- Today falconers came together in central Ohio for a field meet. Multiple Red-Tailed Hawks were flown and we got some impressive video! Jeb may need a week off after this one!

*I am a licensed falconer through the State of Ohio. It is a state and federal offense to tamper with or possess a bird of prey without proper licensing and/or permission from state or federal authorities. It is also illegal to injure or kill any bird of prey in the USA. If you believe you see an injured bird of prey, contact your state's falconry club or state game warden.
Nice stoop Jeb
I'm giving him a 7 / 10 😂
Enjoyed the video immensely! Can't wait to see Xena do her stuff...
Thanks Scott! Oh yeah I'm itching to get her out. Probably won't be til the 3rd week of January.
Great to see the respect and devotion of you falconer’s. I watch Harriers,Coopers,Redtails and Sharpshines loving my CRP plot and the bird feeders. I love helping them survive.
Thanks Wayne! It's pretty amazing what a CRP field will hold.
@ indeed! The local NRCS office uses our plot for example tours. We just were excepted for another ten years and added another 1.5 acres of pollinators. Watched a Redtail dive in by the feeder today awesome!
That's awesome! What state are you in?
@ lovely IL. 🤣
I have a fishing friend in Findlay I visit yearly. I’m a fishing guy and outdoorsmen. Love all.
Looks like a fun day of hawkin! 👍
It was a great time!
Great video some really nice birds and not too mention some awesome kills
@@kenbadgett8383 Thanks Ken! We had a ton of fun filming this field meet!
great video keep up the training vids on Xena
@@tombrabant7097 Thanks Tom! I sure will!
Man, dirt hawking is such a rush. Hopefully I'll be getting out to field meets myself soon, that'll be fun. Awesome to see these amazing birds doing what they were born for. Redtails are super underrated here in the UK, we have tons of invasive grey squirrels here so they're perfect for that. But those stoops on rabbits! Unreal
We LOVE our Red Tails here in the US! Everything is on the menu for them!
I didn’t know Columbus had areas to hunt and I was born and raised there. So wish we had the cooler temps y’all have in Ohio. Hawking in 70 degree weather in Texas is not fun
@@mixedup72 Yeah I like the 60s n 70s for fishing and anything below 50 for hunting.
Knowing all birds will be different you mentioned flying a red tail male, just out of curiosity do remember flying weight?
It's varies so much because the males weights range a lot. One bird hunted at 24 oz and the other hunted at 27 oz .
I thought you was supposed to trap juvenile birds then release them after a season or 2 how come that falconer has an 11 year old Bird?
@@ronnysavage There is no limit on how long you can hunt with one specific bird. I know a falconer that has a Red Tail that's over 20 years old. I once hunted with a Red Tail for 3 seasons, and only let her go because I had to move and couldn't relocate my mews.
@@FinsandTalons at what length of time is it too long to then return the bird to the wild? I assume more years as a hunting partner less likely to revert to being a wild animal. Thanks for your answers and your content BTW.
@ronnysavage The passage Red-Tails can be released at any time. They were not captive bred, and revert back to the wild with great success.
