My goodness that block is beautiful. The whole setup is just hnnng.
@c: Methods he is very experienced with this particular motor papadakis racing is the best of the best in my opinion
Is this aluminium or another component?
Well its a $14,000 bare block, what did you expect lol
@Johan Fouche its not overpriced, they also had R&D costs and these are only made on purchase orders
@Johan Fouche you think a bare billet engine block is worth $1,400
In what universe does that happen
That block is a work of art

Weight reduction bro
I love how he basically did that run one handed!!! Very balanced car!
Nice that you noticed that. Just a secondary thing but if you think about the backround it is mindblowing.
The car is RWD and the rear axes is the most important axes for a straight run. The combination of both factors at the horsepower need perfect configurations of the wheelbase, shock absorbers and so on. Really professional work.
I changed my turbo on my 1.8t this week and that was a real horror and this is nothing compared to this kind of work.
Dennis Hu what kind of 1.8? Vw diesel?

Jesus Christ that Turbo is bigger than my whole engine.
That's hilarious
Moped engine?
@Aaron Aaron c20let
that is one sick 2 stroke poppet valved loop charged motor! But with billet aluminum its easy to cut ports into it for a uniflow 2 stroke. This thing runs some sick oil injectioin and can run in any positions do to its 2 stroke design.
thats some serious 2 stroke power here. 2 stroke flow twice the air than a given 4 joke!
Man I've never seen anyone build one that fast!
measurements take a lot of time
Holy shit... how is such performance even possible!? The 2JZ is an engineering marvel.

FINALLY! This is the first out of many assembly videos that I've seen, where the guy doesn't soak the piston rings in oil and knows what he's doing! Great video :)
Now this is what people go work and grind for everyday 🤩
Thanks Jay for sharing your experience and expertise with us.
Cringe
Truly amazing to see someone fall in love with a motor so much and want to race it so much that they redesign it far beyond the OEM standards..👍
Great video thank you for showing us the build for this 6 second Supra 👍
Wow, the building process is a fine art. Amazing
i cant believe how straight that car ran down the track lol. honestly thats more impressive than the engine.
Straight beast of a car. That engine n chassis are a great match.
Has a $40-60k motor "beast of a car" Id hope so

I would like to see the 2J's adopted son the B58 have one of theese billet blocks. 😊
hector sepulveda yeah ok. The B58 is weak and unreliable. Nothing compared to the 2JZ.
@@savagetuner2404 Wrong. A B58 is not an N series inline 6 you know. The Block is designed to be diesel powered, and diesel engines need strong internals for the ignition and the excess torque can break them into pieces. The're things you cant find on the brochure Junior.
hector sepulveda lol keep talking to the part time diesel mechanic. They aren't built for diesel.
2JZs are pretty addictive. I've built only one and I want to get another one to put somewhere already lol. That you guys and Hanz for helping me to get parts I needed quickly!
Much respect for how you explained why or why your billet block is or is not for certain people
Nice! Congrats on the 6 second run!!! 🔥🔥
2jz anything always peaks my attention. 2jz=love, and who else better to build one. Big Jay is the man! 💪💪💪
Actual little known fact, the word you are looking for is piques not peaks.
Sweet! Thanks for sharing. You make driving that beast look easy.
Really looking forward to drag week this year
Great info! Jay is hands down one the most humble, knowledgeable guys in the industry.
You know Jay is a badass when he's building a 2JZ and on the phone at the same time 02:37
I thought I was the only one who noticed. Man is a legend.

Long live the king 2jz!
That engine is a work of art!
This is the most glorious video I've watched today.
Informative and sharing . wow. Great vid.
Now this is good real Supra content! 2jz the engine that most of the fastest imports in the world use! Not a BMW B58
the 2jz has had almost 30 years of aftermarket manufacturing support LMAO, how new is the b58... also show me a 2j with a down pipe and a tune only making 500hp😂 bruh the b58 is the 2j of today
jtg199 it’s not a JDM Toyota engine
We have no real clue as to what the potential of the BMW engine is. Yes we know the 2JZ had a ridiculously strong block due to design and metal composition. We dont know too much about the new engine and it's not fair to shit all over it before it has time to prove one way or the other
@@prm5798 uh.. who cares? Lol toyota isnt going to give their biggest name to anyone without making sure they make the car properly LMAO
Oh, someone's feeling are crushed hard 🤣
I never understood this type of builds, that said it is interesting to see someone passionate about them

The block and head in this video alone will set you back $15,000.

This looks like one of the lego games i played as a kid, a guy building something i had no idea about what it was at a very fast speed on a display. and i loved it. still do..
We have a billet 2JZ at our shop. They are amazing to see in person, the video doesn't do it any justice.

I just watched this man build an engine like i build a sandwitch like it was nothing
The really, really, and I mean really time consuming part of a quality build is all the measuring that goes on before hand. Once everything is ready for final assembly, it really is just bolting it all together. The fact that he's done it a few times probably helps though 😂
James Borek like, when im measure out my pre made Salome slices. Yea, hmmmmmmm

Fantastic engineering! Beautiful engine and design.
That’s just the most badass /interesting engine ever.

kangaro jack lmao right
For me it's the bmw m12/13 build video
Let's make a billet S54, with the stock crank and head, same compression and everything, I bet you it will outflow the 2JZ all day, and it has a timing chain.
bmw is trash
2JZ was built for 25 years ago,but not surprisingly most are still running.
Haha I love it when people say BMW is shit makes me laugh at what their point of quality reference is 😂
Nothing at all wrong with both BMW and Toyota, I adore the MKIV Supra however BMW make some awesome cars too ! my friend has a 18 plate 120i i4 turbo, stock it was around 180bhp with 220 ft lb torque and now with only a stage 1 rermap it is running almost 300bhp with around 400 ft lb torque the thing is a little monster and for someone like my friend it provided him with the perfect base to start from and learn a little about cars, he would have a Supra too he says but he just doesn't have the knowledge or understanding to learn how to build one himself. Me personally I would love a collection of Supras all with different built engines and a bunch of BMW :D we can all dream !
There so much shit, that the most reliable company put their engine instead of a 3JZ, not eveyone is cheap and only wants to spend the least possible on a build.
this is a fantastic video from the production to the engine looking fantastic to the end .. wonderful :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I LOVE THIS MOTOR AS WELL. I WOULD LOVE TO BUILD A BILLET MOTOR IN THE FUTURE. GREAT VIDEO AND UPGRADES. THANKS FOR SHARING.

make it into a 2 stroke you sure could.
here in Brazil they are using the Chevrolet opala block to make 2jz blocks!
wtf is that lmaooo
Diamura the opala is a brazilian made car 4 door sedan in the late 70s and throughout the 80s... a middle class car really (middle class for the 80s in latin america anyways)

We can all agree the Toyota 2JZ is the best motor for tuners in the world!
Roughly how much would a billeted 2jz block set one back?
What is the weight difference between the billet block and the original block… Assembled. Thank you.
Billet block is stronger and lighter
@@nathantaylor4043 I think he was asking how much lighter is the Billet block is over the stock block. or he's asking what the weight of each block is so we can see what the difference is. we know the billet block is lighter.
Generally aluminum blocks weigh 50-100lbs less in the v8 world and a 2jz is basically the same size (i know people hate comparing a v8 to a L6 but if you compare weight to weight of the 2jz to many popular cast iron aluminum head v8s you're looking at pretty similar weights
@@leroyj9044 No you are not. You are talking about 2 more cylinders a heavier crank.
@@Aunubus69 Just because it has more cylinders doesn't mean that it will be heavier.
I heard about billet crank but god DAMN the whole block + redesigned? This is mesmerising.
Absolutely beautifully done.

CNC engine block, mind blowing
Always been more of a RB or Isuzu person, but this is beautiful.
So basically if you have only custom parts, you are building a different engine, right? You actually dont need a 2jz to build a 2jz. Am I right? Somebody please explain
using 2JZ design and using a different material. Same thing toyota did with the 1JZ. Yamaha designed it for toyota. Toyota then made it better and better materials. So this would be like a 3JZ
@@TrojanLube69 Yamaha did not have any input in the 1jz or 2jz, please find me a reliable source that isn't wikipedia that says yamaha helped. Toyota themselves have never mentioned yamaha helping in development.

I'd take that and only run it at 1200hp, with the proper tuning itll last forever.
only 1200hp ? thats a bit low isn't it?
@@Professor-Scientist thats the point. If you tune the hp too high the engine will wear out faster. He is saying it would last forever at around 1200 hp
@@TheTmanator123 I was being sarcastic because 1200hp is still ridiculously fast.
you must be american ?
@@Professor-Scientist I would say 1200hp is way too of a overkill for everyday use or any road use in my opinion. 700 hp is even too much. For everyday use no more than 400-500hp and for just a weekend drive maybe 700-800. 1000+ only for a track.
@@ProFac992 Exactly, even if you try to use 1000hp+ on the street you will just be burning the tires because there is no way you are going to transfer all that power to the pavement unless you are at 150mph+.
