These may be reactions but I think these songs have opened up dialogue with you & your son that wouldn't have happened elsewhere. My father worked a lot, away fom home when I was young. it was harder to communicate back then. I knew my dad by 5 min nextel calls until he got home, for years. I graduated, went over the road with him and we got close but had our differences. I decided to join the Army when I turned 21. Signed papers, & brought a 6 pack home & my pops drank a beer with me. Never seen him drink before. We've been close ever since. It''s an incredible thing growing up, being so much like your dad, and once you get grown you realize how much sence he made, and why he did what he did. It's beatiful. And you guys have that relationship. It's awesome, and so many people envy it.
Thanks for that! And thanks for sharing you and your dad's experiences. Me and my dad, and just me in general had a unique situation where my dad was a senior before I was born... So I didn't get to see my dad as a 20, 30, or 40 yr old man dealing with man things. With no disrespect to him bc he was an amazing man, it really put me behind as a man and handling the man type things. Part of the goal of this channel is to give knowledge through a common interest... And I'm thankful to Sleep Token for offering such great music to do that with.
So much of Sleep Token’s music resonates with me because it reminds me of my first marriage. The pain and toxicity of the relationship he talks about resembles my ex wife. Even this song with the line “why are we so in denial when we know that we’re not happy here”. That was us for years. Dragging out the pain and prolonging the inevitable. Luckily I freed myself and found someone that helped me heal.
Now you see why I relate as well!
Who knew this song was so deep?? Not me🫣 not gonna lie, missed opportunity on the shake it like a Polaroid picture lol he could have done magic with that 😂 but seriously, the chorus and "nothing is forever" absolutely beautiful. Dude knows how to harmonize.

It still amazes me how Vessel's vocals are perfect for vocalizing the pain and angst this song obviously sings about. Andre 3000 is brilliant, but I swear it's almost as if Vessel wrote this song himself. He's able to connect to the lyrics and actually put emotion, tragic pain into the lyrics which pull you in, more so than the original in my opinion. I love OutKast, they're up there with some of my favorite hip hop. But the lyrics to what was such a "pop" feeling song, man, when Vessel sings them, they damn near pull you to your knees. This man is a gift, he's been through Hell, and has a way of processing his emotions into beautiful, tragic music that so many of us can relate to. He did the same thing with Whitney Houston's Wanna Dance with Somebody. I never knew that song was actually kinda sad. But Vessel's interpretation of it when he sings it is beautiful. I'm on my third marriage and for me this is it. I finally found my person. But it was a rough road for a while. And I can relate to so much that he sings and makes you feel. Most of us have something that's relatable to Vessel and the struggle of painful relationships. I enjoyed your reactions to this cover. His voice is so good it's criminal. It's amazing 🤩.....gah, I can't wait to see them next month. Only 33 more days 😋😁😭😂
My husband isn't really into them, but he's escorting me and our daughter and my nephew to the show. I'm driving 6 hrs to Tampa but we're making a road trip out of this and are going to enjoy it. But I'm hoping after seeing them live he'll like them more.

That actually was the first thing I listened to of sleep token. Probably back in 2019. Clicked on it out of curiosity after it came up in the UA-cam algorithm. Immediately clicked on Bloodsport (from the room below), then The Offering and that was it. Hooked. Haven't really stopped listening to them since. Seeing them live for the second time in November and I cannot fricking wait.

You've now heard Hey Ya, but they have also done covers of Billie Eilish When The Party's Over, Whitney Houston I Wanna Dance With Somebody and a live performance of Leonard Cohen Hallelujah.
