    Yeah, this one looks really nice, it is interesting that there hasn't been a lot of interest shown in this technology, could it be for the fact that it's not any standout to a DD of similar price as you say. Thanks Paul for the review.

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  3 місяці тому

      Yes, the SPD has fans who like them, don't quite sound the same as a DD, but yeah, doesn't standout. A $60usd 1DD set is crazy good today so it is simply getting harder to compete.

    Great review Paul, I prefer my more traditional planar sets. They cost a bit more, but worth it imho.

      What do you think these square planars are missing vs the 14mm planars?

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  3 місяці тому

      SPD don't really resemble planars. A nicely tuned 14mm planar is more like a $300 hybrid.

    it has a new driver too. the original is ever so slightly u shaped but generally flat while this new one is more v shaped

      @PaulWasabii  3 місяці тому +1

      Ah cool. I had asked the Kinera rep on Facebook the question as to what was changed and never got a clear answer. I thought it was the same exact driver also.

    Oh hey interesting that curve just really resembles the basic SPD curve you can find in ali by bellsing
    I wonder if you can just toss that into a housing and get similar results

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  3 місяці тому

      Something like that although I think the shell shape has been most of the tuning on these sets. Not sure, but seems that way

    Thanks for the review Paul ! Question , did you try them with the wide bore tips ? I read they come with them in the box too , and since these enhance the treble performance perhaps it would make a difference...

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  3 місяці тому

      To be brutally honest, just EQ and you have fine control over the rise. Tips are too hit and miss. You spend $60usd. just dial it in to the tips you find the most comfortable.

    What's your take on the most 'worth it' price brackets?
    I hear people floating around that 100$ is the most bang for buck, 200$ is pretty meh and you're better off saving for maybe a 300+ set. Etc etc
    A subjective question as value is different for everyone but would love to hear your thoughts.
    Thanks for the content as usual!

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  3 місяці тому +1

      The sub $100 bracket is the most worth it. For most of the sets in $100-$200 range, you are better off spending less or a lot more. They tend to be marginally better than sub $100 sets. Nearly everything in the $100-$200 has a problem, same problems you find at lower price points so you are often better off spending less. There are a few I have liked, Quintet, Hype2, and Cadenza4. If you aren't spending $200, the most value for the money is easily in affordables, CCA Trio, Rhapsody, TRN Conch, the Simgots, Moondrop Lan, etc. There are a lot of great sets in the sub $100 range.

    How would you compare the pandamon 1.0 with the pandamon 2.0?

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  2 місяці тому +1

      Never heard the first but this is supposed to be more of a shell swap rather than any improvement.

    Hi, I wanted to ask about this set. They're currently on sale in my region for $38. Would you say this is a good set for male vocals? Looking for something that portrays them as natural yet a bit clean and energetic.
    Does anything else in the $30-40 range compete with these considering theor current sale price?

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  Місяць тому +1

      Most of chifi doesn't do male vocals but this at least has some midbass so males are so lean. Its quite hard to find natural males, I typically EQ.

    Is it the most sensitive & easy to drive iem you've ever had?

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  3 місяці тому

      Most IEMs have a sensitivity rating and 99% are easy to drive. This one is fine, not the most sensitive but definitely easy to drive.

    does it work for metal?

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  Місяць тому

      It kinda does because the treble/upper is relaxed. Depends on how picky you are in that area. Some people like upper treble quite low for metal

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  3 місяці тому

      Pandamon is more of a casual fun set. Hype 2 level is more for serious listeners but don't jump to Hype 2 unless you have quite a bit of IEM experience.

  • @afuyan
    @afuyan 3 місяці тому

    SPD is basically a planar that doesn't do it's purpose 😂 Seriously, random weird KZ dynamic drivers have better treble response than this! Look at CCA Duo, and what the frog is this? Also, look at that huge fall before 20k. Or, if people like that muddy bass shelf, just EDX Ultra, the treble extension better and smooter than even KZ's own planar.

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  3 місяці тому

      Like most of this hobby, there will be people who will swear the opposite of what you said. All along with Kinera's SPD sets has been a group of folks who really appreaciate them. I have heard worse.
