My word that sea front is just looking so run down & Shabby to say the least, shame been allowed to get into such a condition, certainly put me off visiting, had many a happy holiday on the island.🤓

I stayed in the grand hotel in the early 1960s it was great then it’s a shame to see what it looks like now in 2024 I know it has been demolished and Sandown has certainly changed

Sorry to say - but Sandown is the '*hithole' of the island. I avoid it like the plague. There's nothing there - even the zoo is a waste of time. As for that old hotel (The Grand) - that's another story! OK it's a listed building but the owner should do something about it. The less said about him the better - time will tell. Basically it's an 'eyesore' and it's been like that for years and years.
There's another site just a stone's throw away where an old hotel was demolished; and that has been an 'eyesore' for at least 5 years - maybe more. Sandown is a barrier to tourism - I can't think of a worse place.
'A shadow of it's former self' as they say.
If I stayed in a B&B there I would be wanting them to pay me!!!!😄
