I have the KOF 95 soundtrack on CD and it has all the things the characters say on the last tracks, I played 'Moetaro' for my Japanese boss when I was working in a sushi restaurant and he said it meant 'Barbecue'
Hello Rene, what a work (recording gameplay on all games, understanding, typing, translating, scripting, recording on camera, post-production), bravo! I had all those lines in my head for the last 20 years, Kyo is super badass (and has kinda an obsession for his opponent's bodies apparently ! XD) I wasn't sure about "歴史が違うんだよ", because in my opinion "rekishi" was more "History" with a capital H, and "chigau" is more like "incorrect / erroneous". He's telling is opponent, that the History of the Kusanagi clan is false from what everybody thinks (the initial feud between Kusanagi clan & Yagami clan), something like "Don't believe history books about the Kusanagi clan". Or even that he doesn't even care about the Kusanagi clan History : "Kyo takes his clan's responsibilities on a more personal level, disregarding ancient legends and predestined events as any reason for his actions" (SNK wikia) But since he's saying that to each and every one of his opponent, I think you're right, it's more likely that he is saying "Take my Kusanagi blow! My (clan) history/background is different from yours", Looking forward for your other videos!
Kyo said a lot of these lines in KOF 2006, and the English dub for that game had everything translated pretty much almost exactly as you said. His 2001 taunt was used and dubbed as "Hey, quit goofing off!" for example.
Something that I want to add thanks to another youtuber that did this kind of videos but in Spanish. When *Kyo* says "body" he doesn't mean as his opponent's body but his opponent's body combat, which is a kind of training that mixes cardio, martial arts and boxing; *Kyo* fights in kenpō (Chinese boxing) style beside his clan's martial arts and clearly he's mocking on the opponent's quality or his kata (型, "form").
Kenpo is not Chinese boxing. Chinese martial arts are called kung fu, which is the same term used in China. In Virtua Fighter, Akira uses Bajiquan (八極拳) because the developer was a fan of the manga Kenji. Kenji is a story about a Japanese boy learning Bajiquan. Kyo is simply the successor of a traditional (fictional) Japanese martial art(古武道).
I really love this content. After a looooong time like decades literraly, finally I know what they said. I think the short conversation between characters who know each other will be interested to translate. Like Yahshiro and Chris, or Ralf and Clark, or Choi and Chang. Would looking forward to see what they say
I read that "ken" can also mean sword in Japanese. Since the Kusanagi Sword was a famous mythical sword in Japan used to kill Orochi, Kyo was saying that his "kusanagi ken" was different from the kusanagi sword in history.
Can you do one for Robert and Kensou? Apparently they speak with a dialect from Osaka so it would be really cool to know how that dialect differs from Tokyo or maybe other small prefectures. Love the videos, I think you have something really cool here.
I loved playing as Kyo when I was a kid (in fact, still do!) And not gonna lie, I did learn a bit of Japanese from him in my teens (before realizing most of what he says wouldn't fare well in normal situations 😂)
It's strange how many word your said different but in the 3d kof maximum impact there is actually possible to listen voices in english and I remember many of thing you said are different then how the game voices are, specially the you said "I won", but in that game Koy says "I am the champion" which is pretty badass 😂
@@ReneSpeak I love your videos bro I grew up playing these games and after all these years I can understand what my favorite characters were saying good job man keep it up please❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I preferred his 97 'Kore ga Kuasanagi no ken da!' shout for his Mu Shiki over the 98 version. It had more impact and being shorter, makes more sense to say in a battle. I don't hate the 98 version, but we never got the 97 version again until in KOF All Stars, which fittingly was also used for the MAX Mu Shiki. Too bad All Stars was such a rubbish game apart from the great production values.
17:55 Comparison not fair. In KOF 95 Iori's supermove also had his opponent burning in purple flames while during the move. However, since KOF 96 the opponent wouldn't burn anymore, I guess because it was cheaper since they wouldn't have to draw all the sprites. I like more 95's Iori's supermove, but Kyo's latest is also damm good
Which The King of Fighters character should be the next? 🤔

Iori Yagami please...😊
I never realize Kyo is such a chatter when fighting. Nice video! I love it!
His "genius" made him arrogant, yet he IS really a genius
Thanks for spreading some love for Kyo.
The little hop that Kyo does in 99 is learned directly from his father, Saisyu who also does this move in the game prior
21 min long banger vid of my favorite fighting character. Count me in
Great video BTW
Rene please make more of this video I beg you much love from South Africa
I have the KOF 95 soundtrack on CD and it has all the things the characters say on the last tracks, I played 'Moetaro' for my Japanese boss when I was working in a sushi restaurant and he said it meant 'Barbecue'
You need more views! Ive always wanted this kind of video of characters speech in kof games.
Thank you 🙏🏼😁
Happy to hear even sound of him.i love kyo
The double punch half circle back in ‘99 was dope 💯

Kyo says “Asobi wa owari da” in order to make fun of iori or make refer to him 😂

@@meswil You might know it better as Maximum Impact 2. They called it 2006 in the US for some reason.
Something that I want to add thanks to another youtuber that did this kind of videos but in Spanish.

Hmm..but Kyo is from Japan right, why Chinese kenpo then???
Agree
His point is "your body is wide open!"
Kenpo is not Chinese boxing.

Love the jumping hook.
Took it after his dad, after all
This is great, always wondered what he said after the body ga's. Hope you do more and 17:55 Kyo's is cooler :^)
I read that "ken" can also mean sword in Japanese. Since the Kusanagi Sword was a famous mythical sword in Japan used to kill Orochi, Kyo was saying that his "kusanagi ken" was different from the kusanagi sword in history.
Well, the diference is the kanji
拳 = fist
剣 = sword
And Kyo's line uses 拳 (fist)
Maybe it was an intended pun? 🤔
my best character of all the times
I think saseru ka! Mostly means “I won’t allow” or “Will/would I allow (you)”. This move is being used for counterattack.
Yes
"I won't let you (do it)!"
I'm a simple man, I see Rene I sub!
Never knew about that pressing c repeteadly after the "kusanagi no ken da" until now😱
Cool content my friend, I was wondering do you mind doing one for KUSANAGI?
This is really interesting there are a lot of characters in games that I dont understand the meaning of the japanese words or i misheard them.
Awesome pls do Yashiro and Shermie team

Hello, can you do Ralph next from King of fighters. What he says when he does thst super punch of his "Wongtinkibonkel"
Great explanation Renee 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Kyo is one arrogant character lol
He sure is 😅
Also kinda lazy. Which is partially why his training with Saisyu was harsh
Always was.
Thats why he hated his dad.
He was a drop out as well.
@@Metal_Mayhem2024Also why he was so hurt when Goenitz beat him. Both literally and emotionally. He got a reality check.
