LAKE DISTRICT FELL RUNNING | TRAINING FOR NEXT YEAR'S RACE SEASON

- Today's video is a long form video of what one of my typical fell runs looks like.
When I head out int' fells for a training run this is how my day looks.
I have a rough plan in my head and more often than not that plan changes. If I'm heading out to do a mid-distance run of 10 - 14 miles with 1000 - 1500 m of vert I'll expect to be running for 3-5 hrs.
I carry enough nutrition for the run with an extra emergency ration on top. For water I carry a cup and drink from streams however, I do carry a 500ml soft flask for those stretches inbetween.
I try and get out once a week to do a run like this. The rest of the time will be a run from the house.
Thanks for watching.

Thanks so much for sharing my video, very kind of you 😊 I look forward to watching your channel.
No problem: you make great vids I look forward to the next 👌🏻🙂
Oooooo, bitty 😂😂😂😂
Your fuel sounds good, me thinks we will have to give that a go. That with a bit of pork pie in your pocket..... sorted.
A great one as you do. Will be watching the next one later. Cheers, G
Great video John ,really enjoyed it .Thank you .
great clip nice chatting
I'd recommend Flower scar fell race (medium long) if you want a good February race. Also Pendle Clough 2024 is an English champs so not to be missed. Great race
P.s I'm also getting in on the nut bitty
Atmospheric when the clag is drifting about. Best wishes out there.
"John's Nut Bitty" I will never be able to look you in the eye if I should ever bump into you on the fells. Soz.
😂
You can't beat a bit of bitty 😅 Sterling video John, really enjoyed that. I am king of the champion foot stoofers. Fallen in 4 out of 7 races including 2 hands-free faceplants. That's the price of wearing size 13 clown's shoes! Cracking neck of the woods is that, although I haven't been up Harrop Pike in 40yrs! Due a return visit 😁
Love the long vid John. ❤
Thanks man. Tbh I like the longer format.. I’ll be doing more 👌🏻
Peanut butter bitty 🤣🤣 Another great vid John, well done.
Ha glad you liked it mate 🤘🏻
Fun route and video, John. Thanks for taking us along.
We’ve climbed all 214, but I’m in awe of fell runners, especially on the downhills.
Thanks for that John , top waffling, great video I’ve started following your run on the os map as I watch them defo going to try the peanut butter bitty idea 👍🏃🏻
Nice one mate. Homemade peanut bitty is a lot cheaper and you can make it was you like it. Good luck 🤘🏻
what a great run! :) And yes, that bothy looks decidedly horror movie-esque!! Love the peanut butter/maple syrup combo. Have you tried the Whole Earth squeezy PB? Its a little bit thinner than the normal stuff so might be easier to get into the pouch and gulp on route?
No I haven’t I’ll check it out, sounds perfect! Just made another batch but didn’t get the formula right, turned out 🤮 ooops!
OK "John's Nut Bitty" 🤢 great idea but i think the marketing may need some work 😜
When you taking orders for the NutBitty? 😊
Never mate! The recipe is very hit or miss atm. New batch going on the fells tomorrow 😉
