      @@PaulWasabii probably the best advice so far I got in viewing these reviews. I have already purchased a KZ zs10 pro x, its kinda impulsive and my first ever IEM, but I really enjoy it a lot. But after the purchase I decided to dive deep into the world of IEMs Then I realised there is a whole new world of IEMs. I fallen in love with the IEMs after the purchase, probably this will be one of my hobbies in the future. But I actually considered to upgrade mine after seeing these reviews. This is a pretty good advice. Thanks

    I like what I see on that upper midrange. 3k 'peak' not my cup of tea but the glide/cut they did on the 800-2k region is, I think, new for a KZ DD/BA hybrid which is a good foreboding.
    Hopefully they keep it up and please KZ give us something midrange-focused.

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  9 місяців тому

      Yeah, they go through spirals of tuning. You see them increase for a few sets, then it backs down. They just need to keep following the refinement but it typically gets interrupted when they decide to try something new.

  • @afuyan
    @afuyan 9 місяців тому +14

    I think the culprit behind the noisy high end is because the KZ is not using a proper acoustic-grade capacitor or something when they starting to use the zobel network kind of thing. I really need the HiFri explanation for this but never heard his voice for a while.

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  9 місяців тому +2

      Possible. Since they started with Zobel, its been hard to explain this to them but there have been occasions where they have changed the nozzle material for similar reasons. Yeah, would be nice to see HiFri again, but I think he is taking care of HiFri which is more important.

      Acoustic grade capacitors...
      They don't exist. However, NP0 or C0G does exist but they don't exist in big enough capacities in small sizes so the next best would be X7R

    Almost got these but can't couldn't resist proX at $13. This review was exactly what I've been hoping for-I do love the Boom! I like it as is but I love to play with eq on every set. It sounds really good regardless. Also sorta hooked on modding with tape/filters
    So far I'm happy with it just tip rolling without mod. Although you pretty much inspired me to go there 😜. Using KZ gold and mixed SPC/copper cable. Not sure if it makes a difference since won't use KZ stock ones that look cheap and ugly.

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  9 місяців тому +1

      You knew the answer before the review. The boom is an older KZ characteristic, they have modernized their house tuning to decrease the boom. EQ will get it back usually so you would have been fine either way but now you still have coffee money in your pocket.

    • @MariaAudioChick
      @MariaAudioChick 9 місяців тому

      @@PaulWasabii true. Their newer tunings are good too but I really do enjoy an old school bassline. Grew up with the Cars That Go Boom, basshead blooded 🙄you know how it goes in this hobby, that coffee money was spent immediately on ultra budget sets, AK6 pro, Edx Lite and Edx Pro X 😂 I have so many cables, tips and filters that for less than $10 for the 3, figured they would be fun to experiment with. Expected AK6 PRO to be an awful muddy, shouty mess. I was surprised AF with how much I love it! My set is not nearly as bassy, nor energetic as it looks on the graph and is surprisingly clear. Eqd off a bit of
      mid bass and with TTips, ended up with a very satisfying, textured bass. EDX Lite graphs like a brighter Rosefinch, not even close, hated it at first. Mine is bass lite, and the sound was just off. Saved by small bore tips. The Pro X is really good too. It's crazy how much you can accomplish with tip rolling, don't feel the need yet to mod but I'll get the itch to tinker soon enough.

    My guess was right. 😂 Recently ordered the Z S10 Pro for less than $15 after discount because thought the Pro 2 was not going to be radically different and I'd want something better when sitting down to enjoy music and the Pro X would be good enough to have music in the background when I step out of the house.
    I'll be keeping an eye out for the next releases...

    I came across a representation of an audio driver on the KZ website, for the KZ ZS10 Pro 2 model.
    Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the driver on the right side does not seem to have a canal at the top, unlike the driver on the left.
    I am confused about how sound is supposed to come out of the right-side driver in this configuration.
    Could anyone kindly clarify the design and functionality of this driver?
    Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    I think we have some good news here! But...
    Can that "classic" compete with moondrop's and other flavor IEM's we have today in the ways of the neutral-natural-bright sound? Even against their own planar stuff?
    THX for the video!

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  8 місяців тому

      By compete, I would say Moondrop's tuning appeals to some people, not people who buy KZ sets who like more bass or warmer sounds. KZ also has a broad range of styles. Outside of 7hz Zero, other brands don't out-Moondrop Moondrop. If those signatures are your preference, KZ won't be for you.

  • @spamcan9208
    @spamcan9208 9 місяців тому

    Does restricting air at the nozzle create more pressure inside the shell which then helps to control the dynamic driver's mass as it moves back and forth? Reminds me of dampers in a car's suspension. iirc they're also tuned by changing the orifice size oil moves back and forth through.

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  9 місяців тому

      That is what it sounds like. Sometimes in IEM land, you hear about front loading. This isn't unique to KZ but it can be very volume and tip dependent. KZ tends to rotate nozzle mesh material and I think some work better for me than others.

    Hi Paul, I was wondering if you could give me some advice? I've used some old Sony IEMs for many years and they just gave out. They were actually very good. I'm hoping for a step up, but keeping it fairly cheap. I mostly listen to Thrash Metal, Rock, Punk, Prog rock. I was thinking KZ ZS 10 X or Pro 2, ZSN Pro 2, 7Hz Crinacle Zero 2 or similar, together with a Fiio JA11 DAC to increase volume, as My Poco X6 5G is a bit quiet on full volume. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  4 місяці тому

      Just IMO, the KZ ZS10 Pro 2 with switches is handy when you don't know. Pro X is more like classic KZ, boosted bass and treble but that set is super popular. It is very fun and works with many music genres around the world. Zero 2 is more like a relaxed KZ sound, not as fun but if you are sensitive to treble fatigue, it might work better. Why is Zero 2 a popular gaming set, the relaxed treble is better for long sessions.

      I never heard Zero blue but spatial awareness is usually clouded by more bass. Mostly why the original 7hz Zero is a nice gaming set. Also why having switches for bass level is good on ZS10 Pro 2. Bass is good for music, but even for music, it tends to pull in the sound rather than project. 7hz Zero has a bit less treble which is mostly less fatigue.

    I owned the KZ Z10 pro and upgraded a year ago to pro X. Wanted to try these but man, my DAC doesn't even give it the same boldness and pump/power the Pro x gives you. These pro 2 get muddy real soon and you cannot tell the difference between sounds vs the Pro x in fps and gaming. Same price, skip these again if you are into fps gaming and enjoying music.

      Pro X is almost a legendary set, they sold a ton. It is more V-shaped, that gives you a bit more fun and separation.

    Hi Paul! How would this compare to zsn pro 2 as far as sound quality, specially treble? Thanks!

    • @PaulWasabii
      @PaulWasabii  9 місяців тому +1

      The two sets are tuned very similar, same dynamic driver too. My issue with ZSNP2 was there was an area in the treble that had a peak, some extra energy that got fatiguing for me. ZS10 P2 is better in that respect, but generally around the same price points, you are hearing level differences, more or less treble or bass rather than radical changes in sound quality. Or if the treble in ZSNP2 gets to you, CCA Trio is easier to deal with.

      I'd prefer Sonus, KZ tends to use a bit more treble. ZS10P2 is V shaped, lots of bass and treble. A bit more energetic and fun. Sonus is shallow V, less energetic but brought the vocals forward which is not as favorable. ZS10P2 might be the safer pick, or start with something easy like KZ EDC Pro.
