Hi, I'm a DES fan from Australia. I discovered her in our library but didn't get much chance to buy old copies as they were retired 😐 Miss Buncles Book is very funny, especially read out loud. My favourite is The Tall Stranger. I love the characters and the settings and the plot twists. I also appreciate the way the characters just keep going in spite of tragedy and misunderstanding. Very inspiring as you say
Hi Katie! So thrilling to meet another D.E. Stevenson enthusiast! She is one of my favorite authors. I found a used copy of Shoulder the Sky at my local independent bookstore about 10 years ago and loved it so much. It was one of the earliest DES's I read and it may still be my favorite, though I also love The Four Graces and Five Windows.
I love D.E.Stevenson! And, I LOVE your old hardback editions. I never see any "out in the wild," so I am so thankful they're now available on Kindle for such great (inexpensive) prices. I've read all four in the Miss Buncle series, and am actually currently reading Vittoria Cottage now on my Kindle.
A few years ago, I bought a copy of Miss Buncle’s Book at Barnes and Noble. That’s the only one I’ve ever seen “in the wild.” I also love my hardback editions, especially because they remind me of my Granny! Thanks for watching and commenting!
What a great collection! I would like to read more by D.E. Stevenson. I have read Miss Buncle’s Book, Celia’s House, and The Musgraves. The last was ok and I enjoyed the first two.
The Musgraves is not one of my favorites either. You should read Listening Valley. Celia is not a main character, but she makes some cameo appearances.
Hi, I love DE Stevenson so much. She is my all time favorite author. The reason some of the books have different titles are because they were published first in England, and then when published in America the publisher sometimes chose a different title. So some are the English title and some the American title. I loved the Sarah Morris duology, the second one being Sarah’s Cottage. I hope you have that one too.Thank you.😊😊😊❤❤❤

Thank you for watching! Have you read The House on the Cliff? That’s another of my favorites!
@@WhileIReadwithKatieDodrill You're welcome! I haven't read The House on the Cliff but I own a vintage copy. I'll have to get to that asap!
@@elizabethbrink3761 It’s about a woman who inherits her grandparent’s home. Beautiful descriptions, great characters, and so cozy!
@@WhileIReadwithKatieDodrill Sounds lovely!

Thank you for explaining about the titles. I remember learning that before, but I’d forgotten. I do have Sarah’s Cottage. Both are so good!
