Rob is the man, he has passion for the hobby, the sports, and making sure everyone has a affordable card. This guy is just money first, passion dead last and you tell just by what he says he could careless to try to sustain this hobby for the young folks.
Great interview and video buddy. Jeff has done alot for the hobby as you have. Great to see him give credit to the other shops that helped influence his inspiration for Cards HQ and not take 100% credit. That is the biggest thing from the video I was impressed with. Yes, the store is amazing, but staying humble is what will make it a huge success in my opinion!
While I was watching this the first time I was thinking man I wish I had a shop like that in my area, then at the end you said Atlanta. I was shocked, I just stopped there tonight. The store is awesome, I highly recommend checking it out. I'm newer to collecting sports cards but I found a cool Michael Jordan card and some Pokemon stuff. It was really cool to see everything.
More behind the scene reveals with shop owners and collectors definitely adds to the story for those involved and those who watch. I am curious if they plan to add other items such as books and collectibles that relate to the hobby. Geoff Wilson's book on sports cards collecting and investing comes out in just two months yet I'm surprised I haven't seen him feature it in his video on his own store, unless I missed it. This type of content would definitely help educate the novice collector or investor. Plenty of seating to buy in, relax and read thru it while at the store.
What’s wild is anyone with a shop knows you have to wait a year to get a Topps account, not a Topps breakers account but a direct Topps hobby shop account… wild how he seems to have just bypassed this
It's GREAT promotion for Topps and of course Fanatics now that Fanatics owns the Topps company. This is a huge store with plenty of room for Fanatics to sell whatever they want. Not to mention all the eyes Topps will get via Sports Card Investor promotions on his UA-cam channels, etc. Don't be surprised if you see Fanatics/Topps sponsoring trade nights, paying athletes to come into the shop and sign. There's plenty that ALL the card companies can do with Geoff and all this space. This is gold for Fanatics. No question this store was getting basically whatever it wants. And I'm sure the price of cases and boxes of this stuff was just right for Jeff and his crew to buy as much as they possibly could. Open a brand-new, modernized 4 million dollar card store and Topps will come running to you as well. I only wish there was a store around like this when I grew up collecting and being a kid dealer in the 80s. Nothing wrong with this. It's called advertising and promotion and Fanatics would be stupid not to supply Geoff's store with tons of product. Wouldn't matter if it was Geoff or whomever. The people who run Fanatics aren't stupid. Also, while it might take a year/2 years, not sure exactly. But this store will make a killing. And don't be surprised if he decides to produce off-shoot stores in other cities under the CardsHQ name and branch out. Kinda like Roadshows started to do in last couple years but this is a much bigger store. We'll see. But Geoff, like him or not, is not a dumb guy and he's made a lot of money. He has a roadmap of what he wants to do and its most likely not stopping at a store in Georgia.
I see your point but it's not that wild. He has a large following on UA-cam...he's at all of the major card shows and is known very well through the whole trading card community. The old phrase it's not what you know, but who you know is still relevant today. It makes good business sense for Topps to expedite this for Geoff.
Great video Mojo. I was able to go to Cards HQ on their grand opening. Great prices and a great setup. It’s great for the hobby to have these kinds of stores. If you just collect, then you will find great cards. If you want to flip, you can find cards that still “has some meat on the bone” to turn a profit.
Hi Jay, love the content! I was wondering if you were going to be in Dallas in March for the show? It’s my first Dallas show and your are such an inspiration to me! Keep up the good work!!
Geoff is an awesome leader. He attracts the right people and simply makes things happen! Love him or hate him, he created the highest quality content and now built the coolest card shop in the country. His advantage over guys like Ryan and Rob is his reach into the finance and tech industry. Also, his card shop tours were all intentional! He picked out the best things from each shop and implemented them in his shop! Influencers who flip cards and make contents are cool. I think what’s cooler for kids to be inspired by is guys like Geoff. His business acumen combined with his passion for cards was a perfect storm 👍
" He picked out the best things from each shop and implemented them in his shop! " As a professional in retail with 30 years of experience in the fortune 100 world of retail, this shop is poorly designed for the actual task of retail. Not enough shelf space to display enough merch to sell enough to pay the bills. Really good video. Very good questions. I also appreciate how Jeff did not take 100% credit for a lot of the ideas in the shop and gave credit where credit is due to the other shops around that provided inspiration

In your breaking room you should have a tv on the wall streaming the break in the store so people can watch the breaks Many watch breaks on utube and if you had reaction of big breaks in the store by customers it may get more wanting to get into breaks
How do they keep people from stealing raw cards? Good to see a "Supplies" section. The problem with vertical is you have to get on your knees to view them.
