover that when you pass on that information, I know I can trust what You are telling us Because some of those things I already employ and have been doing so for some time and work very well For me so if you pass something on that I didn't consider or have never thought of I immediately put it in my arsenal and get out there and give it a try.. I just wanted you to know how much it is appreciated, And you can count me among your followers ❤❤Who will be out here watching everything you put out.. Very very cool. Maybe at some point I'll get the chance to come down And book a day with you... Pick your brain sometimes, keep my mouth shut the rest of the time, Learn a few things, And catch a few Giants... Mike
Berkley fusion19 flipping hook gomakatsu g finesse I've also been playing with a braid to leader more bites with leader a little more hook setting power but obviously not the best in heavy cover more the sparse cover that you mentioned I also like a smoother braid in this area
I’m moving to okeechobee next week and am looking forward to learning the lake and your channel has helped a ton! I do have maybe a dumb question though, I saltwater fished my whole life and used nothing but spinning rod and reels, can I ask why on casting rod/reel combos the reel handle is on the opposite side as spinning reels? And can they be flipped around or do you have to buy a left handed casting reel to make fishing them more comfortable to someone who has always reeled with their left hand and worked the rod with their right hand?
As a right handed person I only use left hand retrieve baitcasters. makes much more sense mechanically and is so much smoother/efficient than all the hand switching nonsense people put themselves through. Handles can not switch sides like spinning reels, however there's a left hand retrieve option for just about every reel on the market, I would definitely recommend to go with one. I understand when people with muscle memory from decades of using the (wrong) retrieves stick with it, but for new people getting in, and especially since you already have the muscle memory from spinning reels it would be crime to recommend you anything other than a left hand retrieve haha
@ thank you for the info I appreciate it! I’ve used open face reels for bottom fishing offshore and it always felt so wrong to fight the fish with my left and reel with my right lol it’s very awkward. I’ll definitely look into the left hand options on my first casting set up!
Switched to baitcasting after fishing Lake O 7 years ago and have all my reels left-handed retrieve models. I've noticed some of the younger torny guys going that route also, it's more natural instead of switching the rod from one hand to the other.
That pen in the wrist/palm is a great idea!
Gamakatsu Martens G-Finesse Heavy Cover hook
Yup my favorite hook !!
The Decoy Flippin straight worm #144 hook is awesome. A little longer shank and lighter wire. Perfect for flipping around light texas rigs.
Great tips. Thank you for taking the time.

Owner jungle flipping hook clip the round part off the keeper. That keeps it from snagging grass and still holds the bait well.
The Gamakatsu standard round bend worm hook is hard to beat. They seem a bit light but I have great results with them.
Very close to what I use everywhere for bass. 4-5 gamagatsu, 6 inch yum watermelon bullet sinker. Right on. I've caught some big uns
4 ot MUSTAD grip pin strank hook.. all I use.

Just keep using your spinning gear

Hayabusa makes the best medium-wire EWG in the market. WRM956. That’s what I flip stick baits with.
FYI.. Was using voice to text... Don't know where those hearts came from...lol!!
