The tensioners look like they are taken from a children's toy. No wonder they are failing. None of the sprockets seems to have any woodruff keys so good quality timing tools are needed to hold camshafts and crankshaft in place. Thanks for great video! It was good to see this just for special tool needs sake.
Couldn’t BMW tried a bit harder and made this repair impossible rather than just very tricky. Would have preferred a commentary . Still a useful video.
My engine consumes a fair bit of oil. Apparently my piston rings have now worn down a little and so little amounts of oil is getting into the combustion chamber. If I add oil when it’s getting lower than good, is that acceptable?
borat smagadijev I thing it’s possible to reach 300000 if you’ll use good oil and change it every 7000 km and drive it like old man))...but people who buy a turbo engine don’t that.
My 2008 Mini Cooper diesel is now on 243,000km and going strong. Normal wear issues ,but it has had regular services each year since new. When a issue arises I have it done straight away so the problem does not escalate ,just about to have the timing chain done as has a rattle. My rule is.. look after your car and it will look after you 😁The Mini is a great little car, this is my 2nd one, i had the Cooper S before this one, And hopefully will be getting the Mini Cooper coupe S next in a couple of years time.
Make feel deja vu Weak chain weak tensioner oil not changed means chain not tensioning correctly this was learnt and should have been digested by designers as was the plague Honda Mororcycles In the 1980s, weak ohc tensioning spring allows weak chain to clatter around destroying the sprockets tensioner it made some Honda's nearly un sellable as come to light at a early mileage Some models revamped and completely redesigned CX500>VT500>NTV650. AND COMBINED WITH Honda Producing Chocolate Cams damaged their enviable reputation for bulletproof bikes...

Will Malliotis before piston rings you can try to change valve seals maybe it’s will be helpful
Can this engine do 300000 km with regular maintenance. Is it reliable once you fix the chain problem?
