This is my favorite notebook for note taking at work. The paper is wonderful and I like that it lays flat.

I love Midori journals notebooks. My journals are mainly used for daily sketching and journaling and the Midori paper is perfect for me. I haven't tried too many different inks with my fountain pens, but so far I haven't had any bleed through the paper. I always look forward to your videos, they're all very helpful, thank you!

I just got one of these notebooks. Was hoping you might have actually written on the paper to give the viewers some kind of idea of how that goes for you. A review of a notebook without laying down some ink seems a missed opportunity.

That's a good point Michael and I will do that in the future. I like to paper in this notebook but I think I like the leuchtturm1917 the best.

This was very helpful, thank you. I've been thinking of trying one of these for a while. I favour stalogy but have notebooks for different subjects/purposes, and this does look very good.

I do like the paper. I have a few pads I use for correspondence. I was thinking of trying this exact journal so I look forward to hearing about your experience with it.

I made an expandable folder for the back of the note book. Works great!

I haven't used their journals, but the Midori Sticky Memo Pad is my preferred sticky note product. I'm assuming it's similar paper, and I enjoy the simplicity of the products as well.

I use the A4 size Oxford Black m' Red as my personal journal. When I was sixteen, I live out in the middle of nowhere, there was no internet, and finding a Black n' Red was a miracle. There were no other Foutain pen papers around, and the only office supply store for a lot of miles took a chance and order a handful of the casebound Black n' Red notebooks. I bought one, even though it was hideously expensive for the time. That was 1969, and I've never found a reason to switch. It's funny, but now these are one of the cheapest notebooks out there.
I do keep several kinds of journals, and use different notebooks for those. I also use notebooks for anything else that comes to mind. The Walmart Exceed brand is my favorite for "junk" journaling. Kind of a brainstorming, anything that comes to mind journal. I also have 1917 and Endless journals, but neither plays well with some of my pens and inks. The same is true of Moleskine, though I just bought one of the Moleskine expanded notebooks, and even though the pages are extremely thin, I can use it with my finer nibs, as long as I don't use very wet inks.
I use a lot of Rhodia, primarily the top spiral bound, and I use even more of the Oxford Black n' Red side spiral bound because the paper is fantastic. Same with Apica, which is one of my favorite papers.
Clairefontaine paper is wonderful, but I'm not fond of the notebooks it comes in. I do buy quite a bit of Clairefontaine loose leaf paper for letter writing.
I've had a couple of Midori notebooks, and I like the paper. I just have so many notebooks and journals of various types that I haven't bought another Midori.
I don't worry overly much about the type of paper I buy. I love fountain pens, and a fountain pen is by favorite writing instrument, but not my only one. I also love writing with pencils, sometimes woodcase pencils, but most often with mechanical pencils. I also use dip pens often, glass dip pens, metal dip pens, and even goose and turkey feather quills. If I can't use a given paper with one instrument, I can always use it with another.

I've been hunting around for a Black n Red that you suggested. They are available on Amazon but are expensive. I'm in Canada and haven't come across a Canadian seller yet. Where do you buy them James?

I don't have a lot of experience with different papers so far, however, my favourite right now is MD paper in my Traveler's Passport sized notebook. Second is the paper used in the Selectum Composition books available at Dollarama. Third is whatever paper Peter Pauper Press uses in their Essentials series A5 notebooks.
I much prefer white paper over cream coloured paper, which is one reason the Peter Pauper Press book is in third. The other reason is, with certain pens and inks it seems to bleed more than even the cheaper Selectum books. The plus for the Peter Pauper Press book, is the paper is heavy and you have zero bleed through, and almost zero show through.

I've used the composition books before and they are great. I've not tried Peter Pauper yet though I've been tempted.

@@PEIPenGuy the Peter Pauper Essentials books are good, the paper is heavy and smooth. I have seen inks like Private Reserve Electric DC Blue and, my favourite, Dominant Industry/Wonder Pens Ginger Chicken, both bleed noticeably with fine and medium nib on that paper. However, Platinum Mixable Black, Carbon Black, Pigment Blue, and Rohrer & Klingner Scabiosa don't bleed with any nib from extra fine to medium.
