I'm always interested history, especially on companies that no longer exist. I looked up "BANTLY OIL CO" name on door, I only found one thing relating to this which was a Vintage Zippo Lighter from the 1940s-1950s era. Its a rare lighter with Vintage Oil Rig on front with companies name Bantly Oil Co INc. This company no longer exist or all rights were possibly giving to another company and most likely name was change? Either way you should check that lighter.
I just saw your comment after commenting, wondering about the history of this company. I wonder if there is any way of searching historical company/business registrations locally? The record keeping/registration processes may not have been quite so involved in that era though.
I checked it out as well and saw that lighter, that was pretty neat. This particular oil company was probably just a small family-owned Local Company at some point. There may be some info in the reference section at the local library, but even that is iffy sometimes.
Thanks, I'm still doing okay. Still working, but just not getting out as much currently because of everything going on. Hopefully we will get through this soon and I can start collaborating with more friends again
You are correct. Trucks did not come with turn signals from the factory. You could have them dealer installed however, as an option/extra. Turn signals were not mandated on vehicles until 1953.
The truck really isn't in bad shape at all, most of it is still there. Especially for an old Connecticut truck, these things are usually rodded Beyond being saved. Probably spent most of it's life off the road and on the farm, that just maybe what saved it
That truck is a beauty. I'd like to have it to restore. I love it. Thanks for sharing! Wow! Lots of bugs! Stay well, my friend. Much love to you and your family.
Agreed - I'd love to be able to restore and then drive old cars/trucks such as this. They have so much more character than modern vehicles (a lot worse fuel economy though unfortunately 🤣)
I believe that one would be an early 40's International k-5, the International KB came out in 1947 and had stainless steel pieces on the grill that got wider and spread out to the front fenders toward the bottom. mine is a 1949 International KB-1.
Real nice truck,Rich! Those bugs were really nasty, brother! LOL! It is so cool that, this truck is still around,in the woods! Stay safe and take care, brother! I hope that you and you family, stay well,in this epidemic nightmare! Much love, brother! God bless!☺❤
That's an awesome rare find there. My great grandpa had a truck kind of like that a long time ago. Yeah unfortunately the annoying bugs are starting too come back. The bees will be chasing me soon 😀
Lovely old truck ,would love to drive around in a old truck like that .built with style not like to todays crap .yep still in good condition good for a restore Rich?
An awesome find - as you said, imagine the stories that old truck could tell! The company name - is it “Bancy Oil Company”? Does anyone watching this know anything about that company & it’s history? With it having been last registered in 1996, I wonder if a history of ownership could be tracked down? With most abandoned vehicles of course, we don't get such clues unfortunately. I imagine older cars didn’t have the identifying engine, chassis etc numbers that might help track down prior owners or other history about the vehicle (I am not knowledgeable about the history of car manufacturing, so don't know when this type of thing started...)
Although they didn't standardize the VIN system until the early 1980s, older vehicles still had VIN numbers, just not as specific. As for the company, it probably was just a local oil company that has long gone out, now the truck sits on the backside of an Old Farm. They may have bought it and used it as a farm truck for a few years, and then just parked it.
Nice find. Love old trucks. How solid did the body seem? I thought you'd poke it to see if she was completely rotted through. Would have liked to see under the hood. Nice find as your channel name implies a "rich discovery" (smile). Have a fine week. BTW, the bugs have started to hatch here as well. Little vampire blood suckers. 🧛♂️🦟
This truck really didn't look that bad at all, especially for an old Connecticut truck. I would have dug around a little more, but it was on the edge of some Farm property. I didn't really want to get too involved just in case
What a beautiful truck! Those guages were in surprisingly good shape. Would be amazing to see it back on the road with its rusted patina. I found a truck similar, not as old tho. I'll put the link below. Keep up the good work! ua-cam.com/video/e1ETczE6L6o/v-deo.html
I was really surprised to see this thing in reasonably decent shape myself. Usually all the windows and glass a broken out of these things, this one seems to have weathered the years fairly good. I'm going to go over to my channel and check out that video in a few
Wow love it beautiful my ? Is why is it just sitting there rotting away why isn’t someone hauling it out of there restoring it ? Such a shame Old school Sure beats the hell out of new school cars
My neighbor is just finishing up a 1950s International Truck Rat Rod.
He did an excellent job on it
That's awesome!!
pretty good condition for being 80 years old and sitting outside ! Thanks for the share, Rich
Especially for Connecticut truck. This thing really is not that bad

Nice truck! Man those bugs were vicious.
Thanks man, and I definitely did not expect that many bugs to be out this soon LOL

Next prostreet truck project? Looks solid enough to make it happen

I always wonder why people don't sell stuff like that.
Me too. This one seems to have a lot of good metal left on it as well. We have definitely saved worse than this

Its a 1940-1945 international because there would be extra grill looking metal coming off the grill
Awesome, thank you for that information.
I'm good with stuff like that on regular Passenger cars, but I really don't know International that much.
@@richdiscoveriesno problem thank you for replying and for the video

1941-1949 . My Dad had a 49 KB3. I think that one is a KB5 .
Sad to see it abandoned, you should make it your quarantine project lol. Great Video!
I like this truck.
with the unusually warm winter we had im almost counting on the bugs to be bad this summer :-/
I'm thinking you're right on that one my friend, and they seem to have started already
That's an awesome rare find there. My great grandpa had a truck kind of like that a long time ago. Yeah unfortunately the annoying bugs are starting too come back. The bees will be chasing me soon 😀

Yeah this thing is beautiful, and really not in that bad of condition considering. I've definitely found much worse than this over the years
