This is the last editorial I am making to sum up the knowledge I've gained through this last year. Now on Wednesday I am finally flying to US to start my intensive MMA and BJJ training so much more live footage and interviews are to come. Very excited about that and I'll see you all soon.
totally on point, one of the few videos I completely agree with, nice work on this one it also helps show why being proficient in footwork and positioning is such a huge part of doing well in sparring or self defence
Have you ever read Miyamoto Musashi's work The Book of Five Rings? Musashi was a legendary swordsman of 16th-17th c. Japan. It's a good read that I think every serious martial artist should read. He describes different fight strategies, many of which you addressed in this video like herding your opponent to a lesser disadvantage for them, greater advantage for you and talks about technical fight dynamics and how you can even apply such philosophies to how you lead your life. Sometimes he's credited with putting into words the path of bushido, especially with his work The Dokkodo, or Way of Walking Alone. Good luck in your journey.

There was a scene in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood that stuck with me ever since. Ezio was chasing an enemy with comrades and he said "Why are you running you coward!?" And he said "Smart men never stay and fight" That was insightful due to after catching up with him, we beat the shit out of him.
Yet, you can also just defeat multiple opponents. You can. Martial Arts is about being able to defend yourself in more than the simpliest Situation. You can win.
Not really. What the movies got right is mobility and instinct but what they never address is that: if you want to win you have to hit to kill. You don't have to have overwhelming force, but you have to have fear and death on your side. These are the reasons why animals are so dangerous or why men that go to war are traumatized or flee from the enemy.
John wick is actually somewhat realistic. although some of them are unrealistic, most of them are actually real. You just gotta distinguish between them.
Non sense!: -years wasted in academy instead of watching martial arts movies that are really instructives. Or - Years wasted in watching movies instead of studying in academy. ?!?!? Your sentence means both...
RUN! If can’t run, knife, if can’t knife, improv weapons, if can’t improv, fight dirty, if can’t fight dirty, what long series of bad decisions got you here!!!??
@Alambusha Shukla speaking as a small guy who had lots of bullies growing up, but didn't have those bullies after he learned ITF Taekwondo and started fighting back, no, I wouldn't WANT to be in a position with multiple people attacking me. BUT I studied a real system of martial arts, not "combat sports", so when multiple people DID attack me, because they were BULLIES, I knew how to win against them. You can't wrestle multiple people on the ground, so of course the UFC/combat sports people think you can't defend yourself in such a situation. Study a real martial art -- for self defense, not competition -- and you will learn how to do it.
The best martial arts for self defense is HEMA, especially if you carry your weapon with you. Yes it is not very easy to fit your sword/weapon of your choice with you at all time, but having a weapon with a longer reach and knowing how to utilise it is key in a real situation (unless the opponent has a gun and is pointing you even before you can take out your weapon, but nothing can help you except cooperate if someone got a gun). Plus weapons, especially slashing weapons, carry a big intimidating factor with them and thus just drawing your weapon could put an end to the situation before it could escalate any further. It is still best to avoid conflict at all costs because it is always risky, but having a close quarter weapon and having trained to use it is probably your best bet if you ever get into a sticky situation
Chuck Norris put it very well: You can fight a person, if you're good, you can fight two people. But if 3 or more people want to kick your ass, then your ass is kicked.
But what about all the youtube comments I just read under the video that mentioned this video is garbage and they personally have won a fight all alone against 5,000 Nazi troopers in big ass tanks with only their fists without even getting scratched, huh?
When I used to practice kick boxing. The technique against multiple attackers was to get away as fast as possible. If you were surrounded, try to make a hole thru the weakest link and get the hell out. If you can't, try to used one of the attackers as human shield against the others, but always try to get out as soon as you can. And, definitely, use anything you can get as a weapon. If you're figthing for your life, anything goes...
Note: in self defense law multiple attackers is considered sufficient disparity in force to justify a lethal response. Best martial art for multiple opponents is gunfighting.
That's the same strategy that I learned in Hapkido, we used to practice every month, and there was always blood in the practice, because the defender were so stressed that he couldn't take care of his punches and kickings...
in the occasion I had to fight off 3 robbers I just pulled my belt knife and stabbed one. they picked on Lee's advice very fast. police was faster... less than 20 minutes later they were all lined up near a few armed man.
Szarekh the Silent yes. The video does make sense in saying a melee weapon would work best to stave off any would be attackers. However best results is run and regroup your situation if they give chase
As someone who ended up on the wrong end of an 8 vs 1 I tell you this: you can't "win" the fight but you can deal and tank enough damages to make them reconsider. Cost me an orbital bone and some nasty cuts but they eventually gave up when two of them were lying unconscious on the ground and I was still swinging and blasting elbows or knees at every man willing to get close. Martial arts saved my life that night.
Did they use bats or any objects and is ur orbital bone recovered, did u target certain spots when u were hiting them and also what did u do to get into this situation?
Been in fights with multiple opponents growing up. You learn to hit hard, quick and move. It's possible to overcome multiple opponents but don't expect to come out untouched.
My grandfather once offhandidly told me that when he was young he once fought off 6 dudes. I never believed him. About a year before he died I was visiting my great uncle, brother of his, and he told me my grandfather was the best boxer in his city when he was young, and that it was decided that he should quit boxing and pursue a more 'decent' lifestyle after some dudes ambushed and shot him. He showed me pictures of my grandfather in the ring, that was a surprise for me, I had never heard about that side of my grandfather in my then 25 years of life. I asked my grandfather about it. He told me that it was true about the short boxing career he had but nothing else. 6 months later my grandfather was battling cancer and it was my turn to take care of him for the night. So he and I talked for hours and he told me the complete story about his youth, early boxing career, and the troubles he faced. Including the time he fough off 6 dudes. He told me that the secret was to enrage yourself and be like a tiger. To hit really fast and move really fast. After he fought off those dudes they came back the next day and shot him in the chest. But he survived. He even showed me the bullet wound and the bullet. Yes, he still had the bullet inside of him. It was a round small ball you could feel if you pushed your fingers to the left side of his chest. So suddently the story became real for me and totally believable. So all in all , this video and the advices it gives, reminds me alot of what my grandfather told me and gives a more detailed explanation of what he meant about ''being like a tiger'.
This is also something that also speaks about the conduct of professional martial artists. It's an unspoken rule/advice to not start fights with people even if you can win. Because people are nasty and like to hold grudges. You never know when that one or two chuckleheads you put to the ground will one day come from a street corner with a crowbar to your skull.
@@dgbd9030 many people survived gunshots, and is not that weird that medics have to lesve things inside because they're in dangerous places. My father had a little piece of glass under his skin for like 10 years now that you can touch through his skin, the medics didn't want to remove it because it's close to a nerve and it's dangerous
@@goddamndoor ... i know human's can survive gun shots my father was a battle soldier in Israel he have a lot of scars on him. i talked about the cancer. (btw my father had a cancer in the blood when I was 4 or 5)
I was jumped by multiple opponents when I was younger. I had experience with martial arts and street fighting and I can say with 100% confidence... that I got my ass beat and am probably lucky I'm not dead.
This seems to be the only real comment here. I have no doubt that people have done this but reading the comments makes me laugh. It's funny how many Steven Seagals' watched this video. Btw, I've been jumped too. Was completely drunk and the first punch, which came from my side, sent me to the ground. The rest started kicking me. I would like to claim that maybe if I were not drunk and ready I might have had a chance with 1 or 2, but not 5-6. I was lucky someone stepped in and stopped the fight as they were probably going to kill me. Also, people who jump others tend to be cowards, but they will be as vicious as possible with their friends around.
@@digitalintent My situation is gonna some like movie shit but we all know how dumb young middle and high schoolers are. It was this stupid little turf war bs that our towns used to engage in since long before I was even of born and inadvertantly got sucked into for living on this side of the highway vs that side of the highway. I got cornered in a walk way and was forced up against the wall with multiple people kicking and punching at me. I maybe got one good unconfirmed punch in right before but there was absolutely nothing I could do but curl up in fetal position facing the wall and try to guard my chest and head as I got stomped out. After that they left. Lucky I was just left with only bruises on my back and legs. I have a few friends who faced similar attacks that actually got bones broken and sent them to the hospital. I can say though, as far as I heard, it was never people from my pen town to go into their town to wreak havoc. There was nothing to do in their town as they were a dry township so they would cross that bridge over the highway and squat somewhere aggressively. Granted my incident was in their "territory" but I shouldn't be getting jumped for just going to Dunkin Donuts. Suffice to say, I would highly not recommend getting into a fight like this at all and especially out numbered is even more of a no no.
Digital Intent you are an idiot if you think you can‘t fight 1vs2 or 1v3. You have been to the fitness gym to many times. People on the streets learn to foght aggressivly and hit fast and powerful in the neck or in the chin. No fucking jumping around like a girl and trying to do low kicks and all that girly shit. 3v1 I have fought for my life and I won at the end with many bruises. Once you truly learn how to fuck someone up in the streets you can fuck up 2-3 people the thing is you won‘t learn it from mix martial arts. You gotta punch them all in the neck and in the chin fast because they think you are going to jump around or they are going to manhandle you. You gotta be quick and powerful neck hits + chin hits and you win. No fucking gut hits and low kicks and all this shit. Quick + Powerful street style is the only way to win. I have been there and I have seen that shit I have known a dude he could fight 3 people easily been to prison over 22 years. Fought in there almost everyday with murderes, rapists, pedophiles, scammers, boxers. That shit comes from street experience no gym is going to show you since it‘s not their style to fight off 2-3 opponents
I got jumped by at least 7 people crowding me at a party in a corner. I can handle 1 or 2, not 7. I never threw a punch bc I knew it wouldn't end good against those numbers. I regret not being more aggressive before the numbers grew. Would've saved me a broken jaw.
That sentence reminded me of Ninja Gaiden. Yes, you can fight multiple opponents at once. But you better block, evade and jump around unpredictably as much as possible or they'll stuff so many explosive shurikens in your butt you look like a hedgehog.
The point he talks about at 3 minutes is exactly what my Wing Chun sifu taught us for grade 10. Using the person for shield so the others cant get to you easily and ALWAYS be able to see everyone. Never have your back to anyone, and try to move for the exit
The term "to use martial arts only as a defense" as you have mentioned has been misintrepated. What it actually means is that you must not use your martial arts skill to bully or provoke or disturb someone or commit crimes like extortion, robbery, beat up your spouse etc. It does not mean that you must not attack when your life is being threatened. So the term is meant to be metaphorical, not literal. Thank you.
Rurouni Kenshin made the same point in one of its episodes: Run, so the fastest opponent leaves the rest behind, then quickly deal with that one. Rinse and repeat.
While this works in theory, it wouldn't actually work in practice. You, and your fast opponent would have to be so much faster than the rest of your opponents, that you'd literally have to be sprinting for an extended period of time to make enough distance between the rest of the pack. That would also mean that after that first person, everyone else is also relatively similar in speed, so you'd have a mob on your heels. Also how many times do you think you can actually sprint between locations, and then still have enough energy left over to really fight it out with someone? Then you're just gonna do it again? The only way this has any chance of working is if you have a weapon - a force multiplier. If you don't, then you're just going to die tired.
S1 R1 Thats why Kenshin didn’t want Yahiko to even engage- Kenshi fought in war and still has to be fit to not die, he’s been fighting multiple people at once for the better part of 13-14 years that’s longer than Yahiko had been alive
When you're a healthy adult and your multiple attackers are kindergarten kids, or maybe a group of elders with stroke, you will stand victorious with your unarmed fighting.
I was looking for this comment. It is actually possible. I’ve fought multiple people several times in my life. However none of them were skilled fighters. I can’t imagine having multiple skilled trained fighters coming at me. Don’t think I could handle that
@@MarcusGreen-y7g My coach used to made me do that when I was preparing for a competition. He made me stand in the middle of the gym and would asign numbers to others advanced partners. He then would shout a number and that person started fighting with me, but each minute he would either change the number so my oponent was replaced or send a new fighter against me. I ended up concluding that 2 was the maximum number I could defeat, and 3 the maximum number I could handle. The only strategy that worked of all the ones I tried was a fast offensive with high mobility. However, when I faced more than 3 all my scapes and swerves were blocked by someone and I couldn't avoid end up surrounded in a closed space. More than 3 proved to be overwhelming, at least for me.
I'm always a little sceptical when people say to beat multiple attackers you need to take them out quick by hitting the throat, groin, etc. These targets are generally hard enough to hit in a one on one fight and having additional opponents typically limits your options (or at least it does in the re-enactment battles I've participated in) and I'm bold enough to suggest that if you can't land an attack one on one you're going to struggle to land that attack against multiple opponents.
The tip of the day is to just hit the guy with whatever technique you know without specifically targeting areas. The point is to get the guy to stop for a moment for you to run.
It's actually better to hit the liver, knee or temple. You want to incapacitate your opponent not cause them pain. The throat, nose an groin can work but it is not guaranteed. Breaking their knee or hitting the liver will cause them to collapse regardless of drugs or will power.
@@tylerrobbins8311 these spots is hard to target when you are literally being chased by 5 guys or more! No time to even chose where to hit so why bother?
I can only speak for myself but I think it's almost impossible to deal with multiple attackers. I have a lot of Martial arts training, I am a kickboxing coach and I used to own an MMA gym. Years ago when I was much younger and stronger than I am now at 55 years old, I was confronted by three drunk assholes while leaving a sports bar, I was with my wife and I had no illusions of my chances against 3 guys so I tried to walk away and as I did one of them tried to hit me so I hit him, hard and knocked him out, at that point the other 2 beat the hell out of me and the third guy I knocked out woke up pissed off and joined in. I tried to fight back and protect my wife who was trying to help me but was only getting in the way. When the police came there were 3 of them and one of me so the cop arrested me, but he saw through their bullshit and drove around the corner and let me go, telling me to go straight to the hospital. I got 12 stitches over my right eye and was bad bruised up for about 10 days but I feel lucky I did not get brain damage. No martial art can prepare you for this kind of situation, but my training did help me with movement and slipping punches and I knew not to go down or it would have been much worse. My advise is to avoid these situations at all cost, a bruised ego is much better than brain damage, just walk away.
why does this not have more upvotes? maybe not many people understand that this is a realistic depiction of what happens instead of a movie outcome Ps did your wife get hit at all in the encounter?
If the police come and they have 3 people that say you started it, and your saying they started it, the police believe the 3, not the one. The officer was a nice guy and he could tell what happened so he put me in the car, told my wife to follow him and we went around the corner and he let me go with my wife, I was beaten up pretty badly and needed to go to the hospital.
My wife got pushed and I tried my best to get her to stay back, I don't think she got hit to their credit, but they worked me over pretty good, I had to go to the emergency room, I was so bad that they took me straight in so I did not have to wait at all. It was not a pleasant experience at all, I would not have fought if the first guy did not swing at me but he did so I reacted and I paid the price. I would advise just waking away, even if your pride is bruised, they cracked my jaw too and to this day it hurts if I go to the dentist I can't hold it open for very long before I have to close it.
-joediffy its not almost impossible. others have done it, even without training. there are youtube videos of people surviving said encounters and even winning them. its extremely difficult to do and if you have 0 training in that area (as most martial arts dont train realistic multiple attackers) then yea it is impossible. but training in that area, as well as carrying weapons on you really makes a huge difference in survivability. most people arent going to want to jump you after you shot their friend in the head.
@@nuclearwaste2062 as i said in my comment, I can only speak for myself, but i would be willing to bet that 95 out of 100 time when one person has to face 3 attackers, the single guy would loose. Has it ever happened to you? I had no weapon, I only had my hands and feet and i thought i did as well as could be expected because they swarmed me all at the same time, it was not like a movie, they did not come at me one at a time. Im sure there are people like a pro MMA fighter or pro boxer that could have won, i had been training for years at that point but i was not a pro fighter. Remember that only 4 to 5 percent of the population train, so most will loose.
as a Karaté Black belt, it's 100% true, just rewatch the "Ip Man 10 vs 1 scene", and look the Japeneses one by one, they are lining up and are terribly slow/bad
I'm a brown belt, and yeah, it's nigh impossible. Maybe you could beat two or three opponents if they have no prior fighting experience or didn't train martial arts. Four guys (or even 3) of your age even without skill are too much.
Retarded Duck, I personally have taken out about 30-40 enemies alone at once. Its not impossible but you need have some real skill to pull it off. Hoping to have the same dream tonight.
Right, like even video evidence of some crazy ppl who are drunk or on drugs and fending off multiple police officers, or at least, successfully resisting arrest from more than one officer
It really depends on the attackers and the situation. Sometimes the attackers just don't have that will power to fight and when they start getting hit they back off. But if a crowd of three people or more are determined they can over come anyone that isn't Deontay wilder.
4 is feasible at once. Honestly their can be a lot more than 4, It really depends on a lot of factors: how well you can isolate each individual attacker, if you’re able to limit how many are coming at you at once (although not entirely realistic; similar to the hallway seen in old boy), how much pain tolerance the individuals involved have, relative skill of the attackers vs the one they’re attacking; and nobody likes to admit this but honestly most importantly, the relative size, strength, and athleticism of the person who’s being attacked vs the attackers. If you’re attacking someone who’s big and strong it’s a lot harder to hurt them and theoretically their attacks will do more damage, nobody wants to admit that point.
It's amazing to see your intellectual evolution over time. It's rare to meet someone who's honest about their mistakes and genuinely interested in improving themselves, even at the cost of their egos. Seeing so many proponents of fake and untested martial arts who're simply ideologically unbending, even in the face of evidence, you truly are a rare bird. You have my respect for that.
Indeed. I feel like the reason there are some many fake martial artists is that they sunk years into their life into a martial art before the 90s exposed it as ineffective. Human nature is such that most people double down on their mistake and keep pretending nothing has changed. People who adjust to the facts are surprisingly rare.
I want to rewatch The Transporter now: most of the fights i remember from it seemed to follow a "make advantage of your environment" Statham fights people in narrow places and when he can't he dipped himself in motor oil to not get grabbed
The key to survive a fight with multiple attackers is hit and run tactics. That's the closest you get. Pacing your opponent so that you only have to face one at a time and blocking. Never let yourslef be surrounded. And this is almost impossible to do if you fight against other fighters. Fighing multiple attackers who only rely on numbers because they don't know how to fight is very much possible. Or am I just so very lucky to witness it multiple times now. Experience is a key factor to most martial arts arguments. Most haven't experienced their martial arts working so they think it's impossible or just not good.
Your average user same as mutually assured destruction. When everyone has nukes but you, you’re no longer sitting at the table to play. As they say, don’t bring a knife to a gun fight.
@Your average user Fair point but if you pulled your gun first you got a chance to shoot them before they even aim at you though that depends on many things like what gun you got, how many people there are and your distance between the attackers
Great video, I think all of your points are spot on! I do think one thing you missed is that a master at Judo throws can put someone on the ground very hard in less than four seconds. That would work with similar effectiveness as a punch (although not quite as fast and one would have to be very careful to not expose themselves). The other technique that might be effective against multiple attackers is put one in a choke hold and hold him as a shield. Threaten to kill him if the group does not yield. I think the effectiveness will really depend on who the attackers are and what mood they are in.
The difficulty with ending a streetfight early (hitting quickly and hard before the fight really begins) is that even if you are being threatened but you strike first, even if it is a larger opponent , you could be charged with aggression, when your only intent was self-preservation. In a streetfight, it takes a lot of foresight and judgment that you can’t really train for.
Best way to beat multiple attackers: don’t let them know you can perform any kind of martial arts. Most bullies don’t know how to fight as it is, so surprise the hell out of them. 😁
Not true. This is like not letting someone know you have a gun. Best way to fight multiple attackers is to not fight multiple attacker. Where I went to school, that idea that most bullies don't actually know how to fight is false, most people knew how to fight, at least the basics was a given. With multiple people if they don't think you can fight, they are probably going to engage and at that point they are all attacking you. On the opposite spectrum, letting your attackers know that you're not only able to fight but you're willing to really hurt someone (breaking bones, gauging eyes, slamming heads against a wall) has the potential to deter conflict. People fight in groups for the security of having someone at their back so there's less risk of getting hurt that bad. If you can make any of them believe that there's a serious chance that they can really get hurt they might hesitate. Confidence can do a lot.
@@neuroinsect1944 I think in some cases he could be right. If there's like three guys harassing you, and only one immediately jumps in and is taken by surprise; there could be a chance that the other two would be intimidated enough to back off. Although I doubt you could bank on it.
The few times I've gotten into a situation with multiple attackers, it was tense but not as complicated as you think it is. Perhaps we are over thinking what will actually happen with multiple attackers, groups and crowds of people are not that intelligent when acting together. The only thing that really agrees with my personal experience and your theory is that a person needs to be open to deploy whatever response fits the situation. I've attacked the first attacker, I've done ikkyo in response to an attack, I preempted an attack with a verbal threat, and I've also used my own weapon as a pre emptive threat without using it. The point is, you don't know what's going to happen, and no amount of training will tell you what will happen. Not even the "real self defense" instructors. It's often misleading when saying one is real and one is not. The truth is, no one knows until it happens. I agree that conceptually that aikido randori is a good theoretical starting point. But you have to expect the unexpected and be decisive in your action once you move. I live in Texas, so my reality is a gun fight. lol. For real, road rage or bar fights usually end up with a gun fight. So no martial art, MMA or TMA, is going to prepare you for being shot at. It's all a wash at that point, and you'll need other training. Like how to shoot a gun during stress environments. Even then, it's a very high risk situation. Good luck!
@@LMR72 for sure, the rates of gun violence are much higher. It's not uncommon to hear in the news that a bar fight spilled out into the street where someone was shot dead or in critical condition. We're not even worried about fist fights....lol.
I see a lot of problems in using a gun (presumably a pistol?) for self defence, not least of which is where is it located on your body/how long does it take to reach for, unholster, aim and accurately fire a weapon vs someone who has you within punching or stabbing range, what kind of weapon retention training is done to make sure you/your family dont end up shot or abducted using your own weapon, how often and easy is it to train these skills so that they remain sharp enough to be useful, at what point in a situation do decide you want to draw a loaded weapon on someone and escalate it to the highest possible stakes it can go, trained police usually hit a person with one in five bullets so are you ready to take responsibility for potentially hitting someones child or loved one with any of those other four stray bullets and ruining another bystanders life? There are a lot of considerations
As the anime Samurai X said: "Against multiple enemies it's best to run away, if you can't flee then remember each individual has it's own running speed thus each giving you a small moment to take down one before another comes."
Fighting multiple opponents is very hard even for seasoned fighters. The key is to line them up so they can only fight one at a time. Movement of the body is critical or using your environment to help you (for example in a very narrow corridor). Most times that not, these techniques are normally to delay the opponents and run away since you most likely wont be able to beat a large group of people (like in the movies). So yeah, never let the oponent group surrender you, and dont try fighting like in the movies. Best to run away to fight another day.
It depends on how good you are at it. Kicks have more reach, more power and are less expected, a good kick can knock out a person. But you have to be good at kicking, and be quick and ruthless.
Not all kicks are bad. I definitely do not advise high and mid roundhouse kicks because theyre easily caught. But lowkicks, teeps, oblique kicks are all fine in my book
This is a good point especially for people like me who can defend themselves but havent spent years perfecting kicking. Im not even clumsy and I can see me stumbling in a scramble like getting jumped.
@@de20 As a muay thai fighter I have to say good kicks are far from easy to catch, if someone with little experience try to grab my roundhouse kick he will get nothing but a cracked rib. @@51dodoc im an amateur MT fighter who regularly trained under and sparred with nong o Yea sure you can do heaps of damage against someone with no experience on kicks, but a cracked rib isnt going to stop someone high on adrenalin whos out to hurt you. Great boxer have little problem knocking out street toughs I know this from watching great boxers in my neighborhood of Bed- stuy brooklyn knocking out two, three or even four street toughs at a time. This style of boxing is known as 52 blocks boxing. Rokas I hope you been skipping rope and studying great boxers.
Lannel Bishop bed stuy! I almost got in a fight there the other day against an unarmed mugger who was larger than me. I knew mma (grappling and muay thai) so i was honestly just laughing. Im a small weak looking guy who’s lean as fuck underneath the clothes. I can break baseball bats with my shins and can grapple decently against heavy weight grapplers ( i lose 8/10 times with heavy weights but thats good odds considering its with actual grapplers and I can even out grapple a heavy weight who sucks without my hands). I guess that makes me petty. These fuckers won’t even see it coming.
Grappling will get you killed in a fight with multiple opponents. Trained boxers hit harder than any martial artist. Trained boxers know many techniques you don’t see in the ring including head butting and eye poking. 52 blockers know how to make wing chun effective. I studied martial arts off and on for forty years and I am of Seido Juku and I wouldn’t want to fight a 52 blocker other than life of death and I have quite a bit of judo.
Lannel Bishop no a muay thai kick (2.3k lbs)from a pro is harder than Tysons punch (1.4k lbs) , plus its bigger area and they are also used in real combat and can cover distance better. Go to a muay thai gym this week and either ask to get kicked lightly or touch one of their shins. Its crazier than boxing. Boxing is second on the list. Boxers dont deliberately make their bones harder. Thai fighters do. Google it and/or go to a gym and live it first hand. I’m no proof.
I agree with this one. I believe the best form of self-defense is staying out of trouble and not pissing people off to begin with. You know, resolving conflicts peacefully before they escalate into a violent confrontation.
2 of my friends and myself defended ourselves successfully against about a 25 -28 person gang attack. One friend was a student of Hung Gar, the other a student of 52 Blocks, and myself a student of Shotokan Karate. The key to our successful defense was keeping our backs to the wall, so the gang couldn't attack us from behind.
Actually I agree with you. In martial arts not, but street fights you can overwhelm multiple opponents. The 2 are not the same. I am usually a calm person, I used to play ice hockey when I was in pre-school and after school started it all ended. In school one time a guy annoyed me enough(tried to put a leaf in my eye) that 20 people, no less, were needed to stop me from chasing him. 3 of them were teachers. The funniest thing is that I stopped running, they did not stop me from running after the guy. I accidentally while running cut a rope for peonza(game) of my classmate and saw sadness in the eyes. That's when I stopped. I don't like hurting people. It definetly is possible to defeat multiple opponents, but you must know what is on their mind to do that and against martial artists it probably won't work well, because they never start a fight for a reason. Martial arts is a style of art. No artist wants to get hurt or hurt someone. Rules if you are overwhelmed: -Keep the distance -Rotate to the slowest, if 2 people are attacking you analyze which one of them is faster and try to put the slower guy or fatter between the two of you, make them obstacles. -Do not let them grab you, if you are grabbed it is over. If they grab you in case, your last chance is to take control of the person who grabbed you by playing with your weight. Alternatively jump on one of their arm with full body weight to get free, no one can lift 50+kg on one hand. -Use environment for your case. It might sound ridiclious, but dirty fight is dirty fight. Grab that sand and push it in the eyes. Sand is good, because you can just blow it, not even a need for actual hits. -Liver kick and punch is your friend, kicking he liver area can disable one enemy making both flee or let you have a 1v1. -most important: DO NOT ACT LIKE PREY, if you act like a prey you will be one, if you stand your ground they will not really attempt, just DO NOT INITIATE, unless they are in arms reach and you warned them. Warning is optional and for legal reasons Edit: Rip i watched the video later...
As a survivor of RL attacks of 5 vs 1 back in Jr. High school this is all amazingly good information. I was attacked while in school by 5 kids that bullied me for over 2 years straight. Every day they would attack me by trying to overwhelm me and get me down into the floor and nearly kick me to death. My father ended up putting me into Kung Fu and I had a great instructor that told me the truth right from the start your going to lose if you have to fight against those numbers. So he said simply first try and avoid and escape, if not possible find who you can punch to make an escape. If escape is impossible then expect to lose, but make them regret ever trying to harm you. At first it sucked for over a year, but over time I got better I learned how to predict their moves and I learned how to block what areas were vital. Then I started breaking bones countering and yes I lost ALOT of the fights but every broken bone I gave them I counted as a victory. Long story short it all ended one day in the men's bathroom. I was snuck up on by them and had my face rammed into a cement wall 3 times and had my nose shattered! Then I was thrown down to the floor and had a switch blade aimed at my heart! I was lucky my trainning from King Fu had taught me to block blades. So I attempted the same move I had done in practice a thousand times and managed it...but it had stabbed into the back side of my hand! That was when I took advantage of his shock that I did that and grabbed his arm pinned it under my knee and then shattered it making sure his knife was controlled and unusable. It happend so quick I had not noticed the blade cut out of my hand and that I was bleeding heavily from a chunk of skin missing from my hand. That was when his friends all decided to start kicking me. But I knew if I released the leaders arm with the knife I would be dead so I kept him pinned and accepted the blows and screamed for help. At that moment luck was on my side and the freaking principle walked in!! The leader was expelled the kids friends all given suspensions and after that the leader as far as I knew never used his arm again. My nose was flat shattered and required 2 surgeries to fix it. Which I couldn't afford nor my parents untill 13 years later. I self stiched my own hands flesh back on because I was taught how by my mother. I had several bruses all over my entire body, but nothing else was broken since I blocked my vitals. All in all I survived and this man's video is a 100% accurate. If your in a position with multiple attackers RUN!
Fighting two was sometimes easier then fighting one so long as you don’t go down. They are worried about hitting each other where as your just going for it and hitting anything that moves nearby. It’s probably best to just keep fit and be able to run from situations of you need to. Being nimble, fast and mobile with decent stamina along with the adrenaline rush should get you away from most people
That scene from Ip Man 1 still looks so badass. I can feel the intensity coming from Ip Man himself. The way he played those 10 Japanese Black Belt. Just damn.....
It never did anything for me since I never feel like Ip Man is in any danger. Sure he is suppose to be a badass but he takes 1 hit in the entire movie of I recall.
my experience in krav did a great job at simulating multiple opponents... though my teacher made it clear that krav is not a martial art but a self defense system... which i agree with
In the 1980's while walking around my Memphis hood I was attacked and while in fight or flight I was able to fight them off using some kind of crossing there arms and making them hit each other there were more than 5 of them it felt like I was in a dream no shyness no pain or injuries not even later and I didn't have to run from them one of them called out that they were just playing and stoped attacking me, but in the project them going around and beating up people is how they played. All of them were downed some upside down in the bushes that state of mind has helped me many times in violent and dangerous times with no injuries it's been a while but I've always loved my fight or fight mode there were lots of tough guys back then so far I'm still undefeated though as a good person I do try to avoid wrongful people. I liked the rage but liked the smooth quickness I felt in fight or flight more
Came across this. BJJ guy. I agree very much with this. When I played football, I was one of the big guys, and we did this drill where everyone is in a big circle with one person in the middle. The coach points to a person, and they try to tackle the guy in the middle. The coach knew I would fare better than the smaller guys, so he was sending them at me quickly. First guy, down easily... pivot to next person off to the side, down and a bit off-balance at the angle... boom -- guy from my left side hits me and staggers me... then the coup de grace, guy from directly in back of me takes me down hard. I get up... blam, on the ground... get up... repeat until I'm lying on my back gasping for air. That taught me that no matter how badass you are, you don't want to engage multiple threats. I was actually looking for a video on movement using a firearm against multiple attackers having firearms. I don't think many people caught this, but the Punisher executes this awesome sequence of foot movement just in about a 6 foot diameter circle designed to delay the threats' ability to get aim while he just takes them down one at a time. If anyone knows more about that kind of training, please let me know. I'm just blown away at how effective that tactic probably is. ua-cam.com/video/sJ4R0UWpMig/v-deo.html
The stance of the opponents is the key. Select the opponent which has the least balanced and set stance and use that against them. They can be off balanced the easiest and susceptible to an aggressive attack or manipulated. An upright opponent with feet together can be pushed or out maneuvered creating the space which is all important. It is then a fight for your life where escaping is the most important goal. But identifying their stances in chaos will help the most.
I’ve been attacked by two people at once and “won” that fight. But I would never engage 2 or more at once willingly. Two guys ran up, split, and swung at me from both my left and right. I dropped and rolled forward and did a 180 out of the roll so I could see them. They apparently hit each other while I did this... but was kinda rolling on the ground so I didn’t see it too well. They then tried to surround me again. This was in an open parking lot, I kept moving so that our position made a straight line (making sure that one of them was in between me and the one furthest away). Eventually I saw an opening for a side kick while they were lined up. So, I hit the one closest to me as hard as I could pushing him back towards the other. My plan to push one into the other didn’t happen, but the other one had to move out the way. Which is when I ran towards some benches and jumped over the bench putting the bench between me and them. 2nd guy jumped the bench after I did while the 1st guy ran around it, so I side stepped the bench and pushed 2nd guy (while he was airborne) into the 1st guy, then stepped forward with a hard side kick to the 2nd guy as he was colliding with the 1st guy. And I saw a large stick on the ground out the corner of my eye, so I went for the stick as they were falling. As they’re getting up, I whacked one of them (don’t remember which) with the stick as hard as I could in the ribs, then moved back to the other side of the bench to put it between me and them again. That’s when they left. I was lucky they weren’t terribly smart and didn’t really know how to fight too well. Also that I found that stick.
Fought a lot when I was younger. I was a finisher, not a starter. 2 fights were 1v1. All others were 3v1 and up to 7v1. Never lost. In fact, ended up chasing the 7 down the street. Minimal martial Arts training and wrestled for a long time. The strategies explained are accurate. You cant stop for a second and have to be very aware of your surroundings. Hit the ground twice in the group and always took someone down with me, rolled and used them as a block to gain position. I did get hit quite a bit, but they were calculated. Taking a loss to take advantage. If you can, take the small guy first and use him as a ram into the bigger guys. It's not easy to catch a grown man, even the small ones. It delays advances. Juking and backpeddling are essential. Know how to dodge a punch and use the opposer's momentum, either to incapacitate or to move them into the next guy. Lastly, if you get enraged when you get hit, you will lose. You need to get calmer. You need to be able to read and react. Rage and anger make mistakes. If you are one of the few that get more calm when hit, you probably notice everything slows down around you. It's a rare trait and it definitely saved my life. Also, don't fight. It's not worth it. Never started one. Ever.
The problem with relying solely on conventional classroom martial arts is that your opponents typically do not fight with the intent to harm you, and likewise neither do you. In a realistic fight, this restraint or naivety that they only would just "beat you up" in a comical sense will get you killed. Training to deal with a realistic fight situation is entirely different than what you'd get out of an ordinary martial arts class. The techniques we were taught were literally designed to kill. That's why we were expected to fight multiple enemies in combat. Alot of results varied, but the generality was our guy came back injured with most of his attackers dead or having fled.
I don't know why but this made me think about the old SNL sketch with the group of guys who sat around and plotted the best way to attack the hero one at a time so that he could beat them up.
Honestly, I think the most important thing is to have around double or more the combined power level of the attackers. If one squats 225, and another squats 315, then you should squat 540+ to reasonably assume you can take them both. Not an exact science, but it's a starting point. You're going to need stamina to finish both of them too, unless you can one-shot them. Last but not least, there's skill.... but I still think general power level is probably the bigger factor up to a point. A gun still works best lol.
It really depends on the attackers. If you are facing two meatheads that have never taken a punch, then yes it's very possible that your punches will surprise them and they will back off even if they are stronger than you. But if they are determined to beat you it will be almost impossible no matter how strong you are. You could be beating one guys face in and the other guy will just jump on your back and go for the choke hold... And then while you try to stop the choke his friend start punching you in the stomach and the face. So it's very situational. Sometimes you can take on 20 guys if you surprise them and they are a bunch of weaklings. But if you take that out of that equation and just assume that even two people really want to kill you and will not stop unless you knock them out first, your not going to win unless you are a serious badass
Khechari pretty much, if a little man was to plan to take down a a guy twice or three and half the size of his, well you already know who has more mass power, so it’s like a David and Goliath situation, but what If the little man had some fighting training experience? It really depends, but we’re talking about a life and death situation, not friendly competition Oh and it would come in handy knowing what weak points to hit
@@Fernando-rw6vz Hm, well I didn't really say 'size', but size is often related anyway. Strength to weight ratios can't be underestimated though either. I'm not saying skill isn't important, I'm just saying I'd look at maximizing athleticism FIRST, and skill second.
Imagine fighting a traditional baker who kneeds dough all day; what about a traditional clothes washer who wrings out clothes by hand. "How did you crush my hand?" "What? That limp dish cloth?"
I studied martial arts for almost 20 years, was in more than a few fights where I was against multiple people, but never more than 5. If it was two or three people, I usually walked away without a scratch, but any more than that, I definitely took a beating. Was always able to walk away on my own, but I needed a few days to heal up after afterward. The most useful lesson I ever learn though, I learned at a hospital. No one ever wants to fight a crazy person, and no one ever wants to fight a naked person. Speaking from personal experience, it's a lot easier to fake being crazy than it is to fake being naked. Slapping yourself in the face and ranting about insane crap has kept me out of more fights then I ever got in. Edit: because I forgot to add it, and in case anyone asks, definitely the mobility. In the few times where I was up against that many people, mobility, and using my opponents as shields to protecting me from getting overwhelmed, those are the two things that saved my life. Well, maybe not save my life, but definitely saved me from getting messed up any worse. Edit 2: also, forget honor and chivalry. The videos right, it's not a duel. If you were in that situation, and you can't get out, and you can't get away, striking first and hardest is is the only option you have left. Like I stated earlier, I've had a lot of training and practice in this, so in my situations, I felt comfortable taking the fight to them. If you don't feel comfortable, then I recommend the wise words of Jack Sparrow. Never be afraid to fight to run away. Edit 3: I came into this world kicking and screaming, covered in someone else's blood. I have no problem going out that way.
Everything said in this video is all very true, and I congratulate you for wanting to expand your martial arts knowledge in learning other systems as bjj and mma.

I attended a kung fu school in NYC for a few years and fighting multiple attackers was indeed an important part of training (typically 2 against 1). I was surprised to hear your statement that few martial arts address the question of multiple attackers. Perhaps you are right and I just got lucky, however it seems like very valuable training to me. Obviously immediate escape is the best choice but that's not always possible
You're video offers great points.I have studied Kung Fu San Soo for 10 years now and the entirety of the art is focused on multiple attacker based street fighting. In San Soo every point you made is addressed and reinforced. I will say that it is difficult for any art that is designed to actually hurt people to pressure test due to hurting your sparing partner. BJJ is able to pressure test because they focus on submissions as opposed to actually harming an individual. In the 60s and 70s when martial arts was taking off in American society people went to bars or rough parts of town to try out their skills. Due to mass popularity in lawsuits nowadays it's tough to go out and get into street fights without incurring major legal/criminal consequences.
I pushed off one attacker. I couldn't land a punch. But I was able to keep my legs/feet between us after I was knocked down. After my leg push he landed about eight feet away. I got up before he did. He thought about continuing the fight and then ran away. I guess he didn't like flying through the air and hitting the ground.
mpforeverunlimited I've studied Aikido, Judo and now ITF Taekwondo. Having said that in the early 70's while in the Navy a ship mate of mine who had been boxing since he was 12 got into a fight. I was with him when the fight started and he took on 2 guys. These guys couldn't touch him. He hit them so many times and at one point knock one of them through a plate glass window. That guy ended up with multiple injury's and well over 100 stitches. I never forgot that fight and I have a very healthy respect for boxing as that I've seen it in action. Best
My Hero Academia This is back in the early 70's if memory serves he as about 5' 7" medium build. Attacker 1 was the same approximate hight but a thinner build. Attached 2 was about 6' tall heavy set. At that time I knew nothing about boxing or martial arts. Now I know that he was slipping punches and all the good stuff that boxers do. I hope that helps. Best
Lilith Krav Maga is an under appreciated art. But it also suffers from having less high quality instructors compared to say, Muay Thai and BJJ. That said, I desperately want to train in it.
@@vgman94 yea I think you are right, and there must be instructors who are qualified out there teaching stuff that makes no sense. I got lucky in my case, I do think KMG is one of the best and most legit kv institutions out there
Krav Maga Global is the organisation you want to go for when training in Krav. A lot or the others have a habit of toning down the training to make it appeal to more people thus rendering it useless
The problem in our society, is that the legal system is such that even IF you somehow beat up multiple attackers, YOU may be the one who gets charged with battery. In DC, we have groups of teens that go around attacking adults. If the adult defends himself, HE is the one that gets charged with a crime! I've seen this. 😡
Overly simplistic conclusion. Stand up grappling moves like armdrag are very usefull, smaller closed space also increases importance of stand up grappling
You have a point, but the clinch is only good if you're fighting in a tight space, and you're able to use your opponent in the clinch as a shield, placing his body between you and his other buddies who want to knock you out... But in wide open space, I would highly reccomend you NOT use the clinch or any other grappling... You gotta swing with precision & bad intentions, and stay moving...
When I took taekwondo, my teacher took time to teach us what to do in a situation where you are facing more than one opponent. Most taekwondo teachers (in my experience) won’t do that. They also taught us defense against knifes and guns so I’m grateful that I had a teacher that didn’t just focus on kicking and punching, but actually taught us how to defend against weapons and multiple attackers.
Thank You for Sharing, @martialartsjourney! This is a very important topic, and your handling of it, mixing optimism with reality, is very professional.
Obviously the title is overstated. However, it is mostly valid. It does depend on the mentality of the attackers. It would be very unusual to have 5 committed and skilled people attacking someone who will fight to the last breath. Most of the time, at least one is hiding in the strength in numbers. That person will hold back, wait “back up” the others and will run if given the chance.
If you have the faith in your stamina, id suggest what I heard in Samurai X (yes, i know its advice from an anime but bear with me as i believe at least in theory it could work). 1. Immediately strike or do whatever to neutralize the closest threat in front of you.then if you have an opening, dash away. 2. As guy 2 and 3 give chase, stop suddenly and strike the next guy that ends up being closest. 3. Reapeat 1 and 2 until no more guys are after you or you reach a place in your environment that allows you to better get away. It sounds preposterous and downright crazy, but like i said, in theory if you have great enough stamina/awareness of the world around you it might be possible
This is the last editorial I am making to sum up the knowledge I've gained through this last year. Now on Wednesday I am finally flying to US to start my intensive MMA and BJJ training so much more live footage and interviews are to come. Very excited about that and I'll see you all soon.
totally on point, one of the few videos I completely agree with, nice work on this one
it also helps show why being proficient in footwork and positioning is such a huge part of doing well in sparring or self defence
Good journey and luck. I am interested in your thoughts on my reply.

Not really. What the movies got right is mobility and instinct but what they never address is that: if you want to win you have to hit to kill. You don't have to have overwhelming force, but you have to have fear and death on your side. These are the reasons why animals are so dangerous or why men that go to war are traumatized or flee from the enemy.

Chuck Norris put it very well:
You can fight a person, if you're good, you can fight two people. But if 3 or more people want to kick your ass, then your ass is kicked.

Rurouni Kenshin made the same point in one of its episodes: Run, so the fastest opponent leaves the rest behind, then quickly deal with that one. Rinse and repeat.
I agree from before
While this works in theory, it wouldn't actually work in practice.

When the police came there were 3 of them and one of me so the cop arrested me, but he saw through their bullshit and drove around the corner
and let me go, telling me to go straight to the hospital. I got 12 stitches over my right eye and was bad bruised up for about 10 days but I feel lucky I did not get brain damage. No martial art can prepare you for this kind of situation, but my training did help me with movement and slipping punches and I knew not to go down or it would have been much worse. My advise is to avoid these situations at all cost, a bruised ego is much better than brain damage, just walk away.
why does this not have more upvotes? maybe not many people understand that this is a realistic depiction of what happens instead of a movie outcome
Ps did your wife get hit at all in the encounter?

I would say by experience through a friend that 3 are the limit. 4 is too much unless at some point they chicken out, which they normally don't.

@@stefanurquelle7736 Nobody beats Snake Eyes........ NOBODY!!!
This is very true
Not as ez as it sounds especially the fact that u dont know their power lvl... It could be over 9000!
Take down the biggest opponent first and in devastating fashion. Hopefully you'll scare the others away.
Good luck!
Do bar fight s usually end up with a gun fight in Texas?? Really? In most cases?

Lars M. Rimol it really is. It’s a good equalizer for idiots. Far less hooligans starting fights when you know there’s consequences.

@Shaman Xeed Your pfp might not be anime, but it seriously isn't much better either. So you should shut up.
I remember watching a Russian football hooligan on tv. He said that kicking is a bad idea, you'll fall down.

As a muay thai fighter I have to say good kicks are far from easy to catch, if someone with little experience try to grab my roundhouse kick he will get nothing but a cracked rib. Now if you aren't train to kick, never use them because it requires a good balance that you only acquire through a long training.
@@51dodoc im an amateur MT fighter who regularly trained under and sparred with nong o
Yea sure you can do heaps of damage against someone with no experience on kicks, but a cracked rib isnt going to stop someone high on adrenalin whos out to hurt you. If he has just the slightest bit of a decent reaction speed and body coordination, he'll be able to catch it somehow, throw you to the ground and from there you risk losing a ground fight
His friend was far enough for me to cripple kick his leg a few times and make a run, but i ended up just trying to befriend him and gave him quarters cause the dude was hilariously out of control and i couldn’t even take the mugging seriously.
If you’re a criminal, you best be in shape because you’re gonna get into lotsss of fights. I put so many hours into getting prepared for these moments specifically.
Dude nobody asked about your street fight. Go brag somewhere else.
I’m no proof.
attacker comes up at me
me: gimme a moment, I just need to change into my gear and put my hand-wraps on
This opened my eyes to the real dangers of mugging. Thank you so much
I agree with this one. I believe the best form of self-defense is staying out of trouble and not pissing people off to begin with. You know, resolving conflicts peacefully before they escalate into a violent confrontation.
Oldboy did this real well. The hero and the attackers are confined to a narrow hallway, the hero is using a weapon and he actually gets hurt
@Silent Psykosis Yeah, but that guy died in the end. Oldboy lived. Course, he had the strongest weapon of all: plot armor
👀
This is one of the many drawbacks of watching too many Kung Fu movies.😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Rules if you are overwhelmed:
-Keep the distance
-Rotate to the slowest, if 2 people are attacking you analyze which one of them is faster and try to put the slower guy or fatter between the two of you, make them obstacles.
Warning is optional and for legal reasons
Edit:
Rip i watched the video later...
The secret to fighting even ONE attacker is to never lose mobility. Movement and footwork is everything.
Bro I wanted to believe but you've destroyed my dreams
Better your dreams destroyed than your life
If your life's biggest dream is to beat up multiple people then you don't have any dreams that are worthwhile.
Fighting two was sometimes easier then fighting one so long as you don’t go down. They are worried about hitting each other where as your just going for it and hitting anything that moves nearby. It’s probably best to just keep fit and be able to run from situations of you need to. Being nimble, fast and mobile with decent stamina along with the adrenaline rush should get you away from most people
Thnx for breaking my fantasy I will train even harder and got motivation due to u thnx
This seems fair - Did a bit of multiple opponents with limited contact in Krav Maga. Realistic options are limited, and are pretty much as described.
my experience in krav did a great job at simulating multiple opponents... though my teacher made it clear that krav is not a martial art but a self defense system... which i agree with
In the 1980's while walking around my Memphis hood I was attacked and while in fight or flight I was able to fight them off using some kind of crossing there arms and making them hit each other there were more than 5 of them it felt like I was in a dream no shyness no pain or injuries not even later and I didn't have to run from them one of them called out that they were just playing and stoped attacking me, but in the project them going around and beating up people is how they played.

Where playing Doom Eternal at the hardest difficulty actually helps you in an IRL situation
Ever.
Cool story kid.
The best martial arts to fight multiple opponents: Parkour
Choose your battle
It really depends, but we’re talking about a life and death situation, not friendly competition
Oh and it would come in handy knowing what weak points to hit
@@Fernando-rw6vz Hm, well I didn't really say 'size', but size is often related anyway.
Strength to weight ratios can't be underestimated though either.
I'm not saying skill isn't important, I'm just saying I'd look at maximizing athleticism FIRST, and skill second.
Imagine fighting two professional boxers at the same time lol

Boxing is best for multiple attackers
mpforeverunlimited I've studied Aikido, Judo and now ITF Taekwondo. Best
John Kennedy How big was your friend and his attackers if you don’t mind me asking?
My Hero Academia This is back in the early 70's if memory serves he as about 5' 7" medium build. Attacker 1 was the same approximate hight but a thinner build. Attached 2 was about 6' tall heavy set. At that time I knew nothing about boxing or martial arts. Now I know that he was slipping punches and all the good stuff that boxers do. I hope that helps. Best
For all the Krav Maga haters out there, everything mentioned in this video is what our instructor conveyed when dealing with multiple agressors
I got lucky in my case, I do think KMG is one of the best and most legit kv institutions out there
Lilith Krav is AWESOME against multiple opponents! Krav haters are typically folks who have not trained in it!
@Liam Nek this is why we need femenism
Krav Maga Global is the organisation you want to go for when training in Krav. A lot or the others have a habit of toning down the training to make it appeal to more people thus rendering it useless
This! Should be screened in every martial art club.
Oreo Carlton
is this something you have tried against multiple attackers who are trying to punch you?
I guarantee you, you will be knocked out before you can tear or break anything. If multiple people want to kill you, you'll die.
_Why did youtube recommend this to me_
_I never posted anything about taking kung fu_
When I took taekwondo, my teacher took time to teach us what to do in a situation where you are facing more than one opponent. Most taekwondo teachers (in my experience) won’t do that. They also taught us defense against knifes and guns so I’m grateful that I had a teacher that didn’t just focus on kicking and punching, but actually taught us how to defend against weapons and multiple attackers.
Master Woon Kook Baek taught us the throat rip. Since I was 14, that one's been sitting in my pocket, waiting for someone to threaten me badly enough.
